  1. It's more a bronze than a gold. For $155 bucks I'll pass ha Maybe if it was a shiny platinum we could talk.
  2. Wreck gar is the only one I really want. The others like Cup and Blur were pretty boring toys in the 80's... just wasn't feeling the futuristic hover car/truck designs. Didn't even like Hot Rod that much as a kid haha. I loved Wreck Gar though. Still have my original with all his chrome flaked off haha.
  3. Yeah, I hear you. The Seekers don't do it for me either. Repaints are one thing.. but repaints that get KO'd for half the price.. kills your enthusiasm.
  4. What the hell is that thing? I am getting a little MP buying fatigue to be honest. I skipped the MP-11 reissue. Skipped the YOTH prime. I cancelled my Soundblaster PO. I'm Just not feeling a repaint and paying $180-200 for a new tape. Thinking about canceling that G2 Lambor release too as I already have 3 variations of the mold. And the way they are pumping out numbers and all the KO's... it feels like a really expensive Universe/generations line now. Looking forward to wheeljack at least. Never was a big fan of Ultra Magnus either but I'll get him.
  5. They should be announcing another re-release by now...
  6. Cool stuff. I never had him as a kid I had jetfire though. He has long since gone to the toy graveyard.
  7. Same here. My state doesn't even have a shop that carries this stuff. If there is a convention it's all Gundam crap, which I have no interest in. I have to order everything online haha. But yeah these discussions are popping up everywhere. Transformers forums. Hot Toys forums. Prices are going up due to inflation and it's pricing some people out of the market. Just buy less per year I guess, or sell some old stuff.
  8. Still haven't opened mine. Looks cool but I May part with it.
  9. If anybody needs an yF-29 Isamu, I'm selling mine sealed as soon as I get it. Just hit me up on PM or my main sale thread.
  10. Yeah.. after you've been a macross fan.. it's hard to enjoy the Seeker mold. Even the MP's look kind of lame in fighter mode. The original seeker MP-3 looks pretty cool in fighter, but the robot mode is terrible hah.
  11. Looks better than the Roy box just by the lack of a dorky pose haha
  12. Ht seconday will be higher because more people collect. Larger market of people for more popular properties. Macross is specialized but it has its high end market too. The YF-19 being right at $300 is a big deal. Its hard to compare them though because Hot toys encompasses so many properties and movies, and macross is just one show. Remember..its a cartoon from 30 years ago! Haha. Lots of Hot Toys have 2 hour commercials from Hollywood that are on the screen or being release on Blu-ray all the time. You can't even get some macross stuff on video in NA. (Zero) I wouldn't say its out of reach, though. You can get most releases right around $200 or less if you PO on time. I would actually say Macross is a pretty soft market at the moment. Tons of hard to find releases that were artificially high have dropped in price over the last few months. The owner of your shop might be saying there is no money in it for him. Its hard to say. Maybe enough people don't buy for him to make it worth shipping a case over when he's selling out of other stuff. It's important to keep in mind though, that Macross collecting isn't for everybody. You just have to love Valks! haha. The transformation alone is a bit of barrier for some people too. Transformation and articulation for robots is a selling point, but HT has a quality and value that you don't see anywhere else. Personally, I have been really impressed with every Hot Toys release I buy and I'm having a blast collecting them. At the same time, phasing out my Bandai frontier stuff to the point that I might only keep Luca. I feel they are very overpriced for the actual quality you get in the box in terms of paint apps and materials. Plus they tend to loosen for no reason! That's not something I'm happy with. Plus I had a terrible experience with the VF-171. I'm at the point where id much rather have a hot toys release for $200, than a valk I have 3 copies of already, that has slightly different colors and a new head. Once you get valk transformation down, its all a rehash in that it's not very different from release to release. But my situation is a little different than most. I enjoyed Frontier a lot but I don't have a deep connection to it. I didn't like + at all, so the new 19 holds no interest to me. Cancelling my PO was easy at that price. There Just isn't a lot interesting me right now...where as on the flip side I'm really enjoying finding Hot Toys from movies/comics that really meant something to me in the past and present. The Hulk, Predator, The Terminator, Ect. I wil still collect SDF releases and support Arcadia, but I'll have to wait for their next project. I'm done with Bandai until they do something different,or make a less frustrating product. I don't play the Macross video games either, so having video game Valks that are minor tweaks to Frontier valks or whatever doesn't get me that excited. BUT to go back to your question, in the end the average collector would rather have a really boss Iron Man action figure over a weird looking transformer. Not that average is better, but I think the value is stronger to the casual guy. Plus, there is no real Macross property to excite people. I think we really need a live action movie. HT has a really slick product that holds its value well. Where as with Macross you end up paying more to PO, then it's worth less money after release. It's very frustrating. Macross on the other hand has sweet engineering and killer articulation. The accessories are pretty much the same song and dance; Missiles, pilot, stand ect. It can also be frustrating to transform and or display out of the box. I think the yf-19 is really going to be a make or break moment for Macross collecting. Frontier and Vf-1 rehashes can't last forever when it comes to keeping people interested beyond the die-hards and generating enough interest to keep companies making toys. I would love to see a high level chogokin deluxe VF-1 or something. But yeah, buying from a retailer adds a lot of variables unfortunately. They have to pay, rent, shipping and employees.
  13. Not sure. Only Iron Man I have is MKI V2 and the Midas... which I plan to flip. I'm looking for a MKVI Can't wait for Silver centurion though!
  14. Cancelled mine. I have MOS Superman, DX-13 Terminator, and Black Getter coming this month.. oh and I just paid for two smokescreens. I already have 5 VF-1's so I think I'm set for now haha. Maybe I'll grab one at a discount if it doesn't sell out.
  15. Woot, just got the last DX-13 at Amiami for $250. Seems to be selling out at $313 before shipping at other places. With my black getters I should get it well below $300.
  16. T4 would never have worked... it had too many story lines and no real focus. Salvation was SO frustrating because it had like moments where things clicked.. and then it just turned into a bad made for TV movie. I didn't care about the terminator who thought he was human. So silly. It's like Arnie says in T3, "Desire is irrelevant.. I am a MACHINE!". Totally missed the point. And then they piled this forced love story with the female resistance fighter that you meet half way through the film... pointless. I didn't give a fook about her or him. And she turns on her friends for a machine so they can makeout? What a hooker. NO.. that's not going to make us feel the same as Conner and Sarah falling for each other. Wrong themes, wrong ideas. No. Helena Cater was godawful and should have never been cast. She is a pretty terrible actor all the way around and she only gets roles because she bangs her hack husband... And that little girl "star"... totally pointless. Are we making cartoons here, or an apocalyptic sci-fi movie for adults? Oh.. look.. she doesn't talk. How cute. Plus, you had the sub-plots with the resistance leaders fighting each other... just another level of crap, while Conner's wife was little more than a background decoration after T3 had spent so much time on her. It was such a mess of a mess. Too many hands in the pot stirring things around throwing in crap we didn't need. I just wanted to see Conner and Reese doing cool crap in the future. That's all the film needed. That's all. And they fraked it up. It's so close to being a cool movie it hurts. (Kind of like AVP only needed aliens killing predators and so on, but that's another rant.) Here is what I would have done: I would edit the movie down to just the scenes with Conner finding out about the T-800 as the new big weapon. Then, have Reese pretty much on his own, maybe with another freedom fighter that dies along the way to add some gravity to the gritty visuals. Then Reese and Conner finally meet up and discover the fake human, which they reprogram to attack the T-800s and save Conners wife or something. Along the way Conner and Reese have a moment of muted understanding, then Conner's wife dies or Conner himself dies. Doesn't matter. There really isn't much reason to stay in the future other than to fill in the gaps about Reese, or show Conner being a badass. I would have edited the overly emotional human Terminator's back story completely out of the film. His brother died or something? Cut the little girl out completely. Cut Carter out and replace her with some scary machine code overmind. Something that visualizes the insanity of skynet. I don't know what's wrong with movie makers today. They tell stories like old people fook. Anyway, this is a cool article: If anybody has read Walt Simonson's and Frank Miller's Terminator vs Robocop comic it's pretty much the same thing. (Great read btw. Basically Robocop is the spark that makes skynet self aware.) http://latino-review.com/2013/12/crazy-world-terminator-time-travel/
  17. Yeah I'm really enjoying my foray into Hot Toys. I was always kind of weary of them... as I mostly liked robots and thought action figures were crappy like McFarlane stuff... but HT really takes things to another level. It kind of reminds me of what Yamato did for Macross. Yamato made Valks that looked as good as a model kit, but had articulation and transformation. HT is doing the same thing for the movies by making stuff that looks as good as a statue but has the ability to move. Love the packaging, quality, and all the extras. It's cool to grab pieces from movies that I really connect with a scene or whatever.
  18. Sorry to hear. I think I remember him selling some stuff. Always go with your passions because life is short. Spend time doing what you want to be doing. I guess that's the lesson.
  19. Neat! I'm about to break open my City Hunter Predator
  20. Used to watch Robotech when I came home from school at my grandma's house with my brother. Got into more anime in college but didn't buy any toys. didn't really keep up with it for years until recently.
  21. Would be nice to have one thread and the ability to edit and update titles because that's what people look at and for. Also would cut down on multiple posts and have a slower refresh on the board of topics. A longer character count on titles would be nice also.
