  1. Considering the kind of Robotech products that were being released, i.e. licensed products by other companies, I would guess they were just handing out the license without giving much thought to the direction of the franchise itself. In which case, HG explanation is perfectly feasible.
  2. As tag-team partners in the Western States Arm Wrestling Semi-Pro League, I'm afraid it would be impossible for us to judge each others posts without bias. Such is the nature of semi-professional arm wrestling and the bonds formed therein. Not to mention that I struggle to find a single post bequeathed by either A1 or myself unto this board that is deserving of moderation.
  3. Better things to do... Like writing 1600+ superfluous posts yourself?
  4. Agent One and I are still waiting to hear back on our applications to be moderators. Any word on that?
  5. I would be really disappointed if they just ported the Gundam Battle games over to the PS3, as the Battle series is just a grindy, limited little game. If they're going to do a console game they should do a proper one that actually takes advantage of the system and make it an epic game. Use OYW: Project Pegasus as a starting off point, and make a balls-out great game from the ground up that actually captures some of the epic sensations from the series. This of course will never happen because Bandai realizes it can turn out mediocre junk and people will buy it because it has the name GUNDAM. Also, Giren's Greed is clearly the best Gundam game.
  6. A guy with the name Vifam participating in an ugly mecha thread is hilariously ironic.
  7. Uh, I'm sure that if you include all of the MSV and side stories and such, Gundam would far eclipse Transformers. Considering that the Giren's Greed games now have something like 200+ units and that's only the OYW to CCA without even every single side story. Throw in the later timeline shows and the AC stuff and you're talking a ton of designs.
  8. Doesn't this TF&TF argument come up every few months? The point is, the original wasn't a racing movie. It was an action movie first and foremost, just set among street racing culture. I have no idea where people get the idea that it's "disrespectful," because street racers are douchebags and don't deserve any respect. If you were looking for an authentic racing movie then you clearly picked the wrong movie, as street racing is boring as f*ck and the people who do it are idiots. In fact, TF&TF managed to make street racing and that dumb street car culture infinitely more annoying. It's an entertaining movie, but if you're the guy that takes cars SO SERIOUSLY you can't laugh at all the hilarity in that movie, you take this stuff too seriously.
  9. Perhaps the reason why it "isn't anything special" is because it's been so copied and borrowed from, its simplicity gets lost in the sea of imitators that followed after it. Gee, I wonder why? Probably because it was the first non-super robot design, and basically created the entire "real" genre? I would say that as a design it was the most influential and important mecha design in the history of mecha design, and that alone makes is a good design. A bad design wouldn't have had the same effect that it did.
  10. He told me the other day he was planning on upgrading to an Ariel Atom for his next car.
  11. I gave the RE5 demo a shot at my friend's house and as a non-Resident Evil fan, I was kind of surprised at what an amazing job it did in the first two minutes to make he hate it. The control, the level design; nearly every aspect of it seemed to be a damning example of why the Japanese game industry is in such dire straights, creatively. You have a game series that started on a more restricted system, and rather than updating the core mechanics of the game as technology has advanced enough so as to allow the developers to make a properly modern game, they're too afraid to piss off the series' die-hard fans and keep around way too much legacy baggage that makes it play painfully archaicly next to a proper game like Gears. Famitsu summed it up well (unintentionally) by stating one-button hot keys to switch weapons were a great new feature. You shouldn't be praising a game for allowing you to press the d-pad to switch weapons, you should be asking why the hell didn't they do this before, like every other game in the last 10 years.
  12. Not toys, but I figured I'd throw these on here anyways. My latest acquisitions from Yahoo Auctions. Just stole these pictures from the auction, I'll see if I can take some better ones myself soon.
  13. Katoki's redesigns are easily the worst thing to happen to Gundam mecha design, aside from Okawara refusing to retire. The original RX-78 is the Citizen Kane of mecha designs, and anyone who thinks it should be given the "Special Edition" treatment is sorely misguided.
  14. I've always thought both the GP-01 and Alex borrow too much from the original Gundam design. I don't find either of them particularly interesting, in terms of design. The GP-02 is nifty, though.
  15. Just in case you were wondering what would happen if someone made a live-action superhero series that doesn't suck, look no further: http://marvel.com/animation/Japanese_Spider-Man Marvel.com has started putting streaming episodes up, with subtitles. He's a motorcycle driving badass with a giant robot, so he's approximately 10000000x cooler than the original Spider-Man.
  16. Yeah, if you can scan it in nice and large we could give it a shot. Just don't ruin your book or anything trying to do it!
  17. Honestly, I absolutely hate Dreamweaver. I think its a terrible piece of software that can be incredibly frustrating with most things and sort of helpful once in a while. I used it for a while and then finally gave up on it, as it just wasn't worth the headaches. 505thAirborne: One of the benefits of starting from scratch at a community college class (or own your own, with a basic HTML tutorial in a plain text editor) is that you can get a feel for the basics without having to worry about learning a new piece of software while at the same time having to learn about HTML and CSS and PHP. After a bit of practice you'll be able to get a feel for what you want to do and what works with you, and then once you have the fundamentals is a good time to start learning Dreamweaver.
  18. How does that work? Struggling to see any parallels to the VF-1 with the Alex.
  19. You really don't need a powerful computer to make a website, for starters. But if you're serious about making a professional looking business website, you're probably a lot better off going to someone with actual experience making websites. It's a bit more complicated than just throwing stuff together in an editor, especially if you're trying to do online shopping and that kind of stuff. If you're insistent on doing it yourself, I'd recommend taking some classes at a local community college to cover the basics.
  20. I paid 2000yen for it, which seemed like a decent deal at the time considering the MSRP I think was around 4,000. I tend to hate small, finicky toys so I'm not sure if I'd pay much more than 2000yen for it. HLJ has it for 3600yen, though: http://hlj.com/product/TKT71953
  21. Unsubtitled raws of the series are floating around on the internet, so there's something out there. Some cool designs, but nearly everything I've heard about the actual series is that it isn't very good.
  22. I found it at a toy/hobby show here in Tokyo back in the spring. It doesn't seem to be that common. Manufactured by Takara to go with their other VOTOMS toys. It's actually kind of a cr*p toy; too tiny, joints are too lose, can't hold a pose, etc.
