It's a personal seller, and it's all through bidding. FJ doesn't have any info about contacting sellers except for what you posted above - they'll contact the seller if multiple auctions have been won and ask to consolidate it. No forms, no methods, to pass questions from a third party (me) through them to sellers. On the one hand, it's a bit of a bummer. But on the other, I wouldn't implement such a system if I were them, either. Oh well. Thanks for helping work through this.

The pilot uniform? If so, one is the "Figuarts Zero Mirage Farina Jenius," and the other is the "Banpresto SQ Figure Mirage Farina Jenius." --- Figuarts Zero Mirage: pros + generally better workmanship + better sculpt + clear helmet visor + comes with additional face (blushing) cons - smaller than Banpresto figure - more expensive (retailed for ~5000 yen, managed to snag mine for ~2500) - sculpt is arguably not significantly better --- Banpresto SQ Mirage: pros + slightly larger than Figuarts + cheaper (got mine for ~$15) + "fuller" sculpt cons - "stylized" sculpt (not necessarily a con, but worth noting) - skin tone is pale, doesn't feature paint (according to Saburo, anyway; my limited knowledge/collection of figures means I can't easily tell) - opaque helmet visor - not as expressive (IMO) --- I'm sure there's more that can be said comparing both, but I don't have the Banpresto figure in front of me to do so. Saburo might have more insight for you; he's had more time with the figures.

Thanks, Noel, but I'd like to know BEFORE putting down four, five bids and having to risk paying the same fees four, five times. The last time I ordered multiple items from the same person/store, I didn't realize it was the same person and it was only through luck that I saved ~3,000 yen in fees and domestic shipping. (Usually the auction page will let you know if the seller does combined shipping, but in this past case and this current one, there's no such statement stating either way.)

Anyone know how to contact a seller on YJA? I'm looking at some auctions from the same seller through From Japan and I don't know if they'll combine won auctions for shipping. The auction pages don't say, though the fixed-price (500 yen) shipping method (non-standard mail) suggests not. Thankfully the auction's not over for a while yet, so I sent From Japan an email asking if they could inquire, but if that should fail, anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

Macross Δ (Delta) Movie Gekijō no Walkūre (Passionate Walkure)
kajnrig replied to no3Ljm's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'd be down for this. The kind of fiery, emotional romance that you need from a love triangle never fit Mirage, anyway. Alternatively, turn the typical tropes of the triangle on their heads entirely and have Freyja find sport in cajoling Mirage out of her shell. As likable as Hayate and Freyja are together, I think there's more to work with between Mirage and Freyja.- 810 replies

Did people (here or in general) really skew that much towards disliking the movies? I'm surprised. I liked seeing what parts they were willing to radically change and what parts they weren't.- 810 replies

What's the ratio of old to new here? is what I'm wondering. Because you can tell a VERY different story using the same scenes if you work hard enough. The fact that they're telling a different story says that they're aware of how poor a job they did with the series.- 810 replies

Yep, you're right, I was wrong. I looked at the model kit runners on Dalong and they do indeed have different molds for each VF-31 variant for the areas directly fore and aft of the heads. So putting a VF-31A head on a -31J would be potentially more problematic than I thought.

I would think they're all interchangeable. The heads are fairly similarly shaped, and the toys share the same molds for the chest/back blocks that encase the head in fighter mode. The models don't remold these areas, either. ...then again, maybe the DXes have fixed/unremovable heads? Maybe they're screwed into place or something...

What should be different include: - FSW wing tips --> delta wing tips - J/C/etc.-type head --> A-type head - clear single-piece fold quartz on chest --> opaque two-piece fold carbon on chest - drone launcher --> micromissile launcher - forward canards --> larger forward canards - nosecone sensors --> different arrangement of nosecone sensors* *The nosecone sensors change has not been made. Still gullwing.

Tried it just now, didn't work. Seems they must have finagled it somewhat. EDIT: Couldn't get it to work with several items, even those being promoted at NYCC. So... I dunno.- 6025 replies

That's a pretty good summary, now I think about it. Well, to be fair, the contexts of the two movies are very different. The first takes place after a long, long war, with the Jaeger program being decommissioned and literally the last scraps of it being hodgepodged together for a final mission. The facilities and equipment had seen over a decade of use by then. The second, on the other hand, comes on the heels of those same decommissioned Jaeger programs saving the world; it stands to reason that funding for them would skyrocket and they would update their facilities. ...that said, I agree that it's way more Apple and not enough... Cowboy Bebop? That "lived-in" sci-fi. The in-universe reasoning seems spotty at best. I saw the regenerating kaiju at the end and wondered if it was maaaaybe a large Category 3 like the one that took out Gipsy in the beginning of the first movie. Maybe they've downsized because the kaiju sizes seem to be much more varied this time around as well. There seem to be human-sized kaiju (the mass of wormy ones, thus "necessitating" regular infantry) this time around in addition to the New Jaeger-sized ones and the Old Jaeger-sized one at the end of the trailer. Ah, the wordsmith himself.

For clarification: The preorder window on this 31A, being a web exclusive, will be open for a relatively long time? Since the toy's releasing in March, will preorders close around February? January? Thanks.

Not to be dismissive, but... What is this!?!? This looks like a half-finished concept sketch! They actually bothered coloring this and publishing it? Didn't even clean it up or give it a quick second pass to refine the design?

Eh... I think you guys are letting your Robotech hate get the best of you. They look decent. Proportions could be better (though I have a feeling that in person they would look better), everything is bit too busy like JetJockey hit on the head, the detailing is too stark (and the choice of details makes them give off a decidedly more Robotech feel than Macross), and a Super Gerwalk wouldn't be skating along the water's surface like that. And call it a personal nitpick, but the exhaust should be blue-white, not orange. I feel like they could have stuck to some more iconic poses, or at least chosen a scene that more closely sticks to the source material. The bases they've gone with are just generic sci-fi backgrounds, and while the water brings to mind DYRL's sea battle against Milia et al, the configuration of the Valk (Fast packs attached) is wrong for the situation. Remove the Super parts, splay the legs out for a more aggressive A stance, and maybe tilt the "thighs" back so that they're bending back more instead of hanging almost vertical, and I think the Gerwalk statue is successful. The Battroid... Make the head either look up at where it's going or down at what it's trying not to crash into instead of vaguely to its left, and the problems with the proportions and such can largely be ignored.
