  1. Arcadia pushed their Garland from December to July... meaning my Max 1J is hostage fir a while... so it could be worse.
  2. My Miria is in storage right now and I'm knee deep in other toys for reviews so I don't want to go digging right this second. My Max won't ship until July.

    Bandai DX VF-31

My guess is standalone, maybe with missiles for mirage's 262 if they're going to make that. Then you can use the drakens and their mounts for any 31 you own and maybe incentive you to buy mirage's 262... Cuz ya know, you already have the armor.

Negative on mirage, that's a tease for Lil drakens for the VF 31 of all things.
  5. I think it's a healthy debate and there's no harm in continued investigation. The 1/48s had a different style hard point that barely worked so nothing worth looking at there.
  6. It's a huge universe, the idea that she had to be related to the first trilogy characters seems so trite, but that doesn't mean they couldn't come up with something new and compelling.
  7. I'm confused as to why you think the hard points were special on Yamato's M&Ms. Other Yamato toys had them break and they're all the same toy from the same mold. There are several reports of broken Yamato hard points on several releases. Picking rare releases and saying "but I never heard about it" as if telling mw is an official way of registering a complaint is... An odd form of evidence. Any who, my point is that absent evidence, and the lack of evidence is not evidence, it's too soon to say things are worse.
  8. I hope there will be nothing in common with a $20 Toynami toy... KC hasn't laid any real turds yet so no reason to be THAT pessimistic.
  9. I got one on pre-order and am looking forward to putting it through the review ringer... Hopefully in a more timely manner than most of my reviews. I hope it doesn't show up in the same week as Sentinel's ride armor... Though they're currently scheduled a month apart.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Doesn't NY say it won't be in stock with them until the 24th?

Maybe they're going to wait another year or two on the 262 and do a "renewal" version? Eh, probably not. The VF-25 made sense because it sold so well... spending more money on a mold that didn't sell well probably wouldn't make the accountants happy.
  12. So was the Maneuver Book published first and the Yamato box set is sort of a bundling of cool Megazone things in new packaging?
  13. I spent some time today updating my Yamato 1/12 review.... trying to make it more of a Wiki as well as a review. Got pictures of the boxes up and the contents, etc. I've also started doing something that I hope people will find helpful. I've started putting complete scans of the instruction manuals into the review.
  14. I don't know why I'd go through effort trying to convince you your opinion is wrong when you're already choosing to ignore the evidence that's been presented to you. You like your opinion and you're entitled to have it. While my opinion is that the Yamato toys had plenty of QC issues along the way (even M&M), I would leave the door open to the possibility that Arcadia has somehow made it worse. It's possible some valks seem better made then others is just a reflection of how good the factory workers were at that moment in time. Maybe the sheering of the hard points does relate to application of glue when two pieces of the wing are brought together. Since the sheering of hard points seems to be a fairly random QC issue (from the first V2 to Arcadia), I would lean toward it most likely relating to a human element rather than a mold.
  15. You're making the assumption that there are more issues now then there were with Yamato and what you're being told, and what you're ignoring, is that that's not the case. The latest release will ALWAYS have the most vocal outcry about perceived quality issues. You've stepped into a recency fallacy and you don't realize it.
  16. Is that true? I remember reading about Robotech: The Untold Story (sliced and diced Megazone 23) and in it said that one of the many problems was that it spliced footage from Southern Cross, a TV show, with Megazone, an OVA, so the Megazone footage had much higher production standards and there was an obvious drop off in quality every time the Southern Cross footage was shown. The point being that, for that to be true, Megazone was produced in much higher quality than a standard TV show which wouldn't jive with the notion that it's just three TV episodes stitched together. Unless that's to say the sponsor pulled out early and they had enough budget for like six episodes and instead made one movie or something like that. I'll say this, I never saw Megazone until my late 20s and I thought it was really boring... still like the Garland though.
  17. Right... And Yamato rainbow canopies don't crinkle. Not an issue. Edit: I'm being glib, if it doesn't reach the standard of "issue", that's fine and I don't want to go down the semantics hole, but there are several Yamato owners that saw it happen also so obviously Yamato was not immune to hard point breakage.
  18. This thread is all over the map in a fun way. 1) yammies have the hard point issue (probably all releases). That said, it's unclear what the issue is or what causes it. Is it rough removal of the part from the mold? Some of the disconnected hard points could be user error so it's super hard to nail down. Maybe it's rough treatment at the factory so maybe some releases are more prone to it. Maybe the Arcadia toys are more prone to it due to the condition of the mold or some reworking. For Yamatos, the issue is pretty rare but it would take really colorful valks to see early issues and we haven't had colorful valks in a long time. 2) a lot of Yamato's decision making process was probably spurred by investors or creditors. Ironically, they were probably told that if they didn't diversify their price points and products then they were doomed... So they did and got burned. Lots of other issues came into play as well but we don't know enough. Like maybe it seems like they released too many vf1 toys to rapidly and saturated the market but they may have been releasing them so rapidly to solve liquidity issues. I think HMR is a real sweet spot. For Yamato to do 1/60 it meant huge investments in super premium toys. Bandai is able to take smaller bites.
  19. No, the V2 didn't kill Yamato, far from it, but it's a company and no product exists in a bubble. Yamato ran out of cash, they needed to make more cash, ergo, they should have been generating more money. They may have sunk money into products that didn't sell but they would have survived had they generated more cash from the products that did sell.

    Hi-Metal R

So are they planning on selling that as an unlicensed accessory? I might bite.
  21. Last I heard was Stick was scheduled for end of March, Ray for end of April.
  22. Yamato went bankrupt so... That pricing isn't a good barometer.
  23. I guess people are going to believe what they want to believe.
  24. But the Yamato ones have the exact same issue plus the canopy issue.
