  1. I think your right come to think of it... just like the law and order duh-duh sound, youv'e heard it so often it it's like pavlov's dogs... you hear it and automatically have the mental association. The vf is definately the most widely copied, resized, revamped, recolored, and redetailed of any transforming mecha I can think of. The original 1/55 is the most widely re-issued, bootlegged, and loved whether because of macross, robotech, or TF. oh yeah...and battletech That doesn't mean there weren't other designs that weren't as cool. Take the TF whirl [also never seen in the tf cartoon] also known from ovelon I believe. Very cool and accurate design. PRobably becuase they were the same designer I believe. Now go-bots, who were apparently designed by school kids in some type of contest, completely sucked ass. "ha ha... you live in the ghetto... you got go-bots for x-mas..." Granted wasn't the original cyclone based off mospeada? OR was it the other way around? I know I have[or did have] a cykill model that was a varible cyclone kit. doesn't matter... Nothing has seen near the saturation level of the vf-1 as far as transforming things go. 1/55,1/60,1/48,1/100,1/72,1/144,1/200 in assorted colors and flavors, not to mention the variety of kits and customs out there. And just how many prime varients are there... especially ones that look like the g1 and not whatever the current thing is [excluding the masterpiece of course]. Even including ultra-magnus it just don't come close.
  2. lol, why rob? you going to do a custom or just keep it in your treasure chest of toys? i voted for the gbp. the elint i did for estacado had some mods to make it more lineart accurate, if he's willing you can recast this set so it'll look nicer than the stock one =D I'd like to see pics of that. Figure the first run would be just like I got mine, a full conversion kit including head, wings, and seat [depending on which one]. as for everybody saying they would love one of each... For less than 20k I can get all the armor sets digitally scanned and made into a proper injection mold. Theoretically I could spit out sets of armor of original quality in bulk. Unfortunately due to the fact I'm not rich and don't have investors it's not gonna happen. Even if I did... I'd have to send the mold's to sombody I truted in a country that wouldn't immediately slap a cease and desist, so recasting small batches is the way to go. other valk improvments are cool, like fulcy's hips and feet, but that wouldn't be part of the conversion kit. I really want to experiment with the seekers arm mount system and see what else could be atached that meathod... maybe a kangi sword, maybe some friggin huge gundam gun... possabilities
  3. $50 I wish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to send a psx2 overseas with some other stuff, do a LOT of begging, and wait a long time. Well worth it in my mind knowing the effort expended getting those tired molds to put out one last piece of beauty I can call my own. Just have to get an original and make them availible to others. Not that my work will be as pretty as what my cannon is sporting... at least not at first anyways... MAkes me kinda wonder though, knowing all that it would entail... Would anybody be interested in a musha style armor set for the 1/55's? I figure it wouldn't take me to many years to bastardize a gbp-1s edit in oh yeah... sweet work as always mslz22

  5. Why is that? addatives are bad. So iz my spelling. seriously though... what ever they add to disperse the aroma affects how it drys and looks just like you should NEVER use scented acetone to clean your glass, trust me
  6. there is a citadel color shade that looks very close. I don't remember the name and it will take me a while to locate my paints to check as I'm still unpacking. Actualy it might have been a crimson red with a purple wash I did once... The nice thing about washes is you can do more to darken it to the shade you want.
  7. good inspiration to finish some of my projects up. Get those parts yet? Any of it of use?
  8. 81 views and 9 votes! I guess I should have put "shut up and go away" as an option
  9. like pokemon... gotta catch 'em all. I'm getting closer but some of these bot boots are a bugger to track down
  10. thanks to sbarrett4 I now have a joon's hikaru 1j, displacing the taka that had been resting in the box. Looking at it compared to the gandam... was there any real difference between the two besides the color of the canopy? The gandam seems a slightly different shade of grey but that could very likely be due to it's condition. I'll post updated pics of the joon's side by side shortly.
  11. just gauging interest. As some members know I've been wanting to start recasting stuff for quite a while and it looks like I finally have the opportunity. So, since I need an existing toy to make molds from, and since I'm not rich and don't have any besides the recasts I've managed to track down, I'm gonna have to pick me up a pretty one of what ever it turns out you guys want to see first. Figure I'll be trying for on par with jesse's strike recast in quality and price, depending on which kit. The GBP-1s and strike have been done not that long ago and it appears that super o' conversion kits are still availible, so I'm leaning towards the seeker myself... but it's up to you guys. Oh yeah... please vote. There ain't a chance in hell of my wife letting me spend $500 on a stupid toy unless I can justify it as a potential source of income. Damn women and the need to pay the mortgage LOL
  12. you will get to see at least one in the future. I haven't heard of anybody recasting seeker bits for a long time. I would like to give it a shot once I manage to get an original set of armor. Looking at the recast set I have I have no idea how one would successfully recast it. The dish mount appears to have been cast around an already cast bit as it's not "assembled" like the strike cannon. But yeah... a lot more bits and a lot more effort than recasting o' armor.
  13. hey now... no mocking the hippie. I said the second time I transformed it took less than 5 min, I was just super anal the first time. Lord knows I had so many issues with my first 1/60 yammie and not knowing that you had to push that little intake in to get the legs out. I should have asked about that to I guess. Remember the only stupid question is the one unasked and... It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it. I'd happily get another 19a if somebody was willing to trade for a yammie misb yf-21, but I'm not out shopping for yammies as there are a few 1/55's I don't have yet. Anybody got a boxed french one they don't want?

    VE-strike

aww... I have an original O'. I have the armor for it... I just don't have the box. Unfortunately this ended exactly 2 weeks before I had the spare cash http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT If you want to part with it let me know. If you want to hang onto it... I plan on recasting like a $2 whore this time next year so if you can wait for me to score an original, recast it, and get around o letting you know... FYI there was only one person recasting the seeker to my knowledge. That was a while back and the recast armor alone was selling for $120+. He stopped recasting before I found MW and I had one heck of a time trying to track a set down. I finally did but the set I got was the last one that set of molds will ever produce. If you want to pony up $400 plus I can probably get him to make new molds but it's probably easier to wait on my hippie ass, as I plan on doing like jesse and not charging an arm and a leg. Then again... While I love my jesse strike set the quality of my seeker and o' set is soooooo perfect I can only hope to come close when I start recasting. Hell... Keep the O' and sell me the box as my poor seeker is in a joon's box LOL.
  15. IF you remember you were there you didn't do it right! Heck... I only know I went to brussels after amsterdam because my passports says so LOL.A good friend recently went to bosnia. He had a great time and ate at 4 star restaraunts dirt cheap. He does speak fluent russian though and had to hide his americanism LOL. Let me think... Camden market in london is worth seeing one day. Right near bryant park is freddy mercury's old house and you can piss on the wall [at least I did].stonehenge, isle of white, blarney stone, Everybody should do the amsterdam "thing" on morrison's grave in pierre lachaise paris. If you can manage to find a way in the french catacombs are awsome. Just don't get caught entering/leaving them as foriegn cops like to smack around smart-ass americans [or maybe it was just me ] auto bonn for a drive go see a dyke red light district amsterdam or germany the vatican st pauls cathedral there's a lot more to do and see but... to be honest I don't remember that much from that period of my life. Heck, I don't remember yesterday to be honest, cough cough.
  16. Watched it... ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? animated kiddie porn combined with master blaster????????????????? or is it pre-teen dominion tank police???
  17. weren't there a few "paper" plans besides the monster? I'm sure that ugly ass 4' cardboard sdf-1 could be done the same way. Anybody scan that?
  18. look cool next to my 1/144 destroids, but I don't want to know how much it costs... do I?
  19. the 19a was my very first yamato. I got it slightly used in trade for a sword I had spare. I was familier with 1/55's but had heard all sorts of horror stories about the 11b and other mac plus valks so I asked here if anybody had any advise before I transformed for my first time. I ended up pretty much with a complete walk through but that was the old boards and I doubt you could find the post any longer. Anyways I managed to transform it without breaking it in about 40 minutes [did I mention I was SUPER paranoid because of what I'd heard]. Second time I transformed it took only a couple of minutes, once I knew what slid where and how. Just don't force it. I have had the bandai 19 and the yammie 19 is definately a lot nicer. It feels like how bandai shoould have made it... with metal. I got the 19a because I could swap for it and the blue really appealed to me for some reason. I don't know if there are any real differences between the 19a and the 19... I think that was asked before but I don't remember what people said. I haven't broken mine and it's been transformed a number of times. I will say this though... the first time you transform it you can say hello to paint chips. It might just be the way it was painted, or how it sits in the box, but I've never seen one that didn't have some chipping of paint on the metal legs where the wing sometimes rubs. It's not like the leg falls off or anything... just a spot on each leg where the paint is gone. Might be able to do a pre-emptive clear coat to prevent it... but hind sight is always 20 20. I'll do that on my next one as I wouldn't mind two of that particular toy. does that help any?
  20. thats a lot of valks!!!! As for the price of the jetfire... I've seen many a MISB one with uncreased box flap sell for over 1k. Average about 1300-1500. MIB drops it to around $400-500 folded box flap - another $100 Sticker sheet applied - another $100 that brings you to the normal $250 for a minty one with applied stickers complete in a fairly nice box. yellowing, missing bits, tech spechs, robot points, etc can drop it way more. I bought more than one complete and minty jetfire for less than 100, but I had to get an uncreased box elsewhere for about the same. Depends on how anal you are. Just think though... you would be the first person to touch it since the factory! Ant that touch dropped the value 50%
  21. OK... new forum format, my old post count goes by bye. I look up one day and I notice under my avatar it say's I'm a "bridge bunny" ?!?!? WTF I'm laid back and think it's cute, but know I'm sporting the "Global's Pipe Holder" badge and wondering who's been talking crap about me . do these designations do anything for us? Is it simply linked to our post number? Is somebopdy just messing with me? Is there a list of all the possible designations or is it at the whim of a mod I should try to annoy until I become "paper holder for diarehtic zentraedi"???
  22. I almost made a friends girlfriend cry when they were helping us move and I came home to see her trying to wedge my uncreased flap matsu jetfire into tupperware that was to small!!! If I had gotten home ten minutes later I would have had to kill the poor girl.
  23. I say give him some lawn darts and let darwinism take over
  24. there was a first d&d movie???? I remember the cartoon... but no movie... reign of fire?
  25. I think a mirror covering the back would be nice. Get to see the reverse of the toys without handling them, the black back of a mirror would look like black cardboard from the outside. as for images... It is far easier to scan in your own images to your pc, resize them in photoshop, and then getting kinko's to print them the size you want than it is to hand them a copyrighted product and ask them to duplicate it. Seems silly but thats how it is. another option is go to a pet store and get those fish tank/terrarium backdrop sheets. Yeah an underwater background might not be to appropriate but the nice desert ones look pretty cool.
