  1. Nice pic. I recommend getting a 1J now with GBP armor. (GBP = almost like buying a whole valk) If you like TV series valks maybe get a super max or super milia set. (fast packs are painted in bright anime colors setting them apart)
  2. hehe, tinted windows would solve that. And in the terminator movies: wasn't the logical conclusion of the robots and AI, to just replace us? They had assasins whose robotic body looked just like us to blend in, and BANG! they would surprise attack our cities and villages by sneaking past our defense in disguised form. Which is why the dogs are the only things able to sense a fake human (disguised robot assasin with organic material on top) due to thier sense of smell. Wolverine actually does this a lot in the x-men comics whenever encountering a shapeshifter trying to pass as another person. From a distance the diguise might still be useful though, and so they keep it. But maybe the transformers move about so that you never really get a good opportunity to see them close. (like superman who really can just appear out of nowhere to save the day, and then fly away and go about his business) At least the ninja turtles had the excuse that they were these ninjas who can hide in the shadow and that by living in a sewer nobody would really see one of the mutants in person. With the TF, all you got is thier alt mode. Edit: I like to think of it this way: the robots assuming that aliens must be machine-like in nature is no different to us assuming that aliens must be like us or similar to the way we do things with only a few minor differences. ie the various intelligent alien races in star trek which usually have mainly humanoid features we can identify with for example, and not something like the alien in the movie Contact or Final Fantasy:TSW which is more like a ghost or something.
  3. Yeah but I reason that it became convenient to stay into cars (for practical reasons) once they realised the humans were not cars but flesh and bone organisms. At first it was a disguise (just like the vf1 being kept a secret by the military about being transformable into a giant robot as long as possible) but then as time went on, alternate modes aided them in certain tasks. Take devastor for example he can actually be useful as a set of construction robots when used in vehicle mode. By transforming into those things you can actually do useful task as well as kick ass in robot mode equiped with standard weapons for fighting and stuff. Humans use and built construction vehicles because they are useful to us, so the question is: "why not steal our designs or way of doing things for convenience?" ...and at the same time blend in with us wherever possible. Maybe there are other reasons it would be convenient: these are aliens and like super heroes it might be convenient to have a secret identity to avoid interference from us where both aliens sides are engaged in a secret war that the public isn't supposed to be aware of. (we are disregarded as we are not really taken seriously as a threat) Seeing a transformer would be as rare as say a person getting a good photograph of spiderman or superman or someone witnessing a car crash. Sure they might appear in front of us occassionally but for the most part we go about our business and they are not the focus of our attention because they don't try to attract attention. The disguise = the bonus you get by choosing to copy us. The alt mode provides practicality. (by copying the design of say a plane, you can take advantage of being able to fly for example)
  4. Well, if they do the removable gear and can get it looking as good as that, then yeah I would still buy it either way. It can't be much worse than having to put the sidecovers on the vf1 to make it look more aesthetically pleasing or swapping hands/removing intake covers. I'm going to just assume that space fighters might even be better off anyway without gears since they can land in gerwalk or can alternatively get launched off the robot arm DYRL-style.. Half the time they are seen landing in gerwalk mode anyway. just be sure they pay attention to the insides too: http://park1.wakwak.com/~jasshy/CG/21/yf21_fi045.jpg ..like they did with vf0 feet. (don't neglect the back)
  5. I wonder if they could just release a non-canon scheme like they did with vf1? (credit card and stealth) Just call it stealth vf22 hehe Maybe have a completely unique sticker sheet like LV 1, with low visible kite symbol and marking? And instead of yellow trimming, have like grey or something?
  6. That's why if they did SS in alternator jets line, people could demand vehicle mode accuracy and details. The way I like to see it is this: the details in masterpiece for vehicle mode are more like a bonus or the icing on the cake. (whereas with alternators the vehicle mode has to pass as a model kit of the actual thing as this is what an adult collector is buying it for: the accuracy and realism that alternators give which are based on the real vehicle) Actually what I would like to see is alternators as a line with varying vehicles. They should not have a rule where the alternators HAVE to be of a certain size or price. Instead, just release all kinds of vehicles with realistic look and details, at varying prices like any other line. This way they could get away with a proper-sized alternator truck to be the optimus prime of that line rather than be forced to make him the same size of the others.
  7. Well that is a relief to me. I didn't play the game so I wasn't aware of what valks were in them. Oh well there goes the chance to see Ray's elite vf11 pink pecker squad. So loved that scheme.. (just joking! )
  8. Just looking at the lineart now: The cockpit canopy + interior, battroid head, and the hip armor or belly plates as some call em (22 uses different weapon there and looks to be able to shoot from the hip like the yf19) ...seem to be the main differences between 22 and 21. Lot less differences between them than the variants for the 19.
  9. If they click that link and bother to look at it, they will have seen what they are up against. Maybe put this in the "forward it to graham" thread..
  10. http://park1.wakwak.com/~jasshy/yf21.html That's what 1/72 yamato version should've looked like So pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease yamato: get the macross 7 license and give me the black one with head and cockpit modification that would take barely any effort. Lots of recolor in macross 7 for vf22: max+milia, and gamlin. Just add all the details we usually get from upscaled toys.
  11. It would be cool if one was made and would love to admire them from a distance. But I don't think I'd buy it. I'm more a fan of smaller scale stuff with as much detail packed in as much as the space will allow for. (but doesn't require you to build or take up lots of time)
  12. Actually that reminds me: where are our 1/72 alternator jets?!
  13. The alternators look pretty fragile to me in pics but they hold up pretty well AND they are aimed at adults. You won't see many complaints about busted pieces even from people who actually play around with them. I don't think this will be that fragile. Not in a "OMG I'm afraid to touch it, it's so delicate!" kind of way at least. The thing I worry about in toys is how posable they are. I can't stand toys that have floppy limbs or limited posability that when you try to hold them, they become sort of a hassle to handle because you can't touch them in a certain area or they will fall apart. (see the 1/72 yf19 as an example. The robot mode upper half isn't even locked onto anything. It's much more of a display than a toy in that sense) And the yf21, it's gerwalk mode is just not safe to even bother posing as the slightest shake will send it toppling over. I also hope that joints are ultra tight so that they can suport the weight of the limbs. Unlike others, I don't just pose my toys/figures in a "standing up straight" stance. I like to have them in an action pose like a freeze frame from an anime or something if possible as a way to express some of the character's motion or energy. (example: putting prime in a mid-"jumping in the air" pose suspended in the air on a stand like in the movie where he somersaults while blowing away the targets )
  14. I'm a Makurosu fan 4eva!11 Keep bringing out the toys yamato. I'd much rather a flood of stuff I can't afford than a drought with nothing to look forward to and a "maybe it will come out if you buy this" promise that can't be kept. After many years we get our proper yf19 at least. Can't say the same about toynami beta fighter - it doesn't look like RT fans will have fully transforming toy. If you are a true macross fan and stop buying toys just as the yf19 is coming out, there is seriously something wrong with you. It's the golden age of macross toys, and I think we have too much to complain about. If I didn't spend this money on macross, I probably would have spent it on something else like gundam or into games and other hobbies anyway.
  15. For the sake of RT fans I just hope they manage to make some toys if this sells well: -plastic equivalent to the masterpiece alpha (with beta link up, learn from all the mistakes from the earlier alphas. Just like how we got diecast binaltech transformers and plastic alts that's what I want to see for RT. I hate floppy limbs) -cyclones (give us anything new that appears in this show. Are they going to be using new designs?) I love mospeada, so I actually hope this doesn't suck. Because if it really does suck it won't just be macross purists that will be battying, but the rt fans who waited 20 over years to find out what happened to all the character from Macross Saga. I'm going to watch just to get a complete ending to the story. If this turns out to be another sentinels......
  16. Looks very nice. Eventually I bet people end up getting both anyway. Resistance is futile.
  17. Those were thier commands true but they are people like us. That's why I like macross: the aliens are not all hostile they have a human side too. If they are 90% like us humans (remember they share a lot in common with us in DNA as shown in the tv series) it might be worth a try to reason with them. You see thier innocence best when they show the corpse of a dead soldier holding that minmay doll post rain of death. When you link the events of macross 7 (mylene's mixed blood being the key to opening secrets) to SDF macross, (changing the zentradi's purpose from war being the meaning of life to something more than that) you see that in the end the goal all along of the PC was to "reset" everything back to the way it was before they made themselves extinct through wars and the use of GE to artificially evolve things and play god. If the PC were alive thier message would be: don't follow in our footsteps if you want to avoid those mistakes. (earth was probably thier hope of restarting, and we are thier way of carrying on where they left off. But only if we learn to make peace with each other. Not trying to destroy everything like the zentradi) When given a chance, the aliens can be peaceful like us. (but if you do things that spoil those chances, burn bridges and generally make the situation worse, you are going to be fighting a battle you can't win.) I don't like to think of the culture shock as a weapon but a way to awaken thier lost humanity. Up until the end of SW I the aliens were just robots doing what they were programmed to do. The "logical" thing being to destroy those robots. But if you could de-program them and save them from thier own programming, not only will that be less risky to yourself, (never forget we had inferior numbers) but a much less destructive way of bringing peace, because we humans never were in a position of strength to begin with. It was only because misa lost her camera which recorded the evidence that we were no match against so many (remember when misa dropped her recorder and was crying because she failed the mission to capture the footage?) that made the leaders act so confident. At any time the aliens could have just blown the SDF1 away at the click of thier fingers. (they only wanted the "lost technology" right?) We never had control to begin with. That's why misa's dad had to admit she was right all along. Had they known there were so many numbers, (misa lost the evidence to prove this, and they must have thought she was lying, with only global believing her story) they might not have acted so recklessly and endanger the whole planet. (suuuure, go make the 900 pound gorrilla angry, just don't come crying if that gorrilla pounds you into the dirt for sneaking an attack on them and does several times more damage to you then you could ever do to them) The zentradi != to the anti un where it is a small threat. We are talking a planet full of people at stake. Any crap decision means you put that planet full of people (pretty much the entire human race) in danger when you make the wrong move. It would have worked if the alien threat was smaller (like the aliens hadn't the capability to scorch the earth in a matter of seconds) and take a tough stance, (where you really are in a strong position to be able to do that) but that wasn't the case. I'm not arguing against fighting, just not choosing to fight a fight that is unfair to yourself to begin with. (where the odds are so massive against you that it isn't worth the risk to take, because if you lose you bring everything down with you.) True there are some within every group that can't be reasoned with, but the better action to have taken was to at least try first. If they still wish to kill you and you have no alternative?: sure fight to survive. But I see it as: "we want to blow them up because misa is a big fat liar, possibly exaggerating the numbers to scare us, and our weapons are more than a match to beat them. We being safe in this hole in the ground can negotiate after we kill enough of them first, where we can take a stronger position." ..but completely ignoring the price (the people living on the surface of the planet in direct line of fire from a reprisal attack) if they got it wrong.
  18. ..yeah but just make em similar but smaller and the correct type for the valk, thanks. I loved the look of the robot hands. pics of gbp hands for reference:
  19. They might scrape the ground too much is my guess. (lineart looks like they shrink in battroid modes) "skinny battroid" example: (note how close the the ground it is?) ..compared to.. the main things that might make battroid mode look off if they make a good fighter mode: -long boob syndrome -skinny limbs (making the fins at the back of legs stand out even more) -hip kibble looks awkward the longer it gets I'm thinking if they shortened the wings and fins and go for the shrunken parts look, they will get closer to the battroid mode lineart so that's probably the compromise they went for. and holding the tiny gunpod.
  20. Nice images of them here: http://animenewsi.com/index.php?itemid=9656&catid=245 I like how they are standing next to each other: http://animenewsi.net/g/index.php?mode=vie...ize=600&start=0 I really would have liked that FP were included..
  21. I agree with most of the suggestions: The main ones: -tampo printing (can't stand applying stickers that I know will peel off - takes a lot of patience to cut them out, apply them exactly so they are not crooked, and ensure they don't peel off) -posable or non-posable non-"perfect transforming" large hands (not bubble ones, robotic ones in the style of the gbp hands but smaller size) -unclude side parts (maybe if they ever release 1D. Decide to make that the standard) -give us fast packs for yf19 (there is no point in releasing FP and non-FP versions) -If possible try to panel line the toys (like they did for vf1 low vis or 1/72 macross plus valks.) -better box art (learn from toynami )
  22. Well that's what makes the original so good. It has that and then a love story as well. ie max and milia trying to kill each other and then they get married. (and then argue again in macross 7) And you've got misa seeing the bad side of her duty: her dad sends the crew off to die (never to return to earth again! ) while keeping her safe on earth. (oh so it is ok for other people's sons/daughters honourbly to die but not yours? ) It sort of shows the hypocrisy of the higher ups. Perfectly ok to tell gloval to launch the SDF1 into space with inexperienced crew, yet when their own daughter or son is involved and they know the chances are pretty bad they will take any chance they can get to save thier own skin. So you see there is conflict in the story between duty and common sense. If you were Misa's dad and Misa was your daughter what would you do? Now when Misa grows up and is in the same position of her dad, she might behave a bit different and choose a different path. (her knowing that the people above her have faults too, and how they don't want to believe her story about the massive number of aliens and instead choose the more risky decision going to war instead of trying to negotiate peace deal. And instead of thinking about the people living on the ship, just using the SDF1 as a "sacrifice" so they can take a position of strength in the negotiation if there were to be a peaceful resolution after they fire a few shots of the grand cannon) In the end her dad had to admit to misa: you were right about thier strength: there are too many for earth to handle and thier decision costs so many lives. (in the reprisal attack) It took the exhiled SDF1 to keep the human race from extinction. Characters like milia would have wanted a chance at peace. But you can't if one side wants to do some heavy damage first (to get a better deal in a negotiation by a show of force first) and instead of scaring them or impressing them with your power, you are actually angering the aliens more and do more harm (to yourself) than good.
  23. Hopefully the 0A CF will have it all fixed up by then.
  24. You disgust me! Although I have to admit there was some weakness: world map wasn't as maze-like as other zelda games. Just a hub with areas sticking off the sides of it. (but maybe they chose to put lots of empty space there so it would be fun roding a horse) But for the rest of us zelda fans: beautiful representation of zelda in 3d. (climbing up to a high spot and viewing all the locations from a nice distance as the sun set, all the things we could finally do that wouldn't have been the same in 2d) What I would have wished for more than CG-happy final fantasy games with prerendered background is for square to have done for secret of mana, what nintendo did for zelda in OOT. Make the world in 3d, with random weather and time of day, and you roam around in that world with similar control like OOT.
  25. Worse than that: It's not even inside the plane but just hanging out. hehe
