1. Hey guys, hopefully this will cheer yer spirits up! ... definitely not a shadow: http://www.blackfilm.com/20060512/features...est_video.shtml
2. hmmm...i shook hands with seth green, a what's-up to cedric the entertainer during a lakers game, oscar de la joya, jim lee, john cho from american pie, lou ferigno, justine lin of 2 fast 2 furious 3, and hung out and chilled with Sadaharu Oh. not too many hollywood peeps nor super models...but i probably wouldn't recognize them anyway even if they stepped on my toes.
3. what's up fellas, not much on my workbench, or drawing desk ... i've been working on my PG RX-78-2 for a while ... i'm planning to beef it up with twin-canons in the back and in the front, a couple of bazookas. i'm seeing great stuff on this topic, keep 'em coming. maybe i can get some tips on weathering and air brush application. the parts i'm using are of course the PG kit, a 1993 1/60 HG kit and the 1999 B-club FA-78-1 armor conversion parts. i'll probably skip the normal green color and stick with the white, blue, red and gray.
4. hey, how come none of yous peeps are taking pics next to your most beloved action figure?
5. ditto ... but the funny thing is, we're still gonna buy this thing! why? i don't know ... cuz we want to complete our collection? i think the GBP packaging is the best so far.
6. 1/48 = 11 1/48 GBP = 2 1/48 FP = 3 1/60 = 1 1/100 = 1
7. Back in 1983 or '84, my grandfather took me to Cavite City, Philippines to get me a toy and as I passed by a small vendor my eye caught sight of a kanzen henkei 1/55 vf-1j !!! ... heh heh ... but he said "nope" for 1,000 pesos...that was a lot of dough. and almost 23 years later ... i got something better; 1/48 1J with GBP armor! hee hee.
8. damn, i don't know if it's the photo or the off-white balance, but that's some nasty "guacamole" color on that box! and what's with the soft vignette of the chest place for the box cover? and those awful mixture of fonts with some weak-ass photoshop filters! why can't yamato just use the paint scheme on the plane for the box? sorry about the rant...but we're shelling out lots of money on these valkyries and all we get are mediocre styled, oversized boxes. and yamato can't even tighten-up the ankles/feet. my fianée bumped the bookcase with the laundry basket...the GBP-VF1J wobbled and feel, she caught it luckily, but the valkyrie and it's armor fell apart everywhere...but the HG 1/60 Strike Gundam next to the valkyrie stood it's ground like a champ. so anyhow, the funny thing is...we buy 'em, we buy a lot of them valkyries...and not enough of us are bringing up the "these" issues. $150+ ... that's 10 hours of work for some people. families in South America don't even make that much in a month. grrrr!
9. Hi Kurisama, thank you. You have pretty wicked stuff yerself ! What 3D program did you use to create that armor system? I recently bought Hash's Animation Master to dabble with 3D, but my colleagues are all for Maya and Studio Max and all those other heavy hitters. I don't think I'll ever get my hands on them unless I go through a specialized school or work for a video game company. All you guys have fricking great stuff ! I am surprised that we're not getting enough illustrations for the monthy contest: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=18278 Keep them coming guys!
10. here are some old stuff back in '99 ... i'd like to get back to doing this stuff soon. i like visiting these topics becuase it's motivating; seeing you guys' great stuff! ... they're inspiring to me. i'd like to try some macross/robotech stuff too. jason
11. hoy, hoy, hoy! those are pretty dope. i'm interested on a GBP set of stickers.
12. 400334 Thanks for the pics. Plan to do the same when my stealth shows up. I am worried that the dark gray fast packs will look so good that I will want them on all my valks. 400363 i agree with the gray fast packs, or darker fast packs; they look good. i've always been intrigue with the bandai vf-1s strike valkyrie. here's a korean vf-1j i purchased from the Comic Convention in 1995...with some fast packs...and the vf-1s roy fokker reissue with black fast packs.
13. hmmm...i'd always loved mechanical stuff...thanks to japanese cartoons and childhood friends/teachers who said i "suck" at drawing...they provided the fuel to get me to doodle a lot. i switched majors a couple of times...from mechanical, architectural and to finally, graphic design...too bad i couldn't make it to Art Center in Pasadena, CA...but i say, if you like what you're illustrating, just keep doing it and make a mark in the world (actually a well know cartoonist gave me that advise). besides Radd, UN Marine and Sithlord, do any of you guys have illustrations on a website we can all check-out? jason
14. Durable, as in better than model kits...you know, just based on materials used and functionality (don't forget the detailed forms)...these valkyries are well balanced. Of course, there are parts we wish Yamato would create as die-cast parts. For the price we're paying, these valkyries are meant to be displayed, and transformed once in a while...you can't treat them like Sigma 6 figures. Heh, and they're perfect for illustration references!
15. my vf-0s arrived wednesday from tmpanime.com also...everything's cool except with the right chest armor stub (which at first looked as if it cracked off the chest plate) ... it's just loose. very nice indeed. yamato should have made this vf-0s into a 1/48 scale, even for a $190 price ... i think we'll still buy it ... it's inevitable ... we macross/robotech fas are all grows-up, makin' money ... no way you'll pass on these valkyries. overall, i think these are by far the best representation of valkyries by a company; looks, durability, customization and details...er, until some new materials are created for joints to pave way for more poseable versions (like those revoltech joints). 9.5 for me, out of 10.
16. 397930 OOPS...sorry, i meant the vf-1j miria super valkyrie deluxe...what's inside the new super valkyrie stealth that the super valkyrie miria does not have? are you guys all planning to buy the stealth, do you guys recommend waiting for the next production run?
17. so is this new stealth version a limited version? and why the heck is the package so big? what else is inside that the vf-1j does not have?
18. ridiculous ... trying, and about to complete all binaltechs that's currently available ... close to $1100. (withouth the BTAs and the newly chinese version "metal transform") my biggest ebay purchase so far is a yamato 1/48 low viz at $287, shipping included (water decals applied, but everything included with unapplied original decals) does this count?
19. it looks like the stealth valkyrie by itself and the package with the armor are up in sales...everyone's buying them more than the green low viz ... do you guys think the stealth is worth the buy? or just buy for the next set of valkyries?
20. I don't know gang...I'm still waiting for mine. I think Yamato should have stuck with the 1/48 scale for this VF-0S, and for other future macross plus valkyries. But we'll see how it goes...I'm still not digging the battroid mode...just too much lines and angles...and at $150 a pop...the looks definitely gotta top functionality. Fighter mode on the other hand looks great.
21. man, lots of releases in a matter of two to three months ... ... do you guys know if the Low Viz ver. 2 is a "Limited Edition" ? I think i'll skip the purchase for now, and buy later...but I am asking because I do not want to go through the whole ordeal like acquiring the LV v1, and having to pay up to three times the normal price. And as for the Stealth versions...they're not limited, correct?
22. Knight26! What are you talking about! Like that dirty guy from Waterboy says, "Go for it!" I bought the engagement ring while in the middle of the a 1/48 Low Viz acquisition, a CF and a Koenig Monster! Now, I'm debating whether to buy or not buy the upcoming GBP v2, Stealth and Low Viz v2 ... cuz my fiancée and I are in limbo on the wedding invitations issue. I didn't tell her about the VF-0 purchase though...hee hee. You can do it man! I earn peanuts as a designer...I'm sure you folks are better off too! Jason
23. nerds. heh heh. me too! but, true fighter mode looks great. the battloid mode is just straight...the robot looks too stiff. and yamato better have tightened the ankles because these 1/48 are just too wobbly...especially with the GBP armor. and the box...sheeesh man! we're paying over $150 for this thing...man, those guys can sure use some new fresh graphic designers. and one can't even display the box because it's huge. i know it's too early to judge, so i'm waiting for mine from tmpanime and we'll see.

Stealth!!

stealth was alright...low viz jets...half r-type, half yf-22...i think if those fools would have made a macross live movie, it would have done way better... but of course it's not the jets we're talking about here...hells no...you guys know that it's Jessica Biel that we need to talk about! so uh, anyway, anyone here tried disecting a 1/48 F-14 so that it follows a silimar transformation as the Yamato jets?
25. dude, it doesn't look like a sci-fi phaser/laser/blaster anymore when you added that forearm-grip-looking thing...just like a regular pistol now.
