Inspiron 6000? Silver, with XP, right? Use it as an excuse to get something with Windows 7. -
For that matter, we're on a message board that routinely imports countless toys, videos, games, etc from Japan. Why is it ok to spend money if it's going to Japan, but it's not ok if the money goes to China? If it makes you feel any better, their California branch seems to operate fairly independently from the Chinese HQ, including scoring a few projects on their own. Or, for extra happy good feelings, remember that the game is free to play now (or Tuesday). You can play the game without spending a dime on it. I canceled my sub back in October (because I didn't think I was playing enough for it to be worth it and knew it was going to be F2P, not because I have anything against Perfect World). Seems I can't totally avoid paying money to Cryptic/PW, though. The Akira's fine if you're playing Escorts, but if you're playing Science or Cruiser, you're going to want to spend real money for one of the other ships. I plan on buying an Excelsior when I get home from work tomorrow.

I'm being selective, but mostly because I'm not big on the movie-derived designs. If I can find that Optimus-Megatron two-pack, there's a fair chance it'll be the first and last TF Prime toy I buy.

Perfect World bought Cryptic from Atari in May 2011. They're Chinese, with their HQ in Beijing, but they apparently have an office in Foster City, California. They specialize in MMOs, inlcuding one named Perfect World. Runic is supposedly working on a Torchlight MMO, and Perfect World is supposed to publish it.

Very nice. I always wanted an Evo, but best I could afford was a GTS. -
I'm playing again too. I loaded up my rear admiral, flew around a bit in my Prometheus, and was a little daunted by everything that changed. So I decided to to start over. Still playing Federation, but I'm an engineer instead of tactical, and I'm flying cruisers instead of escorts this time. I know that if you had stuff that is considered "premium" now you have to convert your toon to a F2P unless you remain a subscriber. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that I still have my preorder bonuses and my Collector's Edition bonuses, though.

Really? That's odd. I set my network up to use OpenDNS at the router level, since I didn't feel like changing the settings for the multiple computers I've got lying around. I haven't had trouble with any of my connections. -

If there's a way to do it, I'm not aware of it. And if there's a way to do it, it can't be any easier that connecting your PS3 to the internet. -

I have heard that, yes. They are indeed working on some kind of project... for fans. But aside from being a fans' project, details are sketchy.

MP10 looks nice enough, but not really different enough vs. MP-01. If Hasbro does a reasonably-priced US version, maybe, but no way I'm importing. And hey, since Takara seems to have decided to start over on the MPs, maybe we can get a better MP Megatron?

They make adapters for that, you know. I was using my fiber optic inputs on my receiver for my PS3 and my Xbox 360. I wanted to add an HTPC, and I picked a mobo because it was advertised as having fiber optic and coax outputs. Except, as it turns out, the coax was input only. So I bought an adapter, ran audio from the fiber optic out, coverted it to coax, then ran it into the coax input on the receiver. Try searching Amazon for "fiber optic to coax" or "toslink to coax." I can't remember for sure, but I think that's where I got mine, and it was less than $20. -
Managed to get to TRU today... and they had nothing that wasn't Dark of the Moon (side from their exclusive repainted War for Cybertron pack). Two or three pegs of Deluxes, several Cyberverse, some Optimus Prime and Bumblebee masks, a ton of some kind of playset that had Legends looking guys, a Legends pack that had Classics and DotM Bumblebee with Cybertron and DotM Starscreem, some Voyager Sentinel Primes, and a TON of Ultimate Primes. Not a single TF Prime toy. Not even the two-pack, which I totally would have settled for.

I was thinking about going to TRU today. I'd like Voyager Prime, as he looks a lot better than the Deluxe, and I want Megatron. Does he have a Voyager? If not, I'll probably get the two pack. Kinda digging that Bulkhead, too, and the Prime version of Bulkhead looks like he might blend in with my Classics. As for the rest, Bumblebee and Ratchet don't interest me at all. I like Arcee and Starscream's characters on the show, but I'm not sure if I want the Deluxe figure or not. None of the other Decepticons really interest me. I'll probably start stashing a little bit away for whenever Hasbro releases any Fall of Cybertron figures. I doubt I'll actually get to go to TRU today, though. After enjoying a pretty mild winter so far, with temps mostly in the mid 40s, the temperature plummetted overnight on Sunday, then it started snowing in the afternoon yesterday. Not sure if it's stopped yet or not, but I'll probably wait and see how things look tomorrow. I gotta go fix my grandpap's computer anyway.

I liked it for three main reasons. 1 - Excellent ship-based combat. Like a faster, prettier, more intense Starfleet Command 3, you used energy weapons to wear away at shields, and torpedos for maximum damage on unprotected hull. You could dirvert power to different systems for speed, offensive, and defensive reasons, and your captain and bridge officers brought special skills into the mix. 2 - Main quest strings played out like episodes of the shows. Probably not as big a draw if you're not a fan of the shows, but I liked it, and it helped the game feel like there was reason behind a quest instead of finding a dude with a quest marker, running off the check list, and turning it in for your reward. 3 - You could play most of the game as if it were a single player game. Main quests were designed as if you're ship is on it's own, and ground missions had you controlling your captain while the AI controlled a few of your bridge officers as your away team. It's true that in sector space, you'd see other players cruising along, and there was definitely PVE and PVP stuff you could do, but it was never required (although, at higher levels, it was harder to get enough XP if you didn't do some group-based gameplay). I have mixed feelings about other stuff in the game. Ground missions have improved from when the game first launched, but it's still not as fun as ship combat. I also like that if you were running out missions but not interested in the group stuff, you could do community-authored quests. Some of the ones I did were quite clever and entertaining, but some of them were a little tedious. To get quest rewards, though, you had to do three of them, and many of them were on the longish side, which sometimes left you feeling like it was a lot of work for a little reward.

An Optimus/Megatron 2 pack? That's more than I've seen.Granted, I've heard they've only been showing up at TRU? I haven't been there since a month or so before Christmas.

Bad, yes. But I wouldn't say it's Rebecca Black bad.

But again, if number of available pilots/mecha is the thing, it still makes more sense to stick with UC. And I agree with it being the worst Gundam series. 10 years already? Man, times flies. But yeah, this is the best explaination I've heard for why they're making a SEED game instead of a UC or multi-universe Gundam game.

Staples does as well. -
But SEED doesn't have the variety that UC does, plus UC (especially the One Year War stuff) is always crazy popular. SEED's just an odd choice. Unless it was somehow more popular in Japan that I realized, there are both better Gundam series and newer Gundam series.

I may have to swing by and check it out. I kind of want Ultimate Optimus Prime, but I don't want him for the $60 Target is asking, let alone the $80 that TRU seems to think he's worth. Then again, 40% off of TRU's ridiculous price is still $47.99...
