  1. *ugh* seems like they'd make up any excuse to troll a superior series they knew their own was adapted from. I personally have more of an issue about what that UMA actually is than anything else...
  2. Granted their reactions are quite irrational from our point of view, some would say irrelevant even. But what is there on the vol.1 cover are they raging about now?
  3. Even if that is the case, atleast there's a dual analog which makes controlling the thing better. And I don't have to do it while looking at Sony's patented Tinny-tiny-eye-strain-o-vision PSP screen.
  4. I made this quote couple of pages back regarding this: >It'll come out when HAL is ready, gosh darn it!! Not to mention Macross the First is the flagship title of the mag and it'll be NOTHING without it. Anyone know how his record with meeting his deadline series are like? Ecole de Ciel for instance?
  5. Sorry, the machine I was reading the forums from at the time(and currently) are a bit fiddly with links of all sorts. Some sort of security precaution or something. As a battleship it's not that much better. At least if it's submersible it has a small amount of security to be able to hide from surface radar and visual searches.
  6. Finally picked up my copy (my local shop only just got them in) and it's a lot of fun. While I do have to agree with sketchley that the Mechatronics isn't all that great(a submersible that size? the thing would have such a huge signature just sitting in the water that the Hawaii underwater listening posts would probably detect it while it's in the Indian Ocean...) but Klan as per usual is fun as always. Just the pic of Klan hunched over due to the heavy deep diving helmet she had on had me cracking up, especially the one where she's looking at the reader while standing next to the transformed sub as if to say "WTF?". And in Macross the First, you can really see why Hikaru is that infatuated with Minmei. But enough of that, as a Misa fan I'm eagerly awaiting for her turn to turn on de sexy. Unfortunately it's probably not something we'll see until she got captured in the Zentran ship. You know, when her hair got straighten out by the water she fell into with Hikaru. Come on Mikimoto don't fail us now.... And yep, I agree that the Macross Plus manga is pretty pointless as well. No point when it doesn't really bring anything new to the story.
  7. Ahh Mechatronics. It's one of the highlights of the mag, both for Klan and the flat out insane mechs, as evidenced by the last issue duct taped and glue gunned hybrid VF mech.
  8. It'll come out when HAL is ready, gosh darn it!! I actually believe this...
  9. Or August, aren't they going to hold a sort of festival around then?
  10. Damn. That means I won't be able to make it for the movie then. I would have left the country by November.
  11. A point of note: With HMV Japan they only ship using EMS, they don't really have a SAL option for their books and magazines, so keep that in mind if you're keeping an eye on the costs. I personally don't mind since I get them in bulk from them, tracked and insured.
  12. Well actually some theaters actually specializes in playing some animes movies well after it's had it's run in the main complexes. It's actually how I got to watch some of the Kara no Kyoukai movies. I've been told that there is one such one in Shinjiku, thought the one I watched my movies were in Ikebukuro.
  13. This here is for "WORKS" http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3790784from HMV. I haven't found one for Valk2 yet though.
  14. The added problem with camrips is the size of the things. Considering just how bad they are it's not helped by the size of the files, which considering the resolution of the damn things could have been just a fraction of the size. I haven't checked this guy's rips yet but the reported fact that it's split into multiple files means that it's stupidly large. Why anyone would want them is a mystery to me. As for the word on the second movie, nothing as of yet. We're going to have to wait to the aforementioned festival in August for that news as well. Which doesn't sound too hopeful for me as I was planning to be in the country round late October and two months is barely enough time to advertise the movie properly before releasing it.
  15. I don't know, that seems quite unlikely. They usually want to market it for a couple of months at least to ensure proper market saturation to ensure highest sales possible. So I don't think that's happening. We're really going to have to wait till the festival they're holding in august before we have proper news about the BD.
  16. Yeah pretty much, though that's mainly because I pretty much lived on that street in my time in Tokyo. That arcade in that picture still gives me PTSD as it blared out the same penetrating, grating pop song at all times of the day when I was there. It affected me so badly from just such a brief exposure, I fear for the poor souls who actually worked in the place who had to put up with it endlessly... I didn't see it in that cinema though. I ended up in the smallest (and worse one of the three cinemas located there; but I got to see it on a big screen so I can't complain) one just a few steps further down the street and underground. Yep, underground. Had to walk down a set of steps under a building where that one screen cinema is located. It does at least gives a certain 80's charm about it... I take it this cinema in the picture is where they screen Frontier as well?
  17. Well that is understandable since 1.0 is pretty much following the original series' story pretty closely, if you're familiar with it it'll be pretty easy to follow even if you don't understand a word that is being spoken. 2.0 however introduced a new character and took the whole story on a different unfamiliar route. You should have stopped trying and just let it wash over you at that point. Trying to concentrate what is being said and translate it in your head would just get in the way of enjoying it. It's pretty much what I did when I had my Kara no Kyoukai marathon in a cinema in Ikebukuro. Familiar with the story I followed where I can and let the rest wash over me to be deciphered afterwards. As for this webcam things, why even bother really. One of the biggest reason for the movie was the buffed up graphics and visuals and you sure as heck ain't going to see much of that on a webcam capture.
  18. You forgot to mention that they were the VF-1 and the VF-23; and that they were patched together using duct tape and staple gun. Hajime Katoki eat your heart out....
  19. Btw, those who thinks they missed out on the Macross binders and don't want to go with Sketchley's quite frankly reasonable and financially sound alternative, hmv.jp has got them back in stock again.
  20. I managed to get my order thru before they all went from the HMV site. Hopefully this means they'll have my binders already set aside when they ship in a few months time.
  21. Ah well, this means that I'll have to order in the remaining two binders that I need with my next Chronicles batch.
  22. I personally really need to watch beyond the 14th episode. I pretty much stopped there last time I tried, which is strange since from my memory that episode ended on a cliffhanger. If anything that'd make me keep watching beyond that would have been that episode. However I think it was a combination of being worn out by all the previous episodes leading up to it, and being buried in more pressing issues that took all of my time at that particular moment contributed to me stopping dead with the series. I suppose that cliffhanger was some 7 episodes too late to me by the time it came around.
  23. While the improvement is welcomed, it's far too late to expect it to do anything great at this point in time I'm afraid. Like you said it's pretty much ending in the next volume. I'm following it on the magazine it's serialized in and even though they're in the middle of the final battle they're pretty much rushing it to it's end. And unusually it's the anime that is more detailed in it's storytelling than the manga when it's usually the other way around. Btw, just in case people forgot: Macross Ace Vol.3 is out 11/13 next month.
  24. Yep, at least 2 in the game anyway. It was glorious seeing at work taking out an end boss destroyer in one of the missions with just one shot.
  25. I believe thats largely by the film companies since DVD sales are a part of their cash cow. What ever they make on the box office, they can easily make double, tripe even, of that on DVD sales. That's even before they start "double dipping". Region encoding is a sore point point of contention with me at the moment due very much my PS3. A large amount of my DVD collection are imported and of which I pay through my nose for but because of the region encoding on the PS3, well over 90% of my DVDs are useless on it. Which is why if anyone want to make an argument for region encoding just doesn't cut it with me. Yeah I remember a friend of mine talking about the video stores of Little Tokyo. I used to get very jealous on how easy it was for him to get access to so many shows and not just anime from Japan back then. He would sometimes make a copy and sent it to me. Good times. Sad to see those go.
