  1. I hope so. I was expecting to see the resolution of Frontier vs Galaxy storyline in the 2nd movie alluded by the end of the tv series but looking at the trailers that might not be happening, due to the fact that's not enough time to do that properly. I could very well be wrong but it seems that way to me. A second series would be a great way to tell that story. Edit: Taking it over to 2nd F Movie Thread...
  2. I think he changed his provider. His new hp link
  3. I know right? Hell, I've been screaming out "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING??!!" ever since I saw it, surprised that one one else on the island ever did.
  4. I'd say at least one and a half decades old. But good luck anyway.
  5. Knowing his luck he'll end up with a shower scene cel alright. Just not the one he wanted.... *heh*
  6. Sounds like someone just got the shower scene cel prints.....
  7. Might as well start this up: So what film cels did people get? I got Alto in this EX Gear. Nothing too special really... Don't have a camera otherwise I'll post a pic of it up.
  8. Granted, one has to admit DYRL gave us the greatest Macross song ever. Nothing can ever hope to live up to that, as much as we wished for it.
  9. Same problem here. HMV sometimes don't allocate their stock too well. I've pre ordered stuff from them months ahead of time only to get an email from them saying they sold out of their stock come release day and they're ordering more in. It's a pain.
  10. I picked up a handful of the Macross related mangas recently released this week and been having fun with them, the only down side was that I missed out on the Sheryl's manga, totally sold out. Anyone have it and what did they think of it? Since it's unlikely my local store will bring in any back issues of it I'm wondering if it's worth my while to order it in or maybe even pick it up when I head to Japan later in the year.
  11. That's very unusual for a recently released manga to fall under the "Discontinued" category, especially for such a brand name title series. It can't have been sold out everywhere, I mean, it's not like it was a limited print only or something. Try hmv, they should still have copies.
  12. Yeah, that had me smiling when I saw it. It's also showing that Grobal has an eye for the ladies which the director admitted to before.
  13. This is also the case with Macross 7. They know the characters and mainly for the music but the original series? They have no idea.
  14. Strangely enough CDJapan finally put the BD of the movie+game on their site after apologizing that they couldn't before to a fellow MW member due to the hybrid nature of the package. Guess money talks and they just gave in: "Itsuwari no uta hime" Hybrid pack
  15. Wait. Where are you going sketchley? SKETCHLEY!!! My nerdiest moment has to be braving the crowds and 2 hour wait in line to get to the official launch of Macross Frontier at the Tokyo Anime Fair. What a hateful journey it was. While crowds are unavoidable in Tokyo in general, inside the convention center it was so crowded you WILL be jostled, bumped and pushed around, something very strange in a usually polite Japanese society. It's not unusual to be tugged in 5 different directions at the same time and not something you'd realise could happen until you actually experienced it. A friend of mine who was there with me the day before actually vowed to knock out the very next person to bump into him without offering an apology immediately after. It was worth it though since I got to see the OP of the show for the first time with everyone else and was in attendance at May'N 's second live performance at the satelight booth. And then there was the unintended and impromptu staring contest with Kawamori(which I lost). As fun as it was, I can tell you I'm not doing that again though. Which is why I sneered at my friend when he suggested Tokyo Game Show recently.
  16. Hell, I'm doing my bit. If the company isn't doing it for whatever reason, then they're not(entrenchment). Doesn't mean other companies aren't doing it for their properties though. A-1/Ufotable/Sony is pretty much rumored to be releasing their BD of Kara no Kyoukai movies with subs. At 52000 yen + tax and on a format that still isn't as widely accepted as DVDs, they'd better and it makes sense too.
  17. Unfortunately I will be spending most of my time on my next trip in the Kanto/Tokyo area where the JR pass would be most useful to my needs where JR has a greater coverage of the metropolitan area and beyond. The Surutto pass would be quite useful to my time in Osaka though since I will be there for exactly 3 days, unfortunately due to schedule constraints in the West, time is of the essence hence the Shinkansen and JR pass. Otherwise I would have quite gladly make use it and of the overnight bus to Tokyo which would give me more time in the West(Yes I prefer and enjoy spending time in Osaka/Kansai/West more than Tokyo. It's more... "alive" shall we say?) Anyway back on subject; So what do you guys think the coming issue will cover? The 1st movie release on BD/DVD(CD Japan just got the DVD listed on their site for those who don't have a BD player) of course and obivously more on the 2nd, or are we going to have to wait till the issue after that for it? Hopefully something more about the so-called christmas special as well.
  18. Which is why I mentioned the JR Pass. You pretty much recoup the entire cost of the pass on just one shinkansen hop to anywhere plus you got the added benefit of boarding any JR line for free afterwards for the duration of the pass. How long did the bus trip take? 5 or more hours?
  19. Well, 30,000 yen would barely cover accomodations for 3 days from personal experience. A week if you really nickle and dime it by sleeping in capsules and internet cafes(something I hadn't had to do, thankfully). The shinkansen between Osaka and Tokyo would have eaten half of that budget on just one trip if you didn't have a JR Pass. Hope you at least enjoyed yourself on that trip sketchley. Considering that to went back to stay, you must have. Wow, all four Macross related books on the same day? It's been a long time coming.
  20. I suppose that means that they're currently desperately hoping, more so than the more level-headed members there, for the Robotech movie to get greenlighted so that they can stay relevant then?
  21. Trying to but they kinda made it hard(er) as per my last post stated. While I've never worked in Japan but knowing what I know about the business and general business practices over there what you've stated all sounds far too familiar. i.e. Depts working directly against Depts even though it's the same company? What the heck? I thought we're trying to make money here? You lost the master source code for a critically well received and classic game? WHAT?!! etc. etc. Quite a few Japanese business practices are in general self defeating, something I think you know quite well by now Tochiro.
  22. Actually I wasn't even thinking of subtitles being included. It will be nice of course but I wasn't expecting them to do that at all for this. I just thought they would benefit from some overseas sales that woud naturally occur in this so-called "Global Market" rather than restricting them. They are after all fans out there outside of Japan even if they are ridiculously small compared to their local/core market. I mean you're looking at a market that's willing to pay what they're asking for them, which everyone agrees are seriously overpriced, and then on top of that pay to have it shipped over to them.
  23. It also makes sense since the franchise is probably never going to see light outside of Japan in any licenced capacity. *grumble grumble HG grumble* So why not capitalise on the import market then. It being only a fraction of the sales is still sales being made.
  24. Thanks for that news Keith, I was actually waiting for them to put the item on their site. Don't know why it's a problem with them since they're starting to sell games as well.
