Macross Mecha Manual color interpretations of the line art are just interpretations... they're not canon law. I think I can look past the yellow highlights and still really like this toy... the question is, can I afford another 19?

"Numbers are low" should mean that demand is greater than supply. I did not say Yamato is missing the boat or has a poor business model. I said it's "Been a long time since yamato made a toy that would sell at the quantity of bandais dx renewal toys." I don't understand what you're discussing regarding the secondary market other than to say that the DX Renewals had demand greater than supply. To my point, when was the last time you saw this with a Yamato item? Since you haven't seen this in a long time, do you think this really shows Yamato is doing something right? Don't you think, if you were Yamato, you would love to see your products in such high demand in the secondary market? Yamatos are selling "well enough" as budgeted and modeled and that's good for them and good for those of us who buy their goods. They aren't running into Bandai's supply shortage because they aren't currently building a line of toys for a hot license. Yamato is getting market research that tells them the expected market for a new toy is between 1000 and 2000 units (hypothetically) while Bandai would be getting a range of between 5000 and 10000 units. Obviously it's going to be easier for Bandai to miss its mark... but from Bandai's perspective they probably not too broken up about how things have turned out. That said, I find it VERY unlikely I'll be able to find out the actual number of DX V2 toys that were produced... Bandai doesn't seem very open about these things. I could ask around about the Yamato toys but I'll tell you right now that they're very small production runs.

Seriously, what yamato release do you think would even come close? The valks that cost twice as much for the 15 year old series?

Darrin, maybe I missed it, where were those Shadow Beta pics taken? Comic-con? I'll bite the bullet and buy one when it's released but more out of curiosity's sake than anything.

My bad on that one. I was told that's when the announcement would be but it appears they need to give the accountants a bit more time... which makes sense since they're clearly still working on determining the production quantity.

Thanks, glad you like it. I'm a little slow on posting new reviews right now as life got in the way just before i could get my yamato vf17 review up. Hoping to start getting new content up in a week or so.

My problem with the Elint Legioss is that the parts were placed where they wouldn't make sense for transformation. The radar array would be a big dish on the soldier's butt and the antenna would be a giant penis or abdominal protrusion. The radar array should be attached to the bottom of the craft and flip around to either the back of battroid or on top like the VE-1. The antenna should be attached to the arm (or, two smaller antenna protruding way up like the fins normally would).

We'll know about any more releases or the lack thereof after wonderfest.

First, let me start by saying whoever did that art is a much more accomplished artist than I'll ever be. Having said that, that guy's style does not appeal to me. (speaking specifically about the Legioss above, some of his character stuff and other figures I might find more appealing. The Macross stuff looked... off.)

If we want a silver lining, the drawing of the Alpha looks pretty good in that poster.

Time will tell but while some MWers may be vocal supporters of the D head type and the S type might have some vocal detractors, the S type is definitely the more iconic. Note that Bandai reissued the 17S, not the 17D, back in the ol' days. Add to that some folks who obviously aren't too thrilled with Yamato's rendition of the head and add to that the requirement you have to buy the super parts and pay the biggest MSRP ever and I think many people, like myself, are easily going to pass... especially if we can just buy the super parts separately.

Can someone just ask Bandai why they're being such a bunch of A
jenius replied to Lupin The Third's topic in Toys
Sorry, I don't know anyone who actually works for Bandai. It sounded like a friend of mine was out drinking with either people from Yamato or people from FREX or TREX or whoever it is that did the designing. Even my buddies in Japan have had a hard time preordering some of the newer Bandai items. -
The 17D just became the worst selling Yamato valk ever.

The 1/48s probably no, it's been a while since we've seen one (we may see a 1/48 V2 at some point though... stranger things have happened). The 1/60 V2 Max might get re-released... history tells us that generally when the secondary market gets pretty hot on a toy Yamato eventually gives us a reissue.

I noticed the same thing with the swing bars but it was pretty minor.

I agree, this needs more white. In battroid the little chest cover flap should be black with the jolly roger not the section above it. Its a neat scheme... I'll try to get it, but I think it could be better.
