  1. Three 17Ds? one for each mode? Man, I envy the space you guys must have. I'm on a temporary buying hiatus as I'm totally out of places to put things (my "nerdery" was converted to a "nursery" which didn't help).
  2. Does anyone know where I can get dimensions for the Macross Frontier valks? There aren't many over at the Macross Mecha Manual so it's going to be hard for me to calculate true scales on those. Looks like I could probably do it for fighter mode though.
  3. I know it's a common gray market techinque to deliberately misstate the value of goods but isn't that technically illegal? In my experience, once a company gets reputable enough, it starts caring about legal matters more as it has more to lose. Generally emails to the effect of "Hey, I need your help skirting the laws of my nation" have very low success rates. (Erp, Major Focker beat me to it). Too much pissing and moaning about Bandai lately. We get it... you got first world problems. Lupin's quest is starting to get as annoying as my quest against the collar on the V2's battroid mode. Stupid collar... looks like a robo-priest. Back off topic: Now, back on topic, I was just transforming my 171 and I really hate what they did with the metal swing bar that locks the legs in place. It's clumsy and it doesn't feel like it really gets in the groove even after a ton of massaging.
  4. Try my vf17 post. Ill do another true scale comparison with the Bandai toys and some other Yamato toys when I post my vf4 review, the 171 will be included.
  5. There are fighter mode true scale pics on anymoon also... No company ever nails 1/60 perfectly... They just get it close enough not to really matter. I think the vf19 goes from1/55 in fighter to 1/66 in batroid so it aveages to 1/60.
  6. Not sure if I've done a true scale pic with Bandai toys lately (I should!) but here's a Yamato one:
  7. My theory on the super packs is that they will sell RVF-25 and VF-25G super packs at the same time like they did Ozma/Alto. Sooooo.... you won't see news about the VF-25G super parts until just prior to the release of the RVF-25.
  8. Lucky! Where does one run into Tenjin?
  9. http://www.yamatotoysusa.com/ There is a link for wholesale.
  10. It's kind of surprising because lots of 1/48s have started yellowing. The chest on my Focker is yellowing and it's barely ever seen daylight. Of course, the 1/48 is much better than the 1/60 V1 toys... those yellowed right quick.
  11. Can we all start getting over how hard the preorders are and start recognizing that, for those of us who wanted the toys when they came out and acted quickly upon it, we were all able to get the toys even if we weren't able to preorder? There's such doomsday talk. The 171 was pretty easy to get for a while. The YF-29, VF-25F, and even the VF-25S could be had for those who didn't hem and haw for a month. The only recent exception I saw was the Focker YF-29 and that is quickly being reissued (and I suspect we'll see other reissues this year). God forbid when the scalpers get a hold of these toys and then charge still less than MSRP of new Yamato valks but you get butt hurt and would rather pay Yamato prices if that had been the original MSRP. Bizarre. I'm sure Bandai is thrilled and is making good money from the license. The idea that they should make more so some can warm shelves for a while would probably make them laugh. I do agree though that it sucks HLJ would put a 10 item limit on these toys but I sympathize with them also. Look at the number of toys they've had to slash prices on with their sales. If they could know they'll get nearly full price for all of a particular toy then I could see why they'd do that. Still, if you're going to petition them to reduce the limit you might as well petition them to stop offering early bird discounts as well. "Please make it less desirable to buy toys from you so I have more of a chance of being able to do so."
  12. Tokyo Hunter didn't purchase it for me but I believe MWer Save works with them/him and I know Save lives close to that store where my friend said he bought it. I believe he said it cost 2,000 Yen so price isn't too bad MSRP, not sure what the fee would be for getting someone to go to the store and pick it up is though.
  13. I think Tokyo Hunter is close to this store: http://www.animecenter.jp/ and I think that's where it was purchased. I'll try to put up the dimensions later but it's a decent size and the 3d effect is really sweet.
  14. My friend bought it for me in Akiba, apparently it's limited to like 500 prints.
  15. In high school my buddy dated a girl whose parents lived in this giant home that at one time had a walk in freezer but they had converted it to a theater. My dream would be to own a house like that some day and have the sides of my theater be display cases full of sweet toy goodness. Unfortunately, that'd probably suck because the bass would make the glass rattle. I might have to rethink this. In the meantime: Sun = slow plastic death. When I had Detolfs once upon a time I used posterboard to block off all angles except the forward angle where no sunlight could come in.
  16. What's a facebook?
  17. Remember when Yamato told people that Shin's version was really meant to be the first VF-0A toy they released and that MacrossZero was wrong and that the cannon fodder and Shin's valks were really SUPPOSED to all be the same.... and then like six months later they revealed Shin's VF-0A. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.
  18. I'm guessing we'll have a cadgasm on our hands
  19. I heard from a bird that word its coming soon... I'm guessing winter wonder fest.
  20. Finally have mine... neat.
  21. The head might be a LITTLE big... look at the line art, not the Yamato V2 if you want to talk about battroid mode (and since you're talking about the head you should be). I know the line art aesthetic might not appeal to you but it makes sense that that's what they'd be going for.
  22. Here's a pic of my loot: On top there's a pretty cool piece of art by Tenjin, it's 3D, not sure of the origin but here's a bad pic (I think it's frickin' sweet):
  23. The 171 was hard to preorder but not hard to find after release so I wouldn't freak out too much.
  24. All these people are like "OOh, check out my VF-4 review." Yeah, VF-4 reviews are so YESTERDAY'S news. Where are their reviews for 30 year old toys? Yeah, I'm kickin' it old school:
