  1. Nice! Thanks, very much appreciated. I gotta try and get my hands on a Macross artbook one of these days.
  2. Would you mind taking a pic or three? Seeing all the pre-production design sketches is half the fun of mecha shows for me.
  3. I found that they continually improved the CG throughout the OVA. The first episode of Zero had some really stiff movement and camera work with the Tomcats and Fulcrums, and the missile trails/flares/explosions were decidedly PS2-eqsue, but by the last ep. it was really well done.
  4. Yep, adding the capability to carry 6 of them internally.
  5. I think its awful. There are a couple sequences in the first episode where I had to do a double take, they looked like amateur SFM animations (that scene where the Major and Batou shoot at Huges' feet while he breakdances is just mindboggling in a not very good way).
  6. http://www.airrecognition.com/index.php/news/defense-aviation-news/2020/april/6167-germany-plans-to-buy-93-eurofighters-and-45-f-18s.html Germany is buying up 45 Super Hornets to maintain its nuclear strike responsibility
  7. Watching Houkago Teibou Nisshi. Comfy show about fishing, same vibe as Yuru Camp and Yama no Susume. Makes me want to pick it up again, last time I went was almost a decade ago. Unfortunate that they could only get 3 episodes done before COVID shut it down.
  8. There was also an experimental French fighter from the 50's called the SNCASE SE-212 Durandal. Probably just a coincidence though, it is fairly obscure.
  9. Now all they need to do is get a contract to provide CAP for music concerts.
  10. Interesting victory for Activision, and by "interesting" I mean really cool. Far too many game devs go with slightly modifying real designs to skirt fears around lawsuits, but with this there's now precedent for using real vehicles, weapons, etc without licensing. Obviously doesn't apply to actual branding (logos, copyrighted names, etc), but as long as the models themselves are accurate, I could care less what they're called. https://www.gtplanet.net/call-of-duty-legal-victory-20200403/
  11. The Stratolaunch lives! https://www.stratolaunch.com/vehicles Talon A "Talon-A is a fully reusable, autonomous, liquid rocket-powered Mach 6-class hypersonic vehicle with a length of 28 feet (8.5 m), wingspan of 11.3 feet (3.4 m), and a launch weight of approximately 6,000 pounds (2,722 Kg). The Talon-A will conduct over 1-minute of hypersonic flight testing, and glide back for an autonomous, horizontal landing on a conventional runway. The vehicle will also be capable of autonomous take-off, under its own power, via a conventional runway." Black Ice "Black Ice is a fully reusable space plane that enables advanced on-orbit capabilities and cargo return. Initial designs optimized for cargo launch, with a follow-on variant capable of transporting crew."
  12. The FAA released its ruling on the Collings Foundation B-17 crash a while back, and it doesn't paint a pretty picture. https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=FAA-2001-11089-1673
  13. Yes, but a QF-16 won't be able to simulate a stealth threat from a peer state.
  14. A trailer for the 25th anniversary of the franchise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9MeI1n_PfQ&feature=emb_title
  15. Sierra Technical is working on a target drone called the 5GAT, intended to simulate 5th gen fighters. https://www.flightglobal.com/fixed-wing/sierra-technical-unveils-faster-and-more-manoeuvrable-stealth-uav/136192.article
  16. Anyone else looking forward to Brave New Animal? I'm liking the art direction, there's some fantastic background artwork going on in the show.
  17. Sikorsky-Boeing SB-1 Defiant and Bell Valor V280 chosen to move forward in the FLRAA competition (choosing the successor for the UH-60). https://defbrief.com/2020/03/17/bell-sikorsky-boeing-advance-to-next-stage-of-us-armys-flraa-competition/
  18. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Aerospace-Defense/Japan-s-next-gen-fighter-to-be-built-with-US-not-UK More news on the F-3.
  19. Its great to see a large company like MS put so much money, time and ambition into a genre that is usually very niche.
  20. The plane with the floats is a Macchi M.C.72. Its already winning points over Kotobuki for not limiting itself to Japanese planes only.
  21. File compression is a lost art form for mainstream devs these days. Modern Warfare 2019 is well over 100gb for a Call of Duty with one of the shortest campaigns in the history of the franchise.
