  1. Gorgeous aircraft.
  2. Only the F-20, I believe.
  3. Perhaps that'll also be part of the DLC. Infinity introduced the F-5 and F-20 in the same update as the Area 88 event, iirc.
  4. I'm hoping they'll do another Area 88 collab.
  5. Korean interview with Kono. According to reddit translations, there are no microtransactions, as all MRP are earned through the campaign and multiplayer and is not accessible through real currency. The fuel system from Infinity is not present in the MP mode. There are 150 total possible combinations of aircraft, parts, and SP weapons. There are 180 emblems, all of which can be unlocked ingame. No chance of crossplay between platforms. Mods are a mixed bag. It sounds like Project Aces are okay with mods as long as they don't affect the multiplayer experience, or violate any contracts with their licenses from aircraft manufacturers. Anticheat measures will be implemented in multiplayer. VR DLC may be possible sometime in the future. Flightsticks can be used in VR. Collaborations with other franchises (aka Idolm@ster skins) are being considered. http://m.ruliweb.com/news/read/115012
  6. https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=ba100893931fb47264d09521173f7435&tab=core&_cview=0 DARPA has issued an RFP for a countermeasure to hypersonic vehicles.
  7. As a Canadian, I would much rather the RCAF get brand new F-35's over clapped out 2nd hand Hornets and Super Hornets nearing the end of their airframe lives. Trudeau buying those Hornets wasn't due to any kind of tactical consideration, but simply a stop-gap measure because our CF-18's are quite literally falling out of the skies and it wouldn't look very good for the Liberal party to have a pilot die due to long time governmental negligence. Once Lockheed gets economy of scale going, the F-35's will be quite affordable to buy, and will provide a longer service life than simply buying more Hornets from allies that no longer want theirs. It would also be a boon for our aerospace industry, considering we are still part of the JSF program, and there are multiple Canadian companies supplying the program. I don't think it matters much considering Alaska has F-16's (and soon, F-35's) stationed and there's never been much of an issue there in regards to reliability. Or at least, none that I've heard of.
  8. https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/french-firm-dassault-pulls-out-of-fighter-jet-competition-sources Canada requires any replacement fighter jet to be Five Eyes certified, which means the Rafale is now off the table. That leaves the F-35, Super Hornet, and Typhoon as potential replacement aircraft. What a complete mess of a procurement process, sadly not something new to Canada.
  9. Speaking of which, just how common are non variable aircraft in the Macross universe? It seems like the only aircraft that don't transform are the drones, and a few civilian vehicles.
  10. https://mobile.twitter.com/BandaiNamcoUS/status/1060547496882200576 Looks like us North Americans aren't getting a Strangereal edition after all, but a pack called the Aces at War edition. Comes with the steelbook, and the artbook.
  11. I doubt the Taiwanese will ever get the F-35 in any near future time frame.
  12. Effective in the fact that they can lift a plane into the air? Sure. But unless you have no choice, there are better options around.
  13. Now that's a nice looking suit. Very race car driver-ish.
  14. 3DTVC equipped J-10 shown off at this years Zuhai airshow.
  15. Its not that simple. Even if they got all the plans for an EMALS catapult design, they would still encounter a ton of difficulties actually making the damn thing work. This is the same country that had major issues making knockoffs of Russian engines despite having first hand access to them for years.
  16. Heard about it, but I have no real wish to see it. Seems pointless.
  17. https://www.janes.com/article/84079/boeing-testing-high-speed-apache-concept A return to the AH-56 Cheyenne concept?
  18. I personally love both the designs and the music aspect of Macross, so M7 is one of my favorites.
  19. While we're on the subject, Belgium just chose the F-35 over the Eurofighter Typhoon. https://sg.news.yahoo.com/belgium-confirms-choice-lockheeds-f-35-over-eurofighter-120229791--finance.html
  20. That box art is really attractive.
  21. That's why the USN is keeping a bunch of Super Hornets around, and upgrading them to Block 3 standard (prologing service life by a couple decades). The F-35 has the software capability to send sensor data to other USN aircraft, which means theoretically the Lightning might never need to fire its own weapons in anger. It can act as a stealthy forward observer, sending target info to Super Hornets following just outside the range of any SAM networks, and thus allowing the Super Hornets to fire without risking being shot down. Hell, with the MADL, the F-35 can send target data to USN surface vessels equipped with baseline 9 Aegis Combat System, again vastly increasing the range at which the F-35 can deal with threats. The beast mode is just a concept that illustrates the fact that, if there is no tactical need for stealth, the F-35 can carry a ton of ordinance. And yeah, the Marines are buying B variants to replace the Harriers.
  22. Seems like Kono is trying to get some momentum going for a North American release of the Strangereal edition. Personally, I find it pretty mindboggling that Bandai are willing to completely ignore such a large market like it didn't even exist, but it seems like that's how it is.
  23. The US alone is ordering 1763 of the A variant. Barring any sudden order cancellations by customers, it'll probably be the most numerous 5th gen aircraft for decades.
  24. Previous games had tech trees and currency in order to unlock things, and not even Infinity was that stingy about mission payouts. I don't feel like its anything to worry about.
