  1. Maybe they didn't expect it to be popular enough to be worth risking making too many since it only appears in a game and for tiny amount of time in anime. (like how vf-4 was for SDFM) I bet this will get repaints. I think they are testing to see reactions first.
  2. Amen bro. I would much rather pay a premium for premium quality item without hassle of waiting for the item to be available, than a cheap alternative which is hard to obtain because the company restricts availability on purpose. When I was younger that kind of thing excited me but it's so annoying now. Hopefully arcadia don't go belly up like yamato. I have already saved up my money for the upcoming vf-0d. Love the progress bandai has made but its like they only exist in the macross space to kill arcadia then they relax after they kill them off lol
  3. What are the differences aside from markings between the older bandai release and this one? I will probably skip this since I already one 1 monster already. But I am interested to know about these changes.
  4. I put in an order. Didn't jump in last time.
  5. VF-2SS Also if it going to be super expensive include a stand that has speakers in it and under the base is mp3 player preloaded with songs from the macross II soundtrack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4D4rocwLDOs Arcadia should also do bad guy power armor from macross II as well. The dude in the demonic red mech looked pretty cool. Do something that bandai isn't going to want to do. Limit the release of mac II stuff to keep the price high on the second hand market so collectors can feel good buying it despite the high initial prices. Innovate by adding stuff like better stands that are heavy in the base so it doesn't feel cheap.
  6. Ok if it appears again on HLJ I am thinking of cancelling the ami ami order and going with them. (do they allow cancellations?) It's my fault for waiting so long. I tend to be on the side of the skeptics when it comes to this artificial shortages conspiracy. Seems weird to stop order when this thing isn't coming out till next year. They'll probably put it up again after the sale hehe
  7. So will this edition explode into a million pieces like the cannon fodder version or be more like the alto version which was good? I haven't got many vf-171 except for alto thanks to the cannon fodder not being safe to buy. What is the chance we see a cannon fodder edition that is problem-free
  8. 1/60 would go well all the other toys. But then some of the less complex zentradi power armor would be huge. For enemy mecha (which is usually bigger than human mecha because they are giants sitting inside an already giant robot) I actually prefer 1/100 scale. The Monster you see is already big at 1/100. I doubt many collectors could afford a 1/60 or have space for such a large human mecha. You got to look at 1/100 as the scale people may want to create an interesting battlescene with "aliens vs humans". You could do it with 1/60 but it's only one to one. I doubt many here have space to show a squad of Qrau grunt mechas at 1/60 vs 1/60 vf-1 valks. Because you'd need lots of space. Remember when you see the cannon fodder pilots fighting in the earliest episode of SDFM an they are fighting off enemy pods by ducking behind cover and firing from protected position and using the buildings to hide? They don't just fly in the air or fight in space. They can actually kill things on the floor too. That's easier with tiny action figures where zoomed out view is better. I guess many people here don't see the appeal of having small figs because they limit their display to big toys only. One of the main villains in SDFM rides in a Glaug. You'll never get that at 1/60 because its too huge. But at 1/100 you could have hikaru vs kamji one vs one. There are aircraft enthusiasts on here that only buy planes and have no interest in enemy mechas or destroids. I get that because the heroes kick butt in the planes. But for the rest of us fans of macross we think it's time to explore the other stuff now. How many times do you want to buy the same exact toy in a different color? lol At least transformers fans get different stuff to look forward too haha. And multiple sizes for the same character. (ie leader class, deluxe class, voyager class etc) A glaug at 1/100 complete with a Glaug Booster attachment (the zentradi equivalent to a FAST pack for the glaug) would be reasonable size. I'm telling you that you wil never see villains at 1/60 as only a few would have space or could afford that. Posability would probably be limited too given how heavy these things can get. But at 1/100 you could get away with better poses and these would be fun to hold in your hand.
  9. Yeah but the konig monster is getting the renewal name isn't it and the only different thing is color and price lol
  10. The color looks nice. The best dark valk is still sv-51 ivanov imo. I bet the canon fodder of the next series is still vf-25 modified for noobs and not the 29. It still looks too heroic. Don't forget the reason you saw vf-19 being used in macross 7 was because only the special pilots/aces used those. And the vf-17 was for heavy valk usage (loads of guns all over the place) not the standard. At the time vf-11 was cannon fodder and had limited speed and weapons but had fast packs. I still think the vf-25 with FP would be cannon fodder in next series going by this pattern and not 29. 29 would most likely be used by ace pilots who needed the better stuff while cannon fodder uses the swing wing valks. vf-19 = funny forward swept wings = used by ace pilots for high maneuvability/speed vf-17 = ninjas/assassins = used by delta force/chuck norris spec ops guys with heavy equipment like secret large beam guns hidden in legs not seen by public much vf-11 = swing wings just like vf-1 from sdfm = used by noobs ...so my prediction: vf-29 = funny forward swept wings = aces for next series for high maneuverability/speed vf-27 = used by ninjas/assassins = used by sniper duty characters for stealth missions/black ops. more secret equipment possibly gets to have officially banned crap if they can avoid getting seen. anything with '7' is the 007 james bond sh!t. vf-25 = swing wing = used by the new recruits and cannon fodder pilots who got an upgrade from vf-171.But they get the FP as standard, not as upgrade. (in line with the modded vf-1 in DYRL where everyone gets more missiles compared to the cannon fodder guys seen in the tv series where they had old school cockpit controls and flew vf-1 naked most of the time and ran out of missiles quickly having to return to base for reload more often) Noobs probably can't kill targets fast enough to be able to make use of highest speeds so will get cheaper stuff which is just upgraded older valks. These guys are never seen taking cover, doing fancy dodgerolls, and they always get hit first before firing a shot. They are going to die anyway so thier only purpose is distract enemies long enough so aces can get into position in time to save the day while enemies are busy. Once in a while a character can kick ass in CF (the guy in macross 7 using full armor vf-11) but this is rare exception to sell toys of those characters. (much like how the gouf custom in MSG can be considered the heroic cannon fodder who breaks the CF curse of dying easily)
  11. I like it a lot too but it was priced pretty high. hehe I bet this new bandai sells in big numbers because of the more affordable price. Even if it turns out worse in quality in any area. (not likely since they keep improving - even local yamato and arcadia fanboys have to admit it) Arcadia needs to start to tampo print more details imo. Why is that so hard to do?
  12. Love the konig. So it's a different color, but is there any changes since the last toy? And does anyone remember how its arms could have different weapons instead of the default missile launcher ones? (those are named grenade crushers I think?) What is the posibility that bandai does this variant in future?
  13. The transformation on the VF-1 himetal was better than the 1/60 yamato version 2. The shoulders were a much more simple way to get them out. Plus the FAST packs didn't have ugly connection that makes it one piece. That was not how it looked in the show. Look I love the VF-1 yamato version 2. But there were some things the himetal did better. Was the Yammie overall a better toy? yeah. But this is 1/100 so you can't really compare them because the smaller guy has to compromise on detail. I can see the appeal of bigger toys but smaller toys have advantages in that they are great for people who are space-conscious.
  14. Looks good in fighter mode but silly in battroid with those massive FAST packs dangling on the hip kibble. I know you can take them off and all but everytime I look at it in bot mode it makes me laugh because it just looks so half-assed. Clean VF-advance looks better. Instead of FAST packs why couldn't they add GBP armor or something cool? (like the Full Armor on vf-11?) Maybe for the next macross series when valks can wear giant version of Exgear that helps lift armor by itself to hold bigger objects ie robot in a powered suit.
  15. That's what worries me. Nobody bought the himetal the first time they were released. (accept me) I already have the 1/60 now so I shouldn't complain.
  16. F*ck yes. I love the hiMetal. So the new ones are resculpted are they? May have to sell my strike roy VF-1. They were bashed for being expensive for what you got, but you can't deny they were made of quality and their transformation was hassle free. Now that the 1/60 are overpriced under arcadia label these are starting to look more attractive to the average joe since they are almost like a scaled down 1/60 v2. But the good thing is they are not just limited to valks this time so you can make display more interesting. The thing I liked about Himetal is to me it is like banpresto valks but with good quality. It's not the details you buy small toys for: it's the fun of holding these in your hand and playing around with it and posing them is a lot easier since they are less likely to fall and break themselves when the wind blows. So does this mean that one day there is a possiblilty bandai may revive macros plus Himetal toys too? Yf-19 at 1/.100 would be cool. But this time make the gunpod attach to fighter mode ok? I hate when they don't figure out ways to do it) They go to all the trouble to give you two sets of wings on vf-1 but don't give us ways to attach gunpods to fighter mode which to me is far higher priority than making wings look clean by not having holes in them when you don't have missiles attached.
  17. added the sv-51 ivanov transfomation vid by jenius to the links in the first post. I haven't transformed my sv51 in a very long time. Good to see these vids to jog my memory. The sheer size of this mech is quite intimidating along with its clawed feet and pointy spikes. Very evil looking. The stand is often bashed for taking up space but for a fighter this size, it suits it.
  18. Looks like I missed it. Was hoping to get this off hlj and forggot to keep checking in here for news on this. Congrats to those who got the po in time. edit: ended up just caving and getting from ami ami. Hopefully these guys are reliable as this is my first time trying them.
  19. Macross Delta needs to be a post apoc scifi story about stranded destroid pilots who sing gritty war songs to boost the morale of female giant zentradi who fell in love with the humans and which they have kept as pets and sworn to defend against evil male zentradi pilots who have jammed the signals to force the NUNS to use destroids to search for the human survivors instead of flying in valkyries and this begins the introduction of transforming destroids that look like the chunky missile spamming robot seen in Genesis Climber Mospeada but which has been adapted for close combat encounters in dark caves where large numbers has only limited advantages for the clumsy giants who have bulky machines and poor vision.
  20. There is always the option to sell off the old for the newer and superior thing. Just saying.
  21. Will do. If you have a fave list of mecha shows coul you pm me that list? I haven't been keeping up with anime for ages. ...and oh yeah there is occult numerology everywhere and those aliens in the ancient aliens history channel imo are demons or fallen angels whho secretly reveal the technology of the past to select occult groups in history that will shape the world according to how satan wants.. I'm convinced the book of revelations is talking about supernatural beings who have powers to make us believe they are just beings from other planets so they can explai away the christian rapture to the public as alien abduction and that the remaining people are special and are the chosen people to evolve humanity by accepting the mark of the "beast". (beasts are usually empires represented by an animal local to the regions - eg Bear is symbol of russia, phoenix/eagle is US, lion/dragon is UK) In occult numerology number 11 is evil. In bible prophecy there will be ten kingdoms (the people trying to create a new world order will split the world into ten economic regions/bloc) and then later there will emerge an 11th kingdom (11th horn) which will be the antichrist or the system of the antichrist. (the being could be fallen angel unleashed by God to deceive the masses and pose as a hero who saves us all from a global crisis but actually is a fake who created the chaos behind the scenes just so he could get you to join the antichrist system in a time of vulnerability and gain authority over you and prove he can be a god and substitute for Jesus) In prophetic language this antichrist system is referred to as the beast with 7 heads, 10 horns. There are 7 continents (the 7 heads) http://www.whatarethe7continents.com/?PageSpeed=noscript there are going to be 10 regions: (10 horns/kings from Rev. 17:12) ^ at about 17mins 40s and at 23 minutes into the video you see the 10 regions numbered. This could change but I think this is the 10 horns. In prophetic language a horn is a king and the heads must be the kingdoms. The modern kings are the prime ministers or presidents of each nation. Incidentally I think the 7 mountains just refer to fortresses for the bad guys to hide when the crap hits the fan. The prophecy mentions "surrounded by 7 mountains", which imo could be secret underground military bases that they've paid for by the tax payers who they enslaved) Now here is where the occult numerology pops up and number 11 is special. The 11th horn/King is the beast/antichrist. This is why 911 was important to the occultist. It's in honor of Apollyon the Destroyer mention in Revelation 9 verse 11. The leader they worship and who will be freed from the Abyss/Bottomless pit when the time of judgement has come. To get him out of the damn pit, they first got to fulfill the prophecy because God is not a liar and this is the only way to free him. And if they want to meet him, they got to fulfill steps to get the right conditions for his removal, right? He is the leader of the rebellion against God and will try to fight what is coming. (God has to judge all the evil deeds of the bad guys at the end of the age and the bad guys will try to fight but lose so they will target God's saints to get revenge) A lot of science fiction being made today is usually celebration of "man's mastery over nature through his knowledge of science" and the god of the science is often depicted as Nimrod/Prometheus who gave mankind fire from heaven or to put it in other words it's the kowledge of the fallen angels which advanced man's civilisation more quickly. This could be interpreted to mean knowledge was stolen. Prometheus = the first liberal. Like Robin Hood he ""Steal from rich to give to the poor" without even asking if the person who is being robbed if it is ok with them to have the loot stolen and handed out freely. The freemasons view lucifer as a hero and Jesus Christ as the real bad guy because the Father in heaven was harsh in punishing man by kicking out of the garden of eden. Macross being a science fiction show is going to have symbols everywhere. Hopefully this delta symbol means they put in some gritty special forces characters and not a wussy kid who whines about stuff. I watched the chuck norris movies and think it is time for some older characters for once instead of pathetic characters which really are put there to make fun of the otaku who are unsure of themselves and shy and depressed because their parents are crappy and beat them as little kids. Yes it may be made in japan, I get that. But even in SDF Macross you had guys like Roy who were popular characters. Why can't they give us a Dyson or Roy type personality as a heroic pilot for once instead of depressed kids who fail? You guys watch transformers G1 right? You hated it when optimus prime (the confident leader who could make decisions and didn't second guess himself all the time) died and in his place we got rodimus prime who was reckless and dumb (who always second guesses himself) and it made people angry because people can't relate to that and it is a form of pandering. (making a character that is their own age in hopes of getting the emo kids, even though most people watch sci fi to escape from that) That's what I think of when I watch animes where the authors of the work are deliberately putting in pathetic main characters to make fun of their own audience. It's tiring. Some older people who have grown a bit of pubic hair would be nice once in a while is all I'm saying please. I will watch it and buy the dvds if it is grounded in some reality. I've rewatched SDFM about 3 times but only rewatched Macross 7 about 1 time. You want a show that is good and can be enjoyed a long time not something that just cashes in on a fad. I like mechas, transforming planes that kill stuff, and the good music. But I fear they will give us another macross 7 again. And characters will be so popular they are invincible and will never die just like Basara because audiences want their fave character to be unkillable like in those kiddy gundam Wing shows. lol
  22. Yes please give us Variable Glaug. More bad guy or interesting looking designs that are not just human aircraft please. Maybe Bandai or Arcadia could even redo the QRau again but this time way better posability for its legs and less floppy limb syndrome? Green QRau, then do the Red Qrau from DYRL. And tampo print the markings on the green Qrau please. VF-1 should be held off until after the new tv series toys imo. Yamato did a good enough job and I doubt many people would rebuy an entire line again of vf-1.
  23. Sales = quality. Gotcha. I happen to agree with what you are saying about sales being based on idols and that's what made it popular. But there is an assumption that you can't have Idols and young people as well as the older people. As the young character ages a bit he mature and becomes better pilot, and the audience sees changes and cares about what happens to them. (ie whether they die, get dumped, lose battles, meet new people and have split loyalty, etc. You watch soaps right? You relate to the characters because of the characters being realistic or based on realism. That's what I think is better. You can still make money this way. It's just that people are used to seeing characters that serve no purpose. Once you give the masses quality they will get used to it. They won't just watch it for one or two things but for several reasons. When I watch macross 7 I should have to like it only because I like rock music. I should expect quality animation, mecha duels, and stories that have some message and not just super robot show 30 min monster of the week action. Sorry but if you like Macross Plus you should not be caring so much what a business thinks all the time. I much prefer stuff like armored trooper votoms, SDFM, UC Gundam which can appeal to more than one age than stuff aimed at kids only. I want to see something where if it is good enough I will buy dvd/blu ray. I didn't like too much focus on one thing. Balance is important. Look at the videogame industry as an example. It used to be just for action movie types who like to see stereotypical heroes and the games have stories that really only serve the purpose of giving you an excuse to fight evil bad guys and usually involves a girldfriend getting kidapped and the hero goes to rescue the girl. Then it grew up and matured a bit and had deep characters in the games and the story became a attractive reason to want to play a game. (not just action or the gameplay or deep mechanics) Now we have games where they are a big part of pop culture and mainstream and sell to many different people and appeal to wide audience of people due to having developed characters you care about, high quality visuals, and the sheer volume of the game has increased. (dozens of hours can be spent in GTA 5 roaming the city because of how massive it is. Much like the fan fiction for comic books, games have massive communities that make mods and lore for the universes of these games) Stories and characters in games like Fallout New Vegas, Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us are good enough to give you a reason to play them now. You can play a game like Metal Gear Solid and enjoy the game for its story despite not caring for the action. It's the same thing for tv series: aim mature and kids who are mature will want to see it if it is quality. But you don't have to remove the stuff that made the immature people like previous stuff. (an action game with juvenile humor can still have this by putting in juvenile people in it) Don't you get sick of the same thing over and over again? Even 12 year old girls grow up you know...
