What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
AN/ALQ128 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Watching the new Kino no Tabi and Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou this season. Also greatly enjoying Mahoujin Guruguru 2017 at the moment, a delightfully charming and cute series. -

A little more footage on the fancy airshow moves from a Famitsu stream. Looks like the ability to pull it off will depend on what speed you're going at, and most likely the conditions you'll be flying in.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
AN/ALQ128 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I just finished watching In This Corner Of The World by Sunao Katabuchi, and by god it was excellent. I can see why it was receiving so much praise. There's just such a fine eye for detail in that movie, and the melancholic soundtrack really gives it a nostalgic feeling (also helped by the gorgeous art style). Outside of Taisho Yakyuu Musume, there aren't a whole lot of anime that give such an excellent portrayal of pre-war Japan, so I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who's interested in that era. That said, it did drag a little bit in the middle. -

I heard about that, very sad. -
If it isn't in the base game, it'll definitely show up as DLC.

https://www.dualshockers.com/ace-combat-7-trailer-screenshots-gameplay/ I was expecting it to be in the game, but lo and behold, Kono didn't let me down. The Mitsubishi F-2A in all its blue glory.

Its been a while since I watched M7 in its entirety, but I can't really remember much instances of Basara's defiance of authority costing lives. In fact, it seemed to me that the UN Spacy officers were far more arrogant and made things much worse by hamstringing Basara at every turn in order to push their own off-brand idols, who weren't even half as effective as Fire Bomber. At his worst, he just annoys the military types.

Can't say I'm shocked, it seems a lot of brick and mortar chains are facing tough times as everyone gets used to online shopping. I myself like the convenience of online shopping, but there's something to be said for being able to have a hands on look with whatever you're buying.

Aircraft Super Thread Mk.VII
AN/ALQ128 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The per-unit cost is roughly equivalent to 4.5th gen contemporaries of the F-35, such as the Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale. Something like $95mil, if I recall. For that, you get an extremely stealthy, datalinked super computer with wings, with a superior flight radius compared to the Super Hornet (if we're taking internal fuel tanks only). Plus, there's all the sales to foreign allies to take into consideration, such as the UK, Japan, Australia, and (maybe) Canada, which will also help in driving costs down. From all I've read and heard, pilots who've flown the F-35 seem to love the plane. Its apparently far easier to fly than the Harrier as well, another airframe that the F-35 is replacing. -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq5eRBCeqXM BAE showing off their fancy Striker II helmet. I found the comment on how the future cockpit designs might do away with physical displays all together, and just project everything into your HMD particularly interesting. -
How did Sharon project her hologram inside the YF-19's cockpit? From all that I can gather from the internet and watching M+ (both the movie and the OVA), the YF-19 doesn't seem to have holographic projectors.

I'm not so sure a twin engine F-35 would provide much benefit for the Navy. The benefits of a smaller footprint on a space prohibitive environment like a carrier would probably outweigh any redundancy/reliability concerns surrounding single engined aircraft. -

Mmmmmm, delicious landing gear mechanisms. Gotta say, the F-35 has been growing on me. It won't match the beauty of an Eagle or Raptor, but its got a certain charm to it. -
The movie just made me want to buy a .45-70 lever action. That Marlin was beautiful.

I just wish Mylene's VF-11MAXL didn't have those silly breastplates exposed while in fighter mode.

I've also noticed they've kept with the standard IRST bulb pimple, and haven't dogtoothed the thrust nozzles. No S-ducts either, so I'm quite skeptical that the Su-57 will be able to match the stealthiness of the F-22, or even the F-35. -
What is this, the fourth director Disney has fired in the past year or so over Star Wars and "creative differences"?

You can bash the prequels for its extremely poor writing all you want and I'd agree, but the prequels had some great mecha design. The Naboo starfighter and space yacht remain some of my favorite space ship designs ever.
