There is a pretty big chance of it actually happening, you know, so we'll hold you to that. You have to upload the video for proof if it comes true.

Well in my world the GBP acts as a destroid that fights on a futuristic but secret aircraft carrier with antigravity abilities that is hidden and floating in the clouds. (ie like in that vertically scrolling shoot em up "Raiden" when you are about to launch off it to get to the space level) The armor adds a bit better defense since there is so little space to manuever. I nthe future all sorts of holographic technology is used to help hide these floating aircraft carriers from the enemy so these color make it harder to see them. But who cares it looks cool! As for fast packs, yeah I agree. Maybe they are special valks that fight in battroid mode with the fast pack as a jetpack for extra boost, and they are designed for fighting on the moon or something.
-
Yeah that is what I had in mind. It would look kinda cool in battroid mode too. Also a GBP with that paintscheme to match would be perfect. From a distance it would even blend in with the SDF1.

Remote Transforming Robot

It reminds me a bit of macross zero, where you see the destroid with the wheels on it. Or the Octos. More variable destroids in macross would be cool. No reason why the grounded bots shouldn't be able to roll. -
MasterPiece Collection v1.1
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I like the vf1 fighter mode better than the legioss fighter, but the legioss looks cooler in battroid mode than a vf1. It would be silly to compare though since they were designedto fight aliens that are different to each other. Perhaps the smaller size mech has proven more effective against the insect-like aliens than a bigger one? Being more numerous and swarming like a bee I imagine the humans would have found themselves weak at close combat (think of the zerg from star craft when they fight you in swarms. Killing an indvidual one is easy since they are weak. But because they breed so quickly and there are so many of them, it would be like wasting your ammo trying to focus all your aim on one and to shoot each individual insect, because by that time it would allow other insects to rush you and surround you where they can then get close enough to hack you to bits) ....so the humans in that universe focus on manueverability and fighting close range. While the macross people fight giants and have other things in mind besides the aliens themselves: the aliens have mecha too, so they might need heavier weapons. Can you imagine a massive Qrau (bigger than vf1 but arguably more manueverable than it in space) vs a legious? I think the qrau would fly circles around it in space and be the perfect counter weapon against the inbit! I kind of consider it like a car with a bigger body but with a more muscular engine. See the science and technology thread about the story of how humans are making green pigs that glow in the dark. I would imagine an alien race Specialising in genetics) to have been even more advanced in genetic engineering for them to be able to at the least, change the colour of the hair of thier soldiers. As for giant size: we have all kinds of giant animals from the ancient past now extinct that would be probably be mythical to us today. Could the account of dragons, (definately read the stuff on page 3 about giant lizards in australia) just have been massive lizards? I'm amazed sometimes at the size some snakes can grow to. They are like monsters you would see from a frank frazetta painting. I think the 50 foot thing is extreme but it is a great excuse to have a giant robot in a robot show. (ie the idea of a giant robot is so impactical) -
I mentioned before in my previous post that if they were to attempt the alpha they would need to upscale. But for now a casual fan who is not willing to pay MPC prices has no alternative for PT. All they have is a LE collector range of Alpha. What they need is a cheaper (no diecast) "toy". (MPC stuff is more collector stuff) If they have to make the size bigger, so be it. But when or if they do, I will be interested to see how it holds up against the Alpha MPC. (as an actual cheap, playable PT toy, not a display thingy which you pose and leave alone like a model kit with emphasis on details) The more of these toys made, and the cheaper they are, the better and more chance of someone buying it, and not caring if it gets wrecked. (widely available and not limited) But because of the cheapness you are also more likley to buy a whole bunch. (like the gi joe or star wars action figure ppl who want to get all the characters)

We don't know if they can be played with. They might crumble in your hands like a cookie or like the 'prestos, have looseness in joints. (particularly shoulders for me)

So Who Actually Likes Macross?
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to yellowlightman's topic in Movies and TV Series
The good thing about macross II is the speed of the fight, the drones or bits they use alongside the fighter to boost firepower (why don't they have more of that in macross? I think it is cool) and the characters. It showed that un spacy is NOT invincible just because of singing which people would assume would last forever. So it brings back that sense of danger. Contrast this to macross 7 where music took entire control of the show and the military is powerless without basara and pop bands. In the intro when you see the fighter transform into the robot and fire with the gunpod, I especially like the timing for it. You know how in kung fu movies when they want to show a dramatic finish so they pause a little for the finishing move that take the enemy out in style? Well that's what I liked about that bit. There was a dramatic flare to the way the robots would move. Sure this was a clone of DYRL but it gave more of what I wanted. Macross 7 battles on the other hand felt a little flat apart from the stuff at the end wen max and milia get into their vf22S to kick ass. -
Yeah. Maybe have a clear plastic see through heat shield so we can see it in battroid mode.
-
Maybe the big box gets more attention. People will notice it more in the store?

Well I liked the banpresto for posability and being perfect transformation while retaining a non-chunky sculpt and having good posability. (small means no excess weight, and easy to put them in dramatic pose without the risk of falling and breaking.) I tend to favour valks that look nice and sleek. So these are kind of an upgrade from banprestos. (no missiles with those) That's my excuse. But I would like to hear reviews before making the purchase. As much as fans of the chunky munky like it for nostaglia, it has a limits in dramatic anime poses. eg. of skinny aproach: yf21 with skinny legs: Yeah it will be interesting if they attempt to do a line of 1/100 destroids, enemy valks and maybe stuff in mospeada but with banpresto style posability. I think they would have to upscale the mospeada stuff though if that were ever attempted. I always wanted to own a transformable toy of the legioss but am too scared by the MPC and the prices. (most of my money which could have gone to them has gone to 1/48 yammies) Ah that would be great. It would do a lot for getting more macross out there to new fans who were too afraid to import. As I see it, only the hardcore buy multiples while casual people struggle to get just one. So much I want to buy but can't due to the need to import and wait for the wallet to heal.

Central Anime's Yamato: Season 2
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
To be fair, in the other thread I only mentioned events in the first season and movie I (I forgot to add in spoiler alert). This is season 2 which I haven't spoiled. So nyer. -
They kinda look like the Elite from Halo.

I like the fact that because it has wheels on its feet it can kind of skate along the surface rather than step. This is what Eureka 7 toys should be like. -
So Who Actually Likes Macross?
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to yellowlightman's topic in Movies and TV Series
When you talk about hentai monster what they could have done is make the PD truly evil spirits. Presenting the demonic possession as something horrific. Mylene (ends up a pilot) gives birth to a demonic child possessed by protodevlin. (rosemary's baby ) The child grows up with superhuman strength and like a dragon ball z character goes out of control and wrecks mecha with his supernatural powers. Scientists are at odds to figure out why this child is so strong. This becomes the story of macross 7 experiments to uncover the mysteries of the PD and if the legends from ancient accounts are true. Now instead of vampires with strange masks, you have ghosts killing and possessing the crew of the ship and paranoia (like john carpenter's "the thing") between crew members. You have vf11s versus vf17s, vf19s going rogue and killing innocent people, that kind of thing. Put in lots of blood, gore and maybe even gruesome ways of dying like in DYRL. Perhaps have somebody being physically eaten by a monster and having thier body ripped apart because the demons are feeding off life energy and need to become cannibals like what you see in zombie flicks. (ie but make the victims scream in terror from the pain like in jurrassic park or jaws) If macross 7 had been a sci-fi horror show that would have worked so well with me. (given my love of aliens and how they used that robot to fight the queen) But it wasn't mysterious or serious enough for me to hold my interest and in a sense was too comercial. Sound weapons and sound waves could have been presented in a less cheesy way. (look at spiderman and venom. Venom is essentially a vampiric alien entity but even though he is just a comic character he is really frightening, yet despite being such a bad ass, it is sound waves that is his weakness. That is what I want the vampiric possessed soldier to behave like. I see the discovery of other dimensions as like opening the gate to hell. (they could portray the aliens in that dimension as being strange HP Lovecraft style creatures with no remorse or care for humans but 10 times more creepy than the ones in the show. If the Zentradi are "Satan's Dolls", soldiers who are slaves and programmed to just kill planets and rape other alien lifeforms by wiping them out of existence, then the protodevlin must be something even more scary than these guys. Especially when you see Exedol's reaction to the word protodevlin even though hes seen it all. The imagery of the protodevlin in macross 7 just didn't warrant exedol's reaction of being scared and comes off as unrealistic. They could have made the possession of soldiers so much more scary and frightening but they decided not to. It was too commercial, bright, happy, and unrealistic and music took away any sense of danger that was present from the previous tv series where humans were struggling for survival. At no point did you feel basara could be killed off because he was like a super hero in a super robot. -
See that is why I didn't buy the superposables. I like a toy that transforms. IF they do what they've done to the VF1 to the Alpha fighters/legioss I will definately by buying those. What they needed all along were toys that were not limited edition stuff that you leave in the box and never touch aimed at collectors, but cheap stuff that people can afford and the casual fans could buy to play around with but were PT. It will be interesting to see how durable they are though. This is toynami after all.
-
Looks like the banprestos (which no one but me likes) have been knocked off the list as the only PT small scale toys and now have competition. Will they counter this and make a higher grade version? I like small collectible stuff. Hopefully these don't break in half when you touch them though. Does this mean we might see some 1/100 enemy mecha and destroids from toynami? One of the advantages of smaller stuff is the fun you can have making a scene, like the re-enactment of a battle or having many things at once. (this is why I love the micromachines cars) You can hold them easily too. Sure the banpresto looks like crap up close because of no detail, but from a distance they look good when they are in group in various dynamic poses. If these turn out any good I will buy a few to go with the VB6. Wouldn't mind seeing toynami make a PT Legioss and Tread in a similar sized scale. Geez the vf1 market must be flooded like hell by now.

So Who Actually Likes Macross?
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to yellowlightman's topic in Movies and TV Series
I like it all since it fleshes out the story more. (especially the stuff about PC in macross 7 and how they set up a key system as if expecting the future generation of humans to finally make peace with aliens in the episode where Exedol explores the ruins) There are different characters and they all have different ideas, goals and dreams about how they should live in the world they live in. Some are idealistic with thier head in the clouds. (basara) Others are just ordinary guys faced with difficult situations. (Hikaru) And then you got the reckless hot heads who try to break boundaries and push the limits to stay competitive without worrying about risk or endangering others. (Dyson) The original tv series for me will always be special though. The main things going for it: -love triangle (people want to know what happens next?) -adventure (epic journey through space with many unknowns) -use of artillary mecha alongside valks (destroids and the monster) -mystery (who are the zentradi and why are they like us?) -good variety of characters who are realistic. (no flashiness, characters are grounded in reality) -many different battlefields and situations (space combat, ground combat, inside ship combat, destroid combat from long distance, upclose combat with giants, dogfights and transformations in mid combat on the hull of a ship, ship-to-ship combat, mecha to ship combat. All these situations show the versatility of the variable design of the vf1) Overall Space War I is where the real meat of all the fighting takes place so to me it sets up some exciting scenes. Max and milia's rivalry for example. The use of the sdf1 to smash holes into ships and blow them up from within etc. All of the major events take place here. Constrast this to macross 7, at no point did I feel any danger because of all the repetition and focus on music. I mentioned in another thread that the threat of gubaba getting stepped on by stampeding humans was the only real sense of danger in the show. All since it was handled in a way that is hard to believe. eg Mylene not having any training but flying around in a custom valk all by herself with no risk of getting killed. They didn't handle the transition of her maturing from kid to adult very well. In SDF:macross, people like Kakizaki were always screwing up and this made it dangerous because everyone's lives genuinely felt at risk due to the serious tone of the show. It was a show about survival.) As for macross Zero I feel it was rushed and needed to be made into a tv series and include more about roy's past than what was revealed in the ova. For such an important character fans might want to get to know him better, since he died so suddenly in the series. (all we got was a measly little flashback of roy in a propeller plane in SDF:Macross.) They needed to boost his image beyond what we already knew about him in the original. But the ova seemed to run out of time which was a real shame. -
Who Else Has Contempt For Harmony Gold?
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to me3's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well to stay on topic: I don't agree with thier censorship and how you can't mention other products (like the valks made by other companies) but I can understand why they do it. If I were them I would try to rob macross purists of any access to macross so they were forced to buy robotech. Makes business sense. But hopefully this attitude will change. What I wanted to see is the two worlds co-exist so that fans of the robotech universe can get what they want while fans of macross can get what they want easily as well rather than have it wither away and die and nobody gets anything. As a fan of macross I'm so glad macross plus went under thier radar. Macross should not be tied to the robotech universe. They should be seperated or people will be confused and miss out on the story. (most people I know who were familiar with robotech in the 80s, just assume the SDF:macross is = "the macross saga" from robotech. I think this needs to change to clarify the story for them otherwise any mention of protoculture and thier role will not make sense) To robotech people Protoculture = the mysterious power that acts as an nergy source for robotechnology. Like a battery for the mecha. To macross purist Protoculture = the ancient first culture which was an advanced civilisation that was wiped out by accidents from the civilisation's own genetic experiments and discovery of other dimensions. Being an old show it is already hard to get people to be macross fans. But when you got extra obstacles like hard-to-access toys, no future series, (and the radical change from the original to macross 7) and dying interest, (the tv series animation hasn't aged well) it can only make it worse. It's a shame really. -
The new pics look good. So any word on the pitot tube and what material it is?
-
Yes. But it would be cool if like some guy bought one, hated it, and sold it to me for a bargain price so I could buy more than I had initially expected to get.
-
Nope. we got off topic that's all. This is macrossworld. It happens!
-
I got really scared in that episode when the crowd were running around panicking in one of the resort ships and gubaba was like jumping around trying to get away almost about to get stepped on. Imagine if somebody crushed him? Strangely enough, I think that was the scariest thing to happen in the whole tv series. Not the dinosaur that wrestled the battriod or any of the recycled dogfights, or the PD themselves but the fear that gubaba might get killed in a stampede.
-
I'm saying that there is no problem. Not for the reasons that people think. Ie mother earth can't sustain us, food is scarce, not enough space etc. I think it was merely presented as one for politcal reasons and to discourage minorities from breeding. (may have been seen as a threat in future) http://www.fathersforlife.org/health/popcontrol.htm http://www.theinterim.com/2002/april/02nobelwinner.html ahem maybe the kids = accidents. (couple weren't married before they did it)The couple may have had to marry for fear of ridicule from the parents of thier partner so that explains the initial reason to marry. But divorce = escape from the responsbility/burden of being with the same person forever. That is why people question "why get married in the first place?" It's like you can have your cake and eat it. And its the change in attitude that explains the rise. But that change itself may have been brought about by encouragement to not have a big family. Focus on yourself, your career or whatever, and not honour old traditions, promises like the oldschool. If nobody, including the parents of the kid growing up from the divorced family and raised by a single parent cuz dad got caught bonking his mistress, is honoring the vow to stay 'faithful' to a single person, why do people do it? These days its almost presented as normal or even preferable that people do not commit rather than stay in an unhappy marriage for traditional reasons. (eg making a promise to that person for life. The idea sounds romantic but reality sets in and people pack when they wake up to reality ) The disturbing thing is: When something becomes normal because the mass of people do it, it suddenly becomes ok for everyone to follow, like it was a feedback loop - seeing people do it causes justification for doing it. The reason I think it is a conspiracy has to do with this long term goal (see above links) to sterilise the unwanted or kill off the weak and sick and elderly (promoting euthanasia in mass media) more than genuine worry for thier welfare or respect for life. (that's just PR BS) It might seem like it on the outside that is it a caring reason for why they want to introduce the policy, (save the planet from man whose overpopulation will kill mother earth, give women more rights and choice, make kids more informed etc) but it is more to do with getting rid of an obstacle. ie population control, eugenics, limiting certain races birthrate for security reasons etc - obviously the government wants to control every aspect of how you live and promotes certain liefstyles as 'good' or 'bad' according to the political agenda. I don't believe it is a single country or group of countries targeted for pop control, but more of an international thing with the involvement of the UN and globally promoted but dressed up in as positive wrapping as possible. So I think the left are suspect for constantly blowing the overpopulation 'problem' out of proportion and geniunely fear-mongering to get people behind thier cause. Rather than solve the marriage problem or wanting to make people happy, there is like this hidden agenda.
-
Well I think the reason divorce is high is that it's part of the conspiracy to depopulate the earth. The extreme left think the world is too overpopulated to "sustain" humans so they try to attack the traditional conservative judeo christian values (a marriage = a mother to nurse the kid, a father to work and discipline the child, and the kids are raised normally) by saying marriage and 2.5 kids with a house with picket fences is a myth, to make the choice of doing that unattractive and uncool to the masses. You're not cool after you get married and commit to a single person and start to have kids. "Think of all the fun and partying you are missing out on by not being single!" "The myth of the nuclear family". This way people have less kids, people who shouldn't be breeding don't breed. People who get abortions help depopulate the world, (under the guise of giving women choice and empowering them) and persuading the traditional old unnattractive grannies and mothers into acting young again (shows like oprah with thier fake audience members bribed and paid to cheer) and encouraging the older generation to start having affairs so that they will shed thier old beliefs; that commiting yourself to a single person and being happily married for long time, is a stupid thing. Also encouraging euthanasia: if you want to kill yourself it is your right - making you feel guilty for taking up precious resources and being a "burden to society" for wanting to live. And of course educating young children about sex so they don't accidentally get pregnant and destroy chances of having a career because of being tied down to raising a child early due to the costs of one. (the real effect is "don't have kids at all if possible, masturbate if you must, or have casual protected sex with someone without any emotional attachment to them") Personally I think if you live a big city you are more influenced by that thinking since the temptations are stronger, and people who are closeknit together tend to spread trends much quicker than those who are spread apart great distances. But if you are like living in a rural area you are going to stick to old tradition of earlier generations. But I think it is all part of the hired think tank's move slowly and gradually change people's attitudes through images that make certain other lifestyle choices more attractive than others. I think it is linked to left (who don't know they are working for the elite rightwing ) making us fear what will happen if we overpopulate the earth and pollute it with our bodies. "The more people in the world, the less resources for us." is the belief. Sustainability people! If they could start by just seperating the mother and the father from the child and creating as much disunity in the family unit by getting the government invlved in raising the children, they can help reduce the birthrate enough so as to heal mother earth. (but in reality feed the pockets of the rich which they are not told)
