I have seen a few of the exo force lego while searching toy stores for alternators and I was a little tempted to get one.

Finally..........20 years just to find out what happened when rick killed all those innocent humans on earth just to get at the invid. When the invid mention shadow they must be reffering to the dark side of humans. So I bet Rick hunter = robotech equivalent of Anakin Skywalker. Just my guess.

Hooray. Now I can go to sleep after waiting all night for graham to get these scans up. Would have loved to see underneath where the gunpod sits. I wonder where they'll put magnets on this and how it all clicks together? One thing I can't stand about the 1/72 is how the chest isn't firmly locked into place. Can you imagine someone picking it up by the top half and the reaction on thier face as the whole robot just flops out of thier grip?

Ah I thought he was funny in the second conan movie. When he goes to sleep it looks like he is meditating. Poor guy. I like the narration at the start of the first conan movie that he does. Hope he is in a better place now.

The best way is to vote with your wallet. If enough people don't buy it, it will send a message that the changes made were not popular with the tf fans. (I stamped my foot down with toynami mp alphas and didn't get any for eg) But I have faith they will just buy it anyway and it is just nitpicking like the people who complained that the GBP armor on the 1/48 doesn't match the lineart because of the super sized chest but then ended up buying it. Only time will tell. There is always the classic starscream. Are the changes necessary? Probably not. But my guess is people who are now in thier adult life (with more disposable income) would prefer a more gritty interpretation of the character and a vehicle mode that could pass as a disguised robot. (appealing to fan who are typically buying the alternators because of the quality) To me, posability in robot mode is important too. I don't know if the hip thingies will increase the poses or make it worse but from what has been shown in pics so far, he looks good in a floating stance on the stand. I bet fans will grow to apreciate it. Because the characters were based on the toys and not the other way around (toys made out of characters) I think it is ok to bend the rules a bit. I know it is cynical of me to say this to all fans of the characters and comics, but essentially I view TF as a series that was designed to sell toys, (and the toys kept the series alive) which is why they killed prime and a number of other g1 robots in the movie to begin with to make more toys. I don't see it as a case of: the strength of the story alone being enough to keep it alive by itself. (it was more like our appreciation for the character grew as time went on.) I mean when you look at SS face, they even made him look more menacing than in the cartoon by having his head more deepset inside the helmet. It just adds a little dramatic flair that wasn't in the toon. It's small stuff like that I like. I know I will probably be buying this more because it is a cool toy than due to nostalgia alone. It reminds me of the people who complained about changes in the new BSG series. If the changes are good, I welcome them.

The good thing is it is to scale with 1/60 vf1 and qrau, and soon to be yf19. So all those who still own the 1/60 can display them next to the vf0.

I can forgive it if the changes worked (like with the x-men movie how the uniforms looked different from the comic or the changes we saw with the original batman movie) but if they don't.....then the fans are going to be pissed if it can't live up to all the hype. If they made transformers into a completely cg movie like final fantasy I wouldn't mind. (pretty much it's the cg and VFX that are worth the price - fanboys got that in spades) I've said it before but what they should have done is set TF right in the 80s as if we were looking at an event in the past. It happened a long time ago and the war is over now kind of thing. This way all the vehicles can look like the cartoon.

That's because most of them fight from the ground so they need the armor. Starscream needs to be light. Autobots = strong on the ground but weak in the air. Until Jetfire that is. That's what the ad for the toy said anyway. I'm just playing with ya.. I like that they can do that. Sort of like the shoulders for the bandai vf17 toy. (I always pose them in an angled way to make it look threatening.) I get that same feeling with this when they put them angled like that, like they are a pair of demon wings or something.

Starscream doesn't really need beefy legs anyway since he is a fighter and can just fly places. If they can somehow transform those things at the back of the leg so they don't stick out, I would be happy with the first version. There has got to be a way they can do it to please both groups. I do like that the knees have a much more rounded refined look to them on the second though. Your post was modded for a reason---don't quote huge images. The thread is currently image heavy as it is. Also, bad idea to un-mod a mod's mod. We've already had a complaint about your quoted image (some people REALLY hate them and PM the mods), I modded it the first time because of that.

Ah, The debate still rages on about where to put the stuff. Maybe we should have a poll? I personally don't like toys where the robot mode doesn't look humanoid enough to be practical. It's probably the reason why the animators simplified the robots in the first place (disapearing parts) so the character was more recognisable. In the second version of SS, he at least looks better to me at the sacrifice of trying to look like his toon.(which cheats) The poll question should be: Is the SS character accuracy more important than the overall toy's appeal? (yes or no as options) Part of the reason I like the new mirage alternator is because he looks neat and tidy. For me I'm ok if the transformation is a little different if it means it's an improvment in some way. As for colour: I bet if hasbro do end up releasing it in the US, (will they?) they will put the toyish color back into it and ditch the realistic look. Maybe they will even try to milk two versions: one with low vis color and yf19 hips, and one with a crown and blocky g1 legs? Now a question: Do you think Takara will try to do a trailer for MP Ultra Magnus? I figure if they are going to release the trailer for prime than UM should be done too, and have that transform onto his body as armor like in the movie? This would boost appeal for white inner robot ultra magnus and they could rerelease him as demand for ultra magnus increases with the release of his trailer. (sort of like how yamato re-released the hikaru 1j for the people who were going to get GBP)

It's all up to the porn industry to get people to become early adopters. jk

At the rate they are going, they are doing both of those things simultaneously: Continuing to milk 1 seaters which we haven't seen yet releasing macross zero stuff releasing yf19 second releases of the gbp (lots of different scheme they can put on them beyond the usual) arrrrrrggh.. If they get around to two seaters it will be competing for attention against these other things and the other projects. (not to mention if they have any surprise stuff like what they did with the koenig. Variable glaug or vf4 perhaps?) And with the size of yamato boxes I wouldn't be surprised if the japanese macross collector is actually using them as a house to live in and store all his valks.

At least the skinny girl arms and chicken fingers will suit it. I wonder if the valks at the airshow were actually used to help fight against the zentradi on the ground at one point? (offscreen from the cameras in the tv series) I think it would be funny.

That's what I'm thinking. He uses up all the missiles to fight in space, ejects and lands on the planet in a remote area where he is hard to find if there is any pursuer and he is low on ammo. Perhaps has a resistance group with a secret base located in that remote area (camoflaged or with help of hologrpahic technology to confuse the enemy, similar to the holo DYRL images of minmay or the ones in macross plus) who can then supply him with camo gbp armor on that planet. Sorta like what ObiWan dad did in episode 2 of the PT of star wars where he leaves the booster in space to follow bobafett's dad to his hideout. heh All kinds of situations could be possible. Maybe there is even a few camo destroids on the ground to help shoot down the pursuer to provide cover for the fleeing valk? There would be all kinds of different camo valks like snow ones, desert ones etc like what they do in gundam and this is actually my reasoning for a stealth valk: the black color is mainly for night time use just for making it a little harder to spot visually when it is low to the ground or using cover in a mountainous area or something. Not actually invisible to radar or anything. But also gets the bonus that in space where there is a lot of clutter and space debris, to make it hard for someone using a radar to find him, and not much light, ....his black paintscheme might give him a slight edge in that environment too.) And then is the idea that certain modes might be in use more than others on a mission. In space the zentradi have thier powered armor, and upclose I can imagine the extra protection of battoid mode for close encounters being handy over fighter for certain anti giant killing missions. (say they have to sneak inside a ship, move around in battroid, and then only use the fighter for a quick retreat?) A giant's ship is massive. But what does it look like on the inside? Perhaps the mission might involve the pilot needing a wierd paintscheme to blend in with that giant's environment and use cover and running around in robot mode more than just flying around?

Given that it is a tv valk it would be strange if they didn't. Now I wonder if there is a chance for the alaska base valks? We are starting to see valks that have only really appeared in 1 ep now. Things I would like to see: Greyish TV VF1S skull leader with tv fast packs and arm armor thingies. (a special edition where you get two pilots 1 when roy was piloting, and then one with hikaru towards the end of the war when the FP were being used) Of course this would not include any strike cannon. So it should be slightly cheaper than if you were to buy a dyrl roy + fast pack as seperate items. A non fast pack version with just roy in his tv flightsuit could be done (like with the stealth valk) for those not interested in FP. This would encourage completists to finally have a DYRL roy and TV roy. The tv VF1S roy would have a different tone to it (not white) and the tv arms. (not the dyrl arms like the recent vf1 brown cannon fodder release) And then when they are busy milking that, they can give us the green Qrau. It's time the tv series got some love.

Wow looks nice. Hopefully they will fix the swivel joints in it this time. As a fan of LV, the brownie CF, and the grey vf11 colours, (more than the white dyrl valks) I know I will end up caving in to get this. You always need a normal painted valk (or a few) to stand near a roy/shin/hikaru to make a nice display. (as opposed to buying multiples of the same character all standing in the same spot which imo is boring)

Just call that one a custom battle damaged valk. (the fighter got a bit close to the sdf1 main gun while firing but otherwise survived)

Maybe if they did it that way, it would mean we wouldn't get to see ep41 earlier? (as we would have to wait for 42 to finish before 41 release) Meh, I would rather see 41 early than wait for 2 eps to be released together if it meant later overall release for the 2 eps. Oh well if we could wait for yamato's yf19 to be made we can wait for the rest of e7.

I got other stuff to watch though like LOGH. So I can treat each ep like a monthly comic book. No big deal for me.

Does anyone here play Metroid Prime Hunters? (post or PM me your friend codes) I just got it and the "touch screen used like a mouse pad" control scheme is just perfect. (almost as good as keyboard + mouse would be on pc, except less stable) I use the thumbstrap stylus so I have my hand gripping the other side of the ds and it works very intuitively. I have the sensitivity set to max so I can spin 180 easily but the cross hair is jittery due to that.
