agreed, feel free to slam this shut if it even starts to look dangerous. good job macrossworld, so rarely do we get PRAISE from the mods as for the topic. yeah i'm not paticularly thrilled about the origins of the caucasian term. I tend to just call myself American. it might not describe my appearance that well but it says alot more about me than calling myself "white" i thought i should tell you guys about my friend, hes a 'white' guy from africa. born, raised till about 15 in South Africa. when he came to america and he started filling out forms naturally, as an american citizen with african origins, he would mark the "african-american" slots. when he got introuble for being a smart alec in school he was really sad, because hes from africa and american, but he has to label himself "white" he's like, just because i don't have black skin, i'm not considered african. thought that was intresting. personally, i like the idea the anthropologists have, clasifying people by what languages they speak makes so much more sence. i have german and other european backround in my blood, but i only speak american english. i consider myself to simply be amercian with no real ties to my ancestrial past.

sorry for the spelling errors, to my defence, i misspell most of what i type. i'm glad to see some people have a sence of humor about this type of thing. its so confusing that if you really try to think about it its just really kind of funny. in my opinion, i'll never be offended by any term made to describe my race, i'm just that proud of who i am. so call me what you want. i just try not to step on peoples toes.

The thread this discussion started in went off topic, but i've got a few questions about the terminology of what is Asian/Oriental. Because of the high amount of Japanise, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamise, and Phillipino members here i want to be sure i'm using the correct terminology to refer to groups. the thing i find confusing is that Asian.. generaly refers now-a-days to the area many would consider "the orient" IE: japan china and korea area. basicly the east coast of asia. this is confusing because there are alot of other countrys that people don't consider "asian" IN asia. as a ethnic backround it seems odd to call a japanise person asian while a person from inda is just as "asian" in that his entire country is located IN asia. while most people would simply say "just call people from Idia, indian" it still dosen't quite make sence as that implys nationaliy and not "general area of decent" it seems unfair to call just the eastern nationalitys of asia "asian" considering all of india, kazakhstan, nepal and others are just as "asian" but their people arn't usually consider "asian" also, MOST of russia is in Asia yet they are considered a European country since the most active part of the country is in europe. it SEEMS to me, that calling the "asian" countrys like Japan, China, Korea and the like "oriental" is not any more derogitory than calling Asian countrys like Afghanisstan and Pakistan "middle eastern." the "middle east" isn't a continent, just a region, much like i though the "orient" was just a region. thus it seems natural to call people from that reigion "oriental" just as we'd call Iraqis and Kuwaitis "Middle Eastern" since i believe those countrys are also Asian it also has to do with "pacific islander" wich are still technically part of asia. again its a region not a continent yet as far as i know, being called a pacific islander isn't derogitory. maybe its because "oriental" is a term and not a description that people are turned off by it. maybe "east asian" would be more suitable? i dont know. does that make sence? i imagine i'm not right, but this is just my train of though. please correct me as needed. :-) i'm sure i sound pretty ignorant, wich i am on this subject and the only way to learn is to ask, so please don't be offended.

That picture is from our National Guard here in Texas, I would even hazzard a guess that it's from one of the Squadrons at Fort Worth JRB (Used to be Carswell AFB) What made you think it was an Army bird? i didn't actually think it was army, i figured it wasn't but wasn't sure. i'm really much more into navy and marine machinery so i'm not always too keen on what the other branches operate. no biggie thianks for the info

i don't know what prompted this kind of hateful nonsence, but most people clean their guns disassembled.. rendering them mostly unable to fire. i was going to say more about it but lets not have this kind of talk ok?

FINALLY. nothing is more frustraiting that mastering a corse, car, corners, settings, only to race friends who ride the barriers and T-bone me and then claim i don't know how to play right. i'm happy with this addition. question though, can it be turned off? No it can't be turned off. In my opinion even if it could, the game is better off with it on Solscud and Vostok: You guys have the japanese version huh? I wonder what the differences between the 2 versions are? Does it come the the extra dvd as well? im happy with it on, thanks for the info

i'll wait till i see the games on the DS and PSP. the psp is pretty neat looking and my personal pick for "best hardware" BUT THAT never means the games will be better. i'll wait to see the software released for these platforms.

Who says video games can't be healthy?
KingNor replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Max told me a story like this about someone else he heard about. Did you do a pulse check while doing it? Do you know how much your heart rate changed while doing it? Were you overweight before? Did you change your diet? You DO realize that in most cases unless one is talking about a seriously obese person, losing weight at a faster rate than 1 lb per week results in muscle mass loss as well. Even chemically enhanced athletes can only drop about 2 per week without losing muscle. most people lose weight when relating to videogames because of super poor diet and obbsession with the game. mmorpgs for example. we gamer nerds are notorious for not knowing how to take care of ourselves -

i'm working on getting photos, but what they look like is little mounds maybe half a ich, 1/2 in diameter. they are raised and more or less the same color as the skin, there is no red but if i remember correct, they are a tad lighter than the rest of her skin. a few have gon away but left tiny marks. flea sites document this as normal and taking a few months to go away, but like i said, i'm not entirely convinced its fleas.

where can i go to find very good information on insect bites? a friend of mine is getting eaten alive by something, small bites all over. we thought it was fleas from her new cat, but after washing the cat in flea dip, the sheets in bleach and flea bombing the house, she's still getting bit. we havn't actually found ANY bugs so we thought it might be bed bugs, they hide during the day, but after cleaning her sheets they should have been taken care of. these are definately seem like bites of some kind, not a rash. they're ichy, uncontrolably so, sometimes. they are small and in my opinion look like they come from the inside out... there is no visible "bite" before they swell. medical forums, insect forums, good websites, anything would be helpful, we're gettin pretty frustraited by all this. i don't really know where to start on something like this. thanks guys!

i'd always figured the bulges on the SDF's ships were simply to make them look hand-ish, i had no idea that those would be useful on real ships. though the ones on the SDF look alot more claw like than the bulges on real ships. i wonder if this was forward thinking on the anime's part, or if just happy coincidence

You mean like on the Deadalous and Prometheous (or however you spell em), right? yes

anyone seen the Queen Mary 2? its got a thing called... well i don't know what its called, but it looks alot like the "thumbs" on the SDF Macross. what it does is make a false wave infront of the ship and allows it to "slip" through the water as opposed to "cut" very neat to see it in action as the water just glides up the hull and back down with almost no "wave" effect. very cool, anyway. thought it looked like something MWers would be intrested in. this is the BEST pic i could get of the thing, they recently ran a documentary about the ship on history/science channel or something. look for it.

they wont' make a calvin and hobbes movie. the creator has NEVER merchandised his characters other than his paperback volumes. thats right, ALL the stickers you can buy of calvin and hobbes are bootlegs. ALL OF THEM. he simply will not treat his characters that way. i respect that profoundly. as for this garfeild mumbo jumbo. its a horrible idea. IF they were going to make garfeild a cg cat, they needed to make ALL the pets CG, one cg cat mixed with only real life is stupid. they just wanted to crank out a fast cash cow with as little effort as possible. personally it would have been cool if they'd either gone all CG or made a CG but real-life looking fat ass cat. what they are doing for this movie is low brow at its worst and just plain lame. i won't go.
