  1. I'm skipping out on ODST as well. Halo's draw for me has always been the multiplayer, so getting the same multiplayer plus a horde mode for $60 isn't too interesting to me. Not to mention Operation Flashpoint 2 comes out pretty soon, then Modern Warfare 2 and then Perfect Dark. More than enough FPS releases to keep me occupied.
  2. http://movies.nytimes.com/2009/09/18/movie...evangelion.html New York Times says what anime fans are too afraid to admit: this movie isn't very good.
  3. That last page has weapon specs and such. Looks like it might be for an RPG?
  4. Yeah, good points. Reliability and resale value are two extremely good reasons not to buy a supercar.
  5. Who didn't? That movie ruled. My idea for a Rambo V would be that he goes back to Afghanistan and kills all the Taliban that he helped in Rambo 3. "Dedicated to the courageous mujahideen freedom fighters of Afghanistan," indeed.
  6. Because they'd rather pay way more for gucci hardware? I've known guys who bought MBP's and just ran XP on them, so never under estimate someone's willingness to over pay.
  7. I thought this was for BEST sci-fi film, not worst?
  8. I love that everyone is letting their blind hatred of HG completely eclipse the fact that the rights owners of Battletech are entirely in the wrong. I don't care what you think about Robotech, ripping off someone else designs you didn't have the rights to is worse than whatever complaints you could lodge against HG for what they did with Robotech. Furthermore, while HG might be notorious apefaces when it comes to threatening to sue people, I absolutely fail to see how the current rights owners to Battletech/Mechwarrior would have any legal right to stand on.
  9. FASA used designs from anime series like Dougram, Macross and Crusher Joe for their Battletech game that they didn't have the rights to. Harmony Gold believes they own the rights to the designs from the Macross series. An out of court settlement in the early 90s resulted in these designs being pulled from Battletech products, although apparently some of them appear in the newest Mechwarrior game.
  10. Looks like he's actually lost a bit of weight since I saw him in concert (seriously) back in 2006.
  11. Just ripped it, as I had the isos. As far as I know there aren't any emulators that can play PS1 discs. With the default settings the emulator sometimes dropped audio sync during the cutscenes and there was some choppyness, but it looks like there's a work around for it. Haven't tried it out yet, though. Might be better off playing it on a PC emulator in any case, as the game is mouse compatible and from what I hear the mouse makes the shooting portions way easier to deal with.
  12. Excillion, how does a 15 year old like you get all the money to trick out a sweet ride?
  13. Maybe ten years ago, but certainly not now. That's not true either. But whatever helps you sleep at night.
  14. Doesn't look like this was mentioned here yet, but the fan translation of Policenauts was recently completed. The patch is available here: http://junkerhq.net/index.php It's pretty awesome. I've been playing it on my hacked Xbox and really enjoying it.
  15. No. UFO catchers make up a large portion of arcade floor space in Japan, but they definitely don't dominate them. Rhythm games don't hold nearly the same popularity that they used to, with stuff like DDR being practically non-existent. Konami's latest Bemani game was for all intents, a flop. Fighters are pretty popular, SFIV helped and the latest Tekken has stayed popular. As far as I can tell, the big thing now are card games like Lord of Vermillion. The Gundam POD game has also remained popular despite it being released a few years ago, thanks largely to constant updates. In any case, plenty games are still being developed for the arcade and arcades are still very plentiful in Japan which leads me to believe that no, it isn't just an issue of home console hardware.
  16. And yet arcades continued on in Japan, so it isn't just a hardware issue.
  17. And this is the internet, who would have guessed there'd be hyperbole in arguments here?
  18. I don't think bosozoku cars quite fall under "rice," but LOL INTERNET PHOTO.
  19. I wouldn't hold your breath for an OAV release, that market is almost entirely dead.
  20. Exactly. I'm not sure how MD Geist got the reputation it did for being "the worst," although it might have been a backlash against how hard CPM pushed it. Maybe people were just tired of seeing that stupid 3D Geist before every CPM video. Honestly, it was pretty par for the course of the ultraviolent OAVs from that era, but it must have done something right if people are still talking about it.
  21. Except it really isn't. MD Geist falls into the category of "so bad it's good," as in it's the kind of anime you watch with some friends while sharing a couple of six packs. It's absurd, it's ridiculous, it was directed by a 24 year old mechanical designed with no directorial experience who designed the suit before he came up with the story. There were plenty of 80s OAVs that were so unbelievably average and unremarkable you'd be hard pressed to recount any details about them a week after watching it. That probably won't be a problem with MD Geist.
  22. So after taking a break from Macross fandom I decided to write up a review of DYRL for the world's most hated anime blog: http://www.colonydrop.com/index.php/2009/0...ber-love?blog=1 There's some decent discussion in the comments, although I'm guessing most people here will complain that I didn't acknowledge it as the Best Film Ever Made.
  23. I just moved back to the US this week, so I can probably make it.
