Best Movie Badguy of all time?
TangledThorns replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
David James as Koobus was a bad ass merc villain in District 9. I'm surprised we don't see more of his acting in Hollywood films. -
More Bond sountrack love. This time for Eric Serra for his work on Goldeneye. I'm sure most here will recognize his work on Luc Besson's films back in the 1990s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k830wSv9lW8

I agree on Dalton too. Speaking of... The Living Daylights opening song is my favorite of all the Bond films.

It'd be nice if the studios had better control over James Bond franchise, the same way Disney's Marvel does over their films. Its always hit or miss, more miss for the past twenty years.

Yeah, when I first started buying DVDs back in 2001 I never knew what 480p or even 1080p was when it came to televisions but here we are Technology is moving so fast these days and its given me pause when it comes to buying new media. I don't buy CDs anymore too, just use Amazon music.

I grew up on Starblazers and love the Yamato 2199 series but I know I'll feel stupid for buying Blu-rays of Yamato 2199 that say Star Blazers on the disc cover. I'm hoping the series will come to Netflix so I can save the money and watch it there instead. I'm really apprehensive about buying more Blu-rays after my wife and I just sold all our DVDs at a yard sale last weekend. It was nice getting rid of them as they didn't look great on my 1080p plasma and took up storage space. Still, it pained me to think how much money I spent over the years on the DVD collection. It must of been close to a few thousand dollars

I watched The Hunger games with the wife and liked it (not loved) but have no interest in the other young adult films but one thing I noticed in these stories (Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Giver) is a lack of God or any religion for that matter. It seems they all take place in a society where secularism has won and created a dystopia. Are the authors trying to send a message here?

I loved District 9 but couldn't stand Elysium's overbearing message of social justice. Blomkamp uses social justice in films the same way Michael Bay uses dynamite in his. If Chappie is more of the same then Blomkamp is gonna end up being the new M.Night Shyamalan.

Aliens: Colonial Marines morphs into Isolation
TangledThorns replied to Dobber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I paid for the preorder which I have yet to install and play. This experience has turned me off from preordering for good which is bad for developers/publishers that may of released a great game.- 216 replies

Popeye was Robin William's first movie role and is one of my favorite movies growing up. It's kinda cheesy but I loved it as a kid and its worth watching if you've never seen it before.

Even MORE remake madness.......
TangledThorns replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Agreed! B5 is was an under rated show that was ahead of its time. That being said, the series was so epic I wonder if it could be contained in a two hour film. -

As one of the token investors here I am annoyed the project is cancelled. I don't have the hate for HG that most here do because I'd hate to see the property fall into worse hands.- 2025 replies

Terminator 5/Terminator: Genisys, opening July 1, 2015
TangledThorns replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm old enough to remember seeing the first Terminator in theater, I was about 12 years old. Yeah, my parents let me see R-rated movies back then Anyways, I have low expectations for this new film. Especially after the title update. Though... I could be totally wrong about this film. I remember thinking the Terminator TV series would suck especially with Brian Austin Green starring in it but it turned into one of my favorite television series till FOX cancelled it- 508 replies

Star Wars Rebels - animated series
TangledThorns replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It was OK but it still does not get me excited like Clone Wars did. I even saw the movie when it was released years ago. My wife and I were the only ones in the theater, lol. -
Guardians of the Galaxy, on DVD/Blu-Ray December 9, 2014
TangledThorns replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I saw an early show and thought it was a good movie it was just that, good and nothing more. And that's my problem with Disney's Marvel films, they always play it safe which doesn't give me any desire to see the film again. The only Disney Marvel film that I found that didn't play it safe and thought outside the box is Captain America 2, which is still my favorite Marvel film so far.- 344 replies

If you ever get a chance to visit New Zealand go to the WETA Cave in Wellington. It's probably grown since my last visit in 2011 but it was still awesome. Check out the photos we took. On the left is a human sized Sting and on the right is a Hobbit sized version.

Well, this was an American film and I suspect most Americans including those in Hollywood believe our immigration laws are more strict than other nation's when its almost the complete opposite. During my visit to New Zealand in 2011 I read a heart breaking local story about a Cambodian couple that was used as slave labor for a baker for five years and after they had enough abuse they went to the authorities. In the end they were deported back to Cambodia and the baker was fined. Pretty F'ed up. Didn't mean to derail the thread but thought it was in interesting story to share.

I saw the entire trailer but I get your point. If I'm already sold on a film I want to see then I don't need or want to view any more trailers that can contain spoilers.

It'd be nice if DisneyXD brought back Tron: Uprising. That was the best animated series ever developed outside Japan. -
