Who's your favorite Star Trek Captain?
Zor Primus replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've read thats its either a Sovereign-class or according to a site which talks about a book series the Titan is a new Luna-class ship. Personally I think this Luna-class looks sweeter. -

Who's your favorite Star Trek Captain?

Very good replies here, as we arent necessarily Vulcan sign, Klingon dictionary, Starfleet uniform wearing dorkoids from the Delta Quadrant the debate has been real entertaining reading. I myself voted for Picard, although I'd honestly not put Kirk in second place either. For their times and their ships both were exactly what you wanted in a Captain. Kirk was a hero of his age, he earned respect and the loyalty of his crew through his continued examples of bravery and tactical genius. A true warrior in his time that had no equal. While his mission was to explore, the galaxy wasnt exactly as stable as it was for when Picard took off from Spacedock. Klingons and other hostile races were nipping away at the fledgeling Federation. Kirk worked with meager resources in comparison to Picard and he did a fine achievement regardless. Picard, decades in the future was in a differant time. The Federation had achieved a relative peace and stability that had not been seen before. He was an explorer, first and foremost. His mission was just that, to follow the Prime Directive and expand human knowledge. I feel however a bit more attatched to Picard because we got to see a more personal/human side to him that we could not really phathom with Kirk. Here was a man who for all his greatness at the end of the day was truly alone. Then as Q introduced later in the series the Borg, and the ensuing war with them we got to see the warrior side of Picard. His bravery matched that of Kirk, and who can deny his turmoil when he became Locutus? There is one Captain left out of this poll however that I would have probably voted over both Kirk and Picard...William Riker! -
X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed

There was a scene where Beast came out on TV for a few seconds. It certainly wasnt the blue hairy beast we see here. That could be attributed to what he did in the comics, an expirment gone bad which mutated him further. Not too worried about that. Angel however (here comes the small handists) did seem a little shorter then I would have casted. Plus I would have tried to give him longer hair like he had in the comics. I had read somewhere that they had looked into casting the guy who plays Sawyer in Lost to be Gambit. Too bad they arent gonna have Remy in this film though... Teaser trailer will be seen for peeps going to see Kong damn them, here is a summary of it that I got from superherohype.com The trailer is a montage of scenes from the film. It starts out with a voice over by Patrick Stewart. As he talks about the war of mutants (as well as angels and demons), we see a bunch of very, very brief scenes. Here's what I remember (not necessarily in order): - The X-Men walking down the hall in the basement of the X-Mansion. We see Wolverine, Storm, Kitty Pryde, Colossus, and others. - An exterior shot of the X-Mansion - Storm walking out of the Mansion doors and looking at a cloudy sky. - Quick shot of Professor X in a wheelchair. - A shot of Beast and the other X-Men at what appears to be a funeral. - A shot of Angel, shirtless and in a lab, quickly unfolding his wings in from of some scientists. - A quick shot of the President and his advisors. - Juggernaut in a containment cell. - A shot of Magneto in the woods flanked by Pyro, Juggernaut, and an Asian mutant among others. Magneto delivers a line and dozens of mutants raise their fists in the air. - Cyclops screaming at the sky. - Wolverine meeting Cyclops at Alkali Lake and his glasses flying off and into Wolverine's hand. - Jean Grey waking up on an infirmary table. - An X-Student walking through the halls of the Mansion flying paper airplanes with his powers. - Storm flying through the air, then spinning and knocking people over. - Storm flying and knocking Wolverine out of the way of debris falling down (in a Danger Room training sequence). - A shot of Magneto causing a car to fly up into the cab of a truck. - A shot of Magneto and other mutants walking along the Golden Gate Bridge. The Bridge then starts ripping and bending apart. - A shot of Jean Grey casually walking towards a door in the infirmary and it violently blowing apart. - A scene of Wolverine jumping out of a tree and tearing someone apart with his claws. - A shot of Mystique jumping onto a desk in front of somebody, and her hands are chained together. - Wolverine falling down in a corner in between two walls and as he's falling he's got his claws sticking out slowing his fall and there are sparks flying from his claws. -
The WWE and Pro-Wrestling Thread

Thats so cool! However if memory serves what made Saturday Night's Main Event so unique was that if had featured marquee matches that were not shown on the Saturday/Sunday morning house show broadcasts. In other words we'll get another day of Raw/Smackdown or a scaled down PPV. WWE needs more jobbers! lol -

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire...
Zor Primus replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thinking about LotR and Harry Potter I find it sad that we see student wizards cast and use more magic then a powerful wizard like Gandalf...I mean really what did we see him use of the arcane? I can count two examples, his slamming of the staff against the balrog in FotR and his "pretty bright light" spell he used to deter the Nazgul away from the retreating forces heading back to Mineth Tilus. At least Sauroman threw a fireball at Gandalf in the extended RotK!!! We see more swordplay then spells from Gandalf and that never really sat well with me. -
That was out of line and decidedly uncalled for. 348919[/snapback] Skull's right...get with the program the time frame for RT: The Movie would have had messages like "Vote for Dukakis" or "Vote for Mondale"

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire...
Zor Primus replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I saw the movie and it was wonderful! Best in the series. I'll admit to thinking the series was for kids, my fiance was the one who got me into it. She took me to see the first two movies and well after the second movie I had to find out what happend next so I got the third book and the rest is Harry Potter geekiness heaven. I wonder if this church that banned Harry Potter is the same Church (notice the capital letters to demonstrate what I am talking about) that has its priests fondling alter boys. Just a thought in regards to a hypocritical double standard. -
LOS ANGELES - Actor Pat Morita, whose portrayal of the wise and dry-witted Mr. Miyagi in "The Karate Kid" earned him an Oscar nomination, has died. He was 73. Morita died Thursday at his home in Las Vegas of natural causes, said his wife of 12 years, Evelyn. She said in a statement that her husband, who first rose to fame with a role on "Happy Days," had "dedicated his entire life to acting and comedy." In 1984, he appeared in the role that would define his career and spawn countless affectionate imitations. As Kesuke Miyagi, the mentor to Ralph Macchio's "Daniel-san," he taught karate while trying to catch flies with chopsticks and offering such advice as "wax on, wax off" to guide Daniel through chores to improve his skills. Morita said in a 1986 interview with The Associated Press he was billed as Noriyuki "Pat" Morita in the film because producer Jerry Weintraub wanted him to sound more ethnic. He said he used the billing because it was "the only name my parents gave me." He lost the 1984 best supporting actor award to Haing S. Ngor, who appeared in "The Killing Fields." For years, Morita played small and sometimes demeaning roles in such films as "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and TV series such as "The Odd Couple" and "Green Acres." His first breakthrough came with "Happy Days," and he followed with his own brief series, "Mr. T and Tina." "The Karate Kid," led to three sequels, the last of which, 1994's "The Next Karate Kid," paired him with a young Hilary Swank. Morita was prolific outside of the "Karate Kid" series as well, appearing in "Honeymoon in Vegas," "Spy Hard," "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" and "The Center of the World." He also provided the voice for a character in the Disney movie "Mulan" in 1998. Born in northern California on June 28, 1932, the son of migrant fruit pickers, Morita spent most of his early years in the hospital with spinal tuberculosis. He later recovered only to be sent to a Japanese-American internment camp in Arizona during World War II. "One day I was an invalid," he recalled in a 1989 AP interview. "The next day I was public enemy No. 1 being escorted to an internment camp by an FBI agent wearing a piece." After the war, Morita's family tried to repair their finances by operating a Sacramento restaurant. It was there that Morita first tried his comedy on patrons. Because prospects for a Japanese-American standup comic seemed poor, Morita found steady work in computers at Aerojet General. But at age 30 he entered show business full time. "Only in America could you get away with the kind of comedy I did," he commented. "If I tried it in Japan before the war, it would have been considered blasphemy, and I would have ended in leg irons. " Morita was to be buried at Palm Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery. He is survived by his wife and three daughters from a previous marriage.

Easter Egg for the Episode 3 DVD: On Disc 1 get into the Options Menu and enter 1138. Yoda busts a rap and break dances. This isnt an easter egg, but its pretty scarry nonetheless! -
I wouldn't put down Hackman's Luthor as inferior or less serious then Spacy. We have yet to see the finished product and basing it on a single screenshot is foolish. We all know what kind of an evil bastard Hackman can play. Runaway Jury and Crimson Tide come to mind. Sadly the "Otis Factor" ruined Luthor's image into almost a comical version of Supe's arch nemesis. Oh yeah and MISS TESBACHER!, didn't do it for me either.

But his hands look fine to me... Seriously, I am also excited about this movie. I think keeping it retro enough for the fans of the first two movies is key. I only hope the brief glimpses of his past are just that, brief. From what I read on the site it looks like his self imposed exile was in the deep sea and that he ends up in space at some point in the movie. The pic that shows him in what looks to be a blackened FoS could demonstrate how ruined it was after he nearly wrecked it to become mortal and the battle with Zod and his Acolytes. Richard Pryor was in Superman? Next thing your gonna tell me is that he fought against some Nuclear Man or something in another lame sequal You all have some sick twisted imaginations.

This demands a thread on how life and the world would be a much better place if we all had more Southern Cross! Could we attribute certain administration failures to the fact that Dick Cheney like Anatole Leonard is bald? Therefore W needs more Southern Cross so he could emulate Rolf Emerson? -

I've heard how rude some of the Japanese players are to US players from a friend that used to play FFXI, guess what she plays now? hehe... Abomz, I can't imagine having so many levels fighting the same ole same ole mob. WoW has creatures that look alike, however the zones are pretty much diverse in the sense that you aren't fighting carbon copies all over the place. Is there any PvP in FFXI? I know that for me PvP has never really been my forte or favorite part in a mmorpg but with WoW's system of Battlegrounds (instance zones for PvP) has really gotten me into pvping. In WoW we dont have to worry about rude Japanese players...however the ire of many are the Chinese farmers that spend days sitting there camping areas of interest. So for those who play WoW, where were you when you hit 60?

Told ya Dean...WoW is already in the lead. As for my WoW chars, I have like 10 chars rolled on Argent, ranging from 60-16. My main which is a hunter I rolled in December and made it to 60 in September. My mage which I rolled in January got to 60 a couple of weeks ago. This is playing "casually" and jumping around from other chars that are in the 20's and 30's. I am not the type to grind grind grind...aside from questing I enjoy to rp allot.
