  1. One has to imagine that Bartley would have been prominent in a Sentinel Wonderfest display. With Wonderfest cancelled, we might have to wait until a preorder listing is imminent and they have studio shots of a near final product.
  2. I was all excited because I thought my Zeta was arriving tomorrow... turns out, it was a different toy. Good to know the Zeta is still coming soon though!
  3. They are in business because they spend almost nothing on the license but make more than that.
  4. COVID messing everything up makes the 8 ball even murkier than usual but we had releases in August and then November in 2020 with TV parts dropping in December. I wouldn't be surprised if this year we have releases in July and November with December again being the accessory (GBP this time). If December is the GBP, it sure seems likely that the November release would be a Hikaru 1J of some sort... but that makes too much sense for Bandai.
  5. Remember, yamato non canon variants sold poorly, part of the reason Yamato went the kit route. Bandai does non canon stuff too though.. like their Focker inspired themes on other vehicles.
  6. Looking forward to seeing this develop and the builds it results in.

    Bandai DX VF-31

They're joking that that toy will get more reissues before other toys we want get a first reissue.
  8. Find the toy it comes with, buy it, keep the stand and sell the toy.
  9. I mean right now, I can buy both Arcadia and KC at MSRP... Not that two minutes every three months when I can buy either a dx or KC at MSRP if I'm lucky. So, KC is basically at Arcadia MSRP now, does that make sense? It's a tough call. The Arcadia toy is much nicer from a fit, finish, build, execution and even sculpt perspective. KC has better paint and articulation.
  10. I think it makes more sense to compare KC to Arcadia since they're available at MSRP.
  11. Looks game related. I know there were two pachinko games at least, have you checked those out?
  12. I saw John Wick 3, Bumblebee, and Terminator DF this break and I gotta say, Bumblebee was my favorite of the three. Granted, none were high cinema. John Wick 3 was the most disappointing.. I couldn't even stay awake. Terminator DF is Terminator 2 on steroids so... I guess that's fitting. Bumblebee probably benefitted from having the lowest expectation going in. I couldn't stand the Bayformers, never even watched the knight one... Edit: said T4 originally but meant Dark Fate
  13. I think Styrofoam is being overly maligned. While I don't doubt that it's not totally inert, and therefore not the perfect storage medium, it's generally seen as being tougher on the paint of the toys than the plastic. Styrofoam is grabby so the toy rocking in the box every time the box is jostled can lead to paint being stripped. As to yellowing, two toys have been mentioned recently in this thread that are absolutely notorious for going yellow, even when not exposed to sunlight: 1) Bandai's version 1 VF-25 toys (particularly the first release 25F/S) 2) Yamato's version 1 1/60 VF-1 toys For the Yamato toys, it's trickier to ferret out because the packaging includes a giant window so even someone who says "It was kept in the dark" may not have realized how much light actually was hitting the item. That said, there are lots of obvious cases of super uneven yellowing for both these toys which is a sign of poor materials. Both these toys didn't get a mix right at some point and the result is plastic that is breaking down without the need of sunlight and heat to help it along. On the VF-25 toys, you can usually tell the toy is made of a few different plastics and one of the plastics is rapidly deteriorating... the nosecone is always one of those parts. On the Yamato toys it similar with the landing gear doors being the most obvious evidence. You'll note that on sealed DX Version 1 VF-25 toys, Mandarake has started putting warnings that say "Risk of color change due to age" because there was apparently a lot of subpar plastic put out there. The only V1 VF-25 toys I have left are the last two releases, the Alto Tornado and the Michael Tornado, neither have yellowing. I'm curious if it's just because it takes a couple more years for the plastic to break down or if they had improved their process by then.
  14. I find it highly unlikely they wouldn't reissue it, without the banking stand, but Bandai lines to keep us on our toes.
  15. No guarantees they would reissue the 1J though....
  16. I'm hoping the delay to January was part of the shipping woes instead of a production issue. If there are production issues AND shipping woes, we'll be quite lucky to get it in January. I ordered one of each so I can compare them on the channel
  17. But something was teased for a few short years from now...

    1/55's revisited

Sorry if this is a page back or something, but didn't someone recently find a Takatoku 1/55 VF-1J that was actually stamped Taiwan instead of Japan?
  19. Wow, Amazon's shipping has really crept up.

Do we know why that particular change was ever implemented? Was there a common breakage point?

I wonder why that auction felt the need to post pictures of the back of the Styrofoam... was some diehard collector convinced it had the wrong Styrofoam for that version?

You have a post toward the beginning of this thread that had pictures showing different versions, any chance you still have those pics?

Absolutely, what a superb item for a collector. Does it have the Jetfire nose?
  24. My job had me discussing COVID and supply chain difficulties with someone the other day and he clued me on to an issue he's been running into: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-global-shipping-container-idUSKBN28K0UA Apparently, his factory has loads of goods built but they can't get the items shipped because there aren't any boats to put the items on. From the sounds of it, this crunch is really slamming all the smaller toy manufacturers with toys that were supposed to be released in January sliding to maybe March. I can't say it's impacting Arcadia but it seems likely. If not them, expect to hear some news of delays for other toys you may have preordered.

That reminds me... there was someone selling them on eBay at one point for pretty cheap. I couldn't track them down just now though but I'll keep an eye out.
