  1. Daaaaaamn, I might have to get this one. I’ve had a painted S.D. of this on my desk for 15 years!
  2. Meh, never been a fan of that Zaku. Now, how about a Gelgoog Jaeger?
  3. If you look at this page: https://www.gundamkitscollection.com/2019/02/p-bandai-mg-1100-dwadge-zz-ver-release.html It looks like there have been a couple of updates. Seems they've added some posability in the hips, thighs and shoulders. I have an old Rick Dom on my desk that has fixed ball joint hips. I really like this version better, but not enough to drop the P-Bandai $$ on it. Maybe I'll just paint mine like this one.
  4. Just got back, great movie! I still like the first one best, but this was a very good follow up. I swear I had the exact same Lego Space planet fantasy when I was seven... And that song’s totally stuck inside my head.
  5. Yes! The movie had its times of corniness and predictability, but the story & characters were so much more likeable and relatable. These felt like the same characters I watched when I was young, and the movie had a lot of heart. I’m excited that they’re moving forward with the soft reboot.
  6. Wife & I are taking the kids to see this tomorrow, can’t wait!
  7. I still think a BB live action would be better than another vanilla Batman movie. With the obligatory Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne casting. Although, it would be kind of amusing if they cast George Clooney instead...
  8. So apparently Gundam NT will get a 1 day theatrical release in the US, Feb 19: https://www.fathomevents.com/events/gundam-nt And of course, it’s on a damn Tuesday...
  9. Just got home from seeing this. It felt like it was very much the same story as the 07 film, but told in the way that it should have been in the first place. A few more tie-ins to the Bay movies than I’d have liked, but it was pretty good overall. I had to look in the background of Memo’s room during that second. Saw models of the BSG Viper, Enterprise, and a few Tom Baker Doctor Who posters.
  10. Just got home from seeing this with the wife & kids. Wow, how fantastic! Loved the story & music, but the visuals & design were amazing! I thought the low frame rate look would bug me, but I got used to it pretty quickly. The integration of the comic panels, sound effects and omg, the halftone shading! It’s too early to tell how I’d rank this one, but it’s vying for top spot along with Raimi #2 & Homecoming...
  11. Fair enough. While cool, those are a bit much for me too! I really like the 6" scale, and I do have some Star Wars Black Series, but about half of them have been on sale or loosies from eBay. $25 is about my personal cap for an action figure - unless it's something TOTALLY irresistible. I realize this limits me to window shopping in many cases. If these were a bit closer to that range, I'd probably be able to justify a few. Misa & Milia are tempting, though.
  12. These look pretty good, but $45 after discount is pretty steep for an action figure... That being said, a Milia may be required.
  13. That’s Tenjin’s Boxart for the Hasegawa VF-1S, isn’t it?
  14. Although I'm not a huge fan of the "Nano-helmet", I kind of dig it for Cpt. Marvel. It makes a bit more sense in terms of the cosmic tech, but it's really cool that it pushes her long hair up into the mohawk.
  15. Well, that is kinda what happened with Banagher & Clonechar at the end of Unicorn. Although it was less clear if they were literally traveling through time, or just projecting their consciousness. Watched the preview, looks intriguing. But ready for a new style after this one.
  16. Wow, that sounds promising. Interesting too, that Appleseed & GitS are both derivatives of Blade Runner. It's like a turtle returning to nest on the beach where it hatched.
  17. And yes, I've even started thinking about the Stellar Jay livery on other VF's as they move forward in their fictional history. Here's a VF-11, adapted from Mr March's 11C. I know, I got too far into this.
  18. Put too many pics on the last one... Finally, in deciding between the color schemes, here's the battroid options A & B: In this one, the squadron leader just used the same pattern as the others, but I think it loses something. I dunno, what do you all think? Blue VF-1J or White? Given that I've had the VF-1A kit since 2004, I honestly wonder if I'll have these done before my daughter goes to college...
  19. So, as I'd mentioned before, I spent WAY too much time thinking about my custom squadron while planning a full sheet of decals... While doing so, I mapped out flight colors, pilot names and additional color schemes. Taking the cue from SDFM, where Hikaru & Co are part of Vermillion (red) platoon, and his fighter is white with red trim, I figured on each platoon having it's own color - and a jay related nickname as well. The squadron leader really likes birds. So here is the titular Steller's Jay, from which they derive their name: And here's the Squadron's organization. From what little I've read, looks like most pilots in Navy/JSDF would be considered 2nd LT & up, with 1st LT & Cpt being acceptable for platoon leaders, Maj for Squadron leader. So that's what I've gone with for now. For my Hasegawa Fighter VF-1A, Gerwalk VF-1A, & Battroid model kits, I'm focusing on the Bluejay Platoon. Eventually I might actually get these done... The Gerwalk will have the same color scheme as the 1A above. I'm torn on the platoon leader scheme, though. I can't decide if I want to swap the brown for blue, or stay true to the MtF concept and copy Hikaru's scheme from the Manga. Both look good, but I like the bluer one, so I'm leaning toward that. I'm just not sure if they look too distinct and less like one squadron together. For the pilot figures, I planned 2 variations of their color schemes - 1 more SDFM styled and 1 more DYRL. I used the M3 style suit, cuz it's my favorite, but it doesn't matter too much at 1/72. CF pilots get a basic white suit with their platoon coloring on the visor. The Squadron Leader, Maj. Gmelin, takes a more direct inspiration from the Steller's Jay for her livery: I might have to get an additional battered to do this one. Although it's possible that it may stay digital. As I've been working on this, I think I have more fun with this planning and coloring aspect than actually building the models!
  20. My biggest gripe is similar to what has occurred with Macross and the move to CG animation. It seems like once you have a 3D asset for one series, the next series is just going to re-use that asset with a recolor and maybe a few tweaks. Although in Gundam's case, the asset may be more about how much $ they spent tooling the models and trying to milk the molds further. Back to Gunpla, I finally finished dealing my MG Mk-II with the RG style decals. Most of them fit pretty well, despite some differences in the model design. Had to trim a few, and only one set of gray marks was too off to fit, on the inside corner of the front skirt. All in all, I think it looks great, and Elle is ready for launch!
