  1. More gore is definitely good.
  2. I went to SP3 on my VAIO and wife's computer without issue. I spend most of my days on my MBP these days. Even when I'm at home, I'm just hooked into my firewire drives and 24" Dell. The sad part is that I built a new gaming rig awhile back that never really got going. E6850, 8800GTS, etc. Now I'm thinking of putting that into my wife's case maybe with a year of Windows 7 RC while I build myself a Core i7 and a true monster of a GPU like 4GB monstrosity that was just announced
  3. Unfortunately, it's nothing new. I would still like for them to just use their fancy CGI and what not and simply make a live version of the animated 1980s movie. "You got the touch!"
  4. The reboot just wasn't needed here. Most of the plot can be done just by ignoring previous events, of course, especially if they don't have relevence. Kirk's parentage, etc don't need to enter the picture if the main character isn't Kirk. Can't there be another young brash guy? If it must be Kirk and Spock (which I like the idea of and Quinto certainly looks the part), why does the entire supporting cast of the original series also need to be represented? I could have bought it if it was just the "big three" (Kirk, Spock, McCoy)... maybe Scotty, but all the others either had to be much younger or a retcon is now needed for them to be a bunch of mediocre delinquents in the original series timeframe. There isn't another Asian who knows martial arts in Starfleet in the same timeframe as Kirk? There isn't another black communications chick? Another Russian who doesn't have to be retconned as a freak prodigy instead of just being a wet behind the ears young guy with a Monkeys/Beatles haircut? Why not just give them all different names so suspension of disbelief can be confined to the science instead of the fiction? Make it a Vulcan colony world instead of Vulcan itself and there's nothing to say the story couldn't have happened in the original series timeframe with some creative writing. But it's easier to fall back into a favorite of star trek drek and go with time travel. Again.
  5. There are a whole load of zones. At least 7 or 8 IIRC but I want to say 9 or 10. Xi lets you do all sorts of riddles and mini-games if you're into that. You can do Texas Hold'em in the EA Sports area, as well as race and what not to get free shirts, etc. THe social aspect doesn't look to be materializing as much as they probably wanted (for whatever reason) but there is much much more to do in Home than there was at launch. It's still in Beta, though, mostly because it's a completely new way to look at it. They're continually opening new spaces IIRC, it's supposed to be at least one per month for the rest of the year.
  6. No worries. FWIW, I have over 8000 hours on my SXRD's original lamp. Need to get around to ordering another and keep the used as a temp spare. Doubt I'll ever go through more than 2 before I replace the set anyways, but theoretically I could buy a few and keep them going indefinitely, even though m inor ancillary parts (mostly the 120mm fans) appear to fail in some instances. I was never a fan of DLP but it's the only game in town nowadays if you don't want a flat panel. Most LCD's are a big step back in performance and plasmas price/size-performance ratio always pretty bad. Kuro came a ways to levelling but still far more expensive than the equivalent rear projection.
  7. There's plenty of skins, mostly in the laminate/sticker approach for changing colors. Should be able to go all matte pretty easy.
  8. And if you don't want money or anything, let ME know.
  9. I essentially said the same thing as you (that it's more trouble than it's worth) especially considering that a newer, bigger, better TV can be had for $1k, but with a bit more detail
  10. Guns? CRT? I'd probably pass... 50" isn't THAT big and you can easily get a 60-73" Mitsu DLP RPTV. It's no SXRD and is wobulated but certainly cheap enough to fill out a rather large size.
  11. My next phone, hopefully in 8 days: http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-N97-Unlocked-S...7292&sr=8-4 And a review/preview:
  12. Good point, though possibly not enough to offset some bad writing. Great scenes from the deleted/ultimate/extreme cut on T2. Still haven't seen it and hoping to this weekend. Otherwise will be waiting for the Blu-ray. Definitely doesn't sound like Cameron level detail and subplot went into it... Remember, Reese in T1 said that Skynet was defeated and the Terminators were the last resort. In T2, the Governator said that Skynet initated Judgement Day to start the Nuclear War when they tried to pull the plug (which was shown in T3), though apparently altered by the "change in plan" wrt T2 theatrical ending. Does Salvation still fit into those 3 bullets or is there a retcon involved?
  13. This one, too.
  14. That board game looks pretty good. Any way to order just the miniatures without the game? lol
  15. lol doors wouldn't help you anyway.
  16. I almost paid money for that game a couple weeks ago. Been having a bunch of buddies over and we've been doing drunken Mortal Kombat versus DC (basically you have to take a swig of your beer whenever you're the victim of an uppercut) and thought RagDoll Kung-Fu would be a funny supplement. Good thing we've all been kinda busy recently and I didn't cause I just got this free download. Game is pretty entertaining. Hilarious near parody of the 70s Kung-Fu/Martial Arts genre. Had to make my bare-chested Afro-wearing black guy. I'm wicket with the num chucks, too. I thought there would be online multiplayer but just online at hte same console it appears (which is perfect for it's intended purpose, especially free). Get it while you can! Already have a couple trophies from it, which is bonus.
  17. lol hardly stalking since the forum software quite easily enables one to just glance at "Find posts by this user" in a quite convenient format to see if you did any debate over trivial minutae that is common in this section of MW. And you didn't disapoint. We're most all geeks to some degree here, but not a whole lot of dedicated Trekkies IIRC. Maybe at memoryalpha or the official site, I imagine.
  18. It could only take 40W to produce a Brazillion MegaJoules or gigajoules of energy to the target, maybe. Without knowing the conversion, it wouldn't really matter without knowing the in-context in-universe explanation. How much do you buy the Star Wars theories on Han's parsec claim?
  19. Thought I saw Unicron. Nevermind. Could never get that much into Gundam. How does the original hold up in comparison to Macross SDF?
  20. So is it only good if you're talking about what Skynet knows about John Connor (or vice versa), which Transformer makes up which Constructicon, or the ultimate fate of Shaak-Ti?
  21. lol with a mustache.
  22. I love that ship and would get it. Not so much interested in the DVD power armor, though.
  23. Not alot of merchandising for the new one. Even B5 saw more stuff....
