What if they made it diecast like the swing bar thing?

Excellent can't wait to see some detailed pics of these little gimmicks. Probably means "CF for Nora to shoot down" given she is pretty much the milia of Mac 0.

Well the stealth kinda appeared in the tv series as that really dark blue valk didn't it? (assuming the stealth means black paintscheme) My main attraction to low vis is realism. The pilot figure is what makes the low vis kinda cool. It makes you think "this thing exists in the real world." I wonder if the little gunk they sprayed on the thing will be improved this time so it doesn't rub off on your fingers? If this becomes a new 1A I won't be as excited since it is just a way for people who wanted one to now get it. But if it is 1J or 1S it would complement the existing 1A nicely.

Sousei no Aquarion.

I just saw the last eps. It did feel a bit rushed but it did at least wrap everything up in time. All the story that had to be told was told and all the little twists and surprises came just in time for them to shock. The stuff about the feathers on the arm makes sense now. But for me, the main reason to watch the show was my fascination at how many different combinations the robot can form into. The gerwalk mode and the walking tank mode especially. Crazy! And the mass produced version. It's too bad the dark angels have superhuman-like agility for them to be of any real use up close though. They are definately CF compared to the one-of-a-kind super hero mecha with all the fancy martial arts techniques and super moves. They are proabably akin to what the clone army are like compared to a jedi in star wars universe. (ie the favouring of guns and the over-reliance on technology alone, vs the use of deadly melee weapons and a sharp mind with a heightened sense of awareness and inhuman reaction speeds) -
I really hope this lives up to my fave, Mad Max 2 aka "Road Warrior". I loved that climatic scene with the truck and those feral bikers trying to claw thier way to the drivers seat to kill him while he is driving and defending himself at the same time. Talk about tense moments and then it ends with a huge head on collision. They have to really recreate that same level of tension from no.2 to get me interested. I didn't like no.3 all that much though. No.1 ain't really easy to watch on repeat viewings as an "action movie" though. Like with escape from new york which I just watched recently, it kind of moves sloooow. They also need to bring back that humor and violence from the past movies - I actually thought that no1 had the most funny lines. Ie "You're a blasphemer!" "What do you want!!?!?!" "Kundalini wants his hand back!" (after having it ripped clean off from his arm and stuck to the rope tied to the back of the car!)

Space Battleship Yamato (aka Starblazers)???
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to sktchrtst2002's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Sorry but this is an old series. It would be like scolding me for saying luke is really darth vader's son. Didn't think all the sci-fi nerds were that far behind in thier things to watch. Anyway I will remember to put spoiler alert next time for those who haven't seen or remebered it. But duude you should've all seen this by now? Cmon... Anyway from what I remember it was good to me as a kid, but like what happens when you haven't seen something in a long time, (ie macross eps with animefriend work on them ) you may have to lower you expectations a bit given when it was made. Some people just won't watch old stuff. -
Space Battleship Yamato (aka Starblazers)???
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to sktchrtst2002's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
As a kid I remember liking the whole dogfighting in space thing. I think the ship itself has an attitude to it. I like how it is part of history as well as mixed with new technology and the whole "desperation of the crew to make it in time" thing. Characters were also interesting. I liked the captain of the yamato more than Global in macross since we at least see he has a painful past and at the end it is really sad when he dies and all. So the drama of his death was really good too. The villain from the tv series who appears in the movie also has a dramatic death too. Not like macross's "roy suddenly dies from loss of blood" death, but more like a "I actually feel sad that he is gone now" moment, giving him a dramtic scene being a main character and all and treating it with some importance at least. I watched the first movie a while ago and thought it was cool. Even when earth finally has the advanced tech to kick some butt they are still hopeless and defenceless without the ole obsolete yamato to save the day. This sort of reminds me of what happens in macross II when the SDF1 (a piece of junk really, serving more as a statue of remembering the past than something threatening to aliens) rises from the ground to fight again. -
Roy 1s Reissue #5 Plus Fast Packs #3 In Feb
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Roy's Blues's topic in Toys
Yamato need your money. Eventually they will reissue if enough people pester about it when it is something that starts to become hard to find or desired by fans of that mech. I figure if your money goes to a second hand guy on ebay who has the thing you want, that is a loss for them. Isn't that how we got the VF1A CF? Money = votes. But you also got to complain when you see something that you woudn't buy. Otherwise you end up with the 1/100 vf0 and the effort is wasted. My only thing is: I don't want to wait for ages before new things come out. Yah the vf1 is cool, but there are only so many of the same thing that you will buy before you start to want some toys based on other mecha. It would be wise to cater to the new and old (who have most everything they want) collectors just to maintain interest. -
Hollywood already tried to depict the average straight white male with a traditional nuclear family as a potential pathetic pedophile and closet homo when they made "american beauty". I'm not surprised they want to make a live action kite movie. Really "what the fart were they thinking at the time?" was my first thought. Was thier some political message buried underneath it all? Some things just shouldn't be made not just for controversial reasons but the fear people are entertained by it. I can totally see if it were like a monster rape thing (urotsokidoji) as these are like demons and monsters in a fantasy setting (just like the old b horror and sci fi flicks where the innocent virgin is raped by the monster/vamp/slimey alien) but kite tries to be realistic. I get a bit of a sick feeling in my stomach that they might try to eroticise the rape scene rather than use it to show the evil of that corrupt character. It's not supposed to be something that I want made into a mainstream hollywood movie, if you know what I mean. It's hentai ffs. The world of hentai is wierd, hollywood is wierd, but the two worlds shouldn't mix. Imagine if something like Words worth was made into a live action movie and you have all kinds of bestiality/animal rape but done up in live action with hollywood fx. eww.. nrrrgh...

The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread

Looks good. Been following news on this ever since I first set eyes on it. Will the figure be poseable? Was this the series that Harmony gold stole from to make "Robotech: the movie"? (I have not seen the this before)- 1057 replies

Roy 1s Reissue #5 Plus Fast Packs #3 In Feb
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Roy's Blues's topic in Toys
This is why I was so happy back when I got my 3rd reissue roy. When I discovered that VF1S roy had sold out (which I had intended to get for myself) I was a bit depressed. It was a blessing in disguise though, because that meant I bought a low vis instead (much harder to find now) and later on realised the reissue was coming. Reissued saved the day for me, being new to the 1/48 and all. I do hope they find a way to make a VF1D though rather than just milking single seat for 10 years.. -
Maybe that is one of the reasons the hand is not fully extended? Because of the complaints about the loose wrist of the chicken hands making the gunpod wobbly? So instead of extending it out fully it is kept half within the sleeve to support the meaty gunpod? Remember how wobbly the vf1 wrist gets when holding the gunpod? They need to make that wrist tighter if possible. Oh btw are they still going to include the rotating seat gimmick somebody mentioned ages ago? That would be cool. Judging by the pics looks like the gunpod scrapes the ground in fighter mode or at least is very close to it. Maybe they should put a magnet inside the gunpod so it sits flush all the time?

Yeah I agree. That thing looks fragile. Whatever the material they used for the bandai 1/65 vf17s headlaser, I think something like that would be good material for this part. I liked how it was bendy but ALSO firm so that if you tried to bend it out of shape, it would bounce back into its proper form. The banprestos on the other hand have deformed headlaser from being too soft and now they look silly because they are bent in the wrong shape. You pretty much have to bend them back again to make them look straight. There has to be a middle ground where it is hard enough not to look deformed, but soft and flexible so that if you drop it, the piece doesn't snap.

Put some blutac on his palm maybe?

hehehe that is so funny. But I liked that monster being used as a horse. It reinforces the idea that supplies are short and reminds me of the post apoc world having to be a bit lawless and wild. The battroids were short on ammo so they had to fight with thier body. The zentradi themselves might not know how to repair stuff that is broken so thier only way is to steal stuff like a bandit and run off with the goodies or to fight for it. The way they animated the gun arms is so funny! The least they could have done was shown the (stolen?) spartan fighting with the baton. I really liked the hand-to-hand fight Britai had with hikaru vf. More close combat is always good. Especially if it gives a good excuse to show battle damaged stuff. (ie kamjin punching his fist in the chest of the valk in DYRL and wrecking the head turret)
-
Yeah it is an interesting show for the characters even if you are not that huge fan of the air boarding theme and flashiness of the mecha. The episode where you get to see what's inside is cool. I always felt that is what they needed more of in macross with the destroids so we could see stuff mechanically inside the robots. I love the battle damage in dyrl for example where the head gets crushed for example. It reinforces that idea they are machines and mechanical with many moving things going on inside them. Not just moving gracefully like the way humans move. (I always felt the fancy super hero poses in gundam seed destiny kinda break from realism for some reason even though it adds coolness and style to the show ) Too bad about not getting the file to work. Mine work fine. Maybe it is corrupted? What version of CMP are you using? I have just upgraded to a new one the other day. But I do remember getting it working before with no probs. My only prob was with ep4 and it was my fault. The only thing I have a problem with is .mkv files. I only use VLC player to play those dual audio ones now. All the other players I use seem to have problems getting sound to work in that instance.
-
Try downloading the torrent of it, then clicking the torrent file to seed that episode and see if it completes the file. Sometimes but not always I find that when I open a torrent file of an already-completed episode it reverts back to not being complete. This happened with ep4 that I thought I had finished downloading, but a tiny piece was missing at the end, after I checked it again. (I had probs opening it in core media player) After I downloaded the last bit I needed of that file, it was complete (again) and I could finally open the file successfully in CMP with no error message. LMK if this works.

Science and Technology MEGA THREAD
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Max Jenius's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4422539.stm Does anyone here get reminded of the optic stealth used on the fuchi koma in Gits manga? Ghost X 9 from macross plus + optic stealth from gits = lethal combination. -
I would say the grand cannon. But I also have to give credit to exedol for coming up with the idea of using minmay to culture shock them in the first place. They needed that moment of confusion to give the killing blow that would take out thier leader. Zentradi are supposed to be pretty dumb and ignorant about anything not to do with war, so I can totally believe that music and strange alien activity involving pressing lips together would hold thier attention long enough for it to work. At the least the people who had never heard of music in thier life would be very curious and have a lapse in concentration. Anyway without Exedol's knowledge of zentradi battle tactics the result might have been different. Max and milia probably helped a lot though. Those two must have ploughed through heaps of cannon fodder zentradi with thier suped-up valks. They should make a videogame similar to the star wars "rogue squadron" series of games on that one big battle alone.

Have Any Of You Experienced This?
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to kanedaestes's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well that vehicle inside optimus prime is similar to the wheeled ground robots with guns on them today. Maybe one day somebody will make a modular vehicle with alternate modes of attack. We haven't even got destroids, or proper powered suits to save a human's energy and to protect workers from harsh alien environments yet dammnit. The destroids of today are more like remote controlled cars with nobody inside them (like a ghost drone for the ground ) than the macross giant robots with feet. Where are our all terrain, all weather, powered armor which can be brought aboard a ship to fight in space or used as a construction robot or to fight close range aginast humanoid giants? (and requiring a pilot inside to fight them and control it with some intelligence and awareness of what is around him by himself) -
I agree. The chinese accent thing I like too. It helps bring the idea that there are many different cultures within the macross universe coming together to fight off the coming alien threat. Especially when pacifist Kaifun comes into the picture, his kung fu techniques should seem especially fancy to max and the others when they see him fight, like it is something they've never seen performed before. About the alien echo: Yeah I realise what you are reffering to now. The echo is more a "long distance phonecall" delay or a "dude shouting at the mountains and hearing his voice a half second later" thing, than a "multiple people speaking at the same time" thing like in macross plus. I got confused between the macross plus echo which isn't alien sounding or strange, to the "I'm now speaking alien language to my alien friend" effect where the tone of the sound alters and goes high pitched at times. Whenever I think of "alien" I think an alien should be "weird" so all those sound effects give off this impression. "OMG they are so strange, this must be what aliens sound like when talking"

Why Are Yamato Macross Toys Becoming So Expensive?
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to dafunguy's topic in Toys
Yeah the whole scale confusion comes from people getting mixed up between "size" of the toy vs scale. 1/60 means a toy is smaller than the SAME thing at 1/48 (VF0 and VF1 = apples and oranges, they are not the same) But the VF-0 is so much more massive than a VF-1 that it is still bigger in SIZE even after bringing it down to 1/60. That might be why it is slightly more expensive. But personally I don't care so much as long as we get comparable quality in terms of details to the 1/48. (certain things like the tiny pilot being less detailed than a 1/48 pilot can't be helped at 1/60, of course) If it is going to be more expensive and simpler transformation than the 1/48, at least add some gimmicks or something we haven't seen on 1/48. I do like that we get those armor things on the legs though. I will be getting at least one if the details are like 1/48 even though NORMALLY 1/60 means "less detail" for its scale. But due to SIZE, they should take advantage of the size to make it like the 1/48 in detail as opposed to making it closer in detail to the 1/60 VF-1 toys. Understand what I be saying, bro? This is why, given the size of the 1/60 QRau, overall they should have made more effort to give us some extra detail like removeable missiles. But it was a missed opportunity. But becuase people get used to the idea that "1/60 VF-1 toys being less detailed than bigger 1/48", we shouldn't have to expect more detail than what we get with 1/60 VF-1.(because of matching scales) Which imo is bad. The attitude should be: let's just put as much detail in the toy if the SIZE can support it to not piss off the fan. So a 1/60 Qrau having lots of detail while the 1/60 vf-1 having less detail (being a smaller mecha than Qrau) is fine by me. It's just that usually people associate the scale of the toy with detail. But not me. If size can support more detail than chuck as much detail into it as possible. I don't want a large toy which takes up space but with not much detail. I will buy a large toy and pay that shiping cost of the bigger box, on the condition that it has masterpiece level of quality in details. If a toy comes out that has as good a sculpt as a larger toy and somehow MORE detailed and still durable for its size, than I will prefer the smaller scale toy. I pretty much got into 1/48 more for thier detail as opposed to wanting a "big" toy. I normally like smaller stuff becuase it is practical for me. The one thing a model has over the toy is it doesn't have to transform, and can have those fine details because you don't touch it. So if the size has to be upped as a compromise to retain good detail and durability than so be it. The last thing you want is for finer features snapping off while trying to transform it because it was too fragile to touch. -
Games, saving up for new game hardware, (may need a wad of cash for ps3) transformer alternators, sometimes DVDs, and occasionally upgrading the pc to play... what else? latest games. I am not a toy collector normally but when I heard about the yamato 1/48 I got hooked. Wallet is angry. Sometimes I spend money to go out to the movies, but only occasionally now. I find that I end up spending more money on the food that you buy to eat, than the movie itself.

As a last resort: HLJ http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00040 somebody needs to tell them to change the description though: "This item is a set of optional parts for modifying or detailing robot and other science-fiction kits. It requires both cement and painting to complete or use." Should be changed to "after breaking the fragile parts you will require some glue to put it back together. May require level 2 skill to push missile into holes." jk www.valkyrie-exchange.com Does this mean you can't order anything anymore? and...I was just browsing Neova's store: Now that is an interesting rumour. Any more info about this?
