  1. Whats up with the YF19 and YF21 not having missiles?
  2. The guy who spends half his time bumping threads that he last replied to is the one calling for interesting discussion? Hilarious.
  3. Stop adding words he didn't say. He said, and I quote: They are not "THE symbol of America." Sorry, I realize you military nuts would like to thing otherwise. The symbol of America is pop culture and McDonalds... not a big ship that most people don't care about.
  4. The anime industry has always been about making money and appeasing the sponsors who need to sell merchandise. Don't try and fool yourself into thinking otherwise.
  5. That's all well and good, but they are not "THE" symbol of America, as Hingten claims.
  6. Uh, no. When the rest of the world thinks of the US, aircraft carriers are not the first thing they thing about.
  7. Tried to make it through the first episode and had a hard time. The mecha are ugly, the characters are ugly and racing around on a freeway is boring. Props for not throwing in a moƩ character, though.
  8. I actually wonder why you'd care what an aircraft carrier is called.
  9. The pre-pubescent guy screaming whales at the very beginning reminded me why I don't listen to podcasts.
  10. Finally, huh? Seems like you've been talking about getting one for years.
  11. From my latest purchase on Yahoo Auctions. Something you might want to consider is why both the $70 Yamato toy and the new model kit look substantially worse than a 20 year old model kit.
  12. The Jumbo Grades are easily my favorite Gundam toy line, as I just like toys that sit there and look cool. Haven't picked up the Zeta Gundam yet, though. It's getting cheaper here, though. Saw it for about 14,500yen last month.
  13. Arihiro Hase died in 1996, well after Kawamori had worked on M+ and M7.
  14. Exactly. It had seemed like people had always been lauding it as some gritty take on the One Year War, and it absolutely wasn't. I'll admit that I was hesitant to check it out at first simply because of the CG, excellent battles or not the idea of an all-CG Gundam really turned me off. I was pleasantly surprised to find out not only was the CG not that bad, but the rest of the series more than made up for it. I think it's clear that the staff on Igloo are some old school, military-lovin' fans because the kind of details they put into Igloo are great. The later episodes that deal with the desperation of Zeon's situation are a much more subtle reference to WW2 Germany than either the original MSG's "Hey, Giren, you're Hitler" or 0080's German style costumes. One of my pet peeves with OYW spin-offs is just how over the years they've absolutely cluttered up the period. It's kind of absurd when you think of how many Mobile Suit variations were supposed to have been produced during this short period when you add up all the additions from the various spin-offs and OAVs. I was thankful that Igloo managed to avoid that (mostly), but it was likely also the reason why it got the shaft by the Bandai higher ups as it meant less product they could push.
  15. Igloo is easily one of the best One Year War spinoffs, if not the best. Lots of fan service for military nuts (some of the parallels to Nazi Germany in later episodes are great) and amazingly... it's a Gundam series without a frickin' Gundam or a ton of new unnecessary mobile suits. It's the gritty, more realistic Gundam I had always hoped they'd make. 08th MS Team would have been a lot better if it focused solely on GM's and wasn't so anime-ish. 0080 was good but it's really overrated by people who want to try and appear intellectual.
  16. Material from Genocyber is hard to find, I'm not even sure if it even had an art book released for it... I've never seen one in the shops here in Tokyo or on Yahoo Auctions. Oddly, I just wrote about Genocyber for Colony Crop a few days ago: http://www.colonydrop.com/index.php/2009/0...enocyber?blog=1
  17. Yeah, when I first tried to download it, it told me the maximum number of peers had been reach and wouldn't let me connect. Then when I finally was able to connect, downloaded very quickly. Haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet, though.
  18. Very cool to see a build up of a kit that isn't seen much around here. I've been trying to find that damn issue of B-Club for about six months and still no luck...
  19. It looks like they put a filter over the video the hide the poor source quality, but it ends up looking terrible.
