  1. It is, but (at least to me) only because of the gold. Like I said, I like the red crotch lights, the blue biceps, and the blue waist. I kind of want to turn him into an MP Pepsi Prime.
  2. BBTS is only $10 less than TRU, but TRU is usually free shipping on orders that expensive. Not sure how much BBTS charges for shipping, but it seems like kind of a wash. I kind of hope you're right about nobody wanting one, because I kind of want one. The gold is just horrible, but I like the blue biceps and waist, and the red crotch lights. I don't want to pay $120-$130, so maybe if no one buys them they'll go on clearance later. I'll be sorely tempted if they go under $100.
  3. Still haven't found a PS4. Last week Walmart.com indicated that my local store had some in stock, but when I asked about it they said they were still holding some for preorders. I *might* be tempted to go out tomorrow and look.
  4. AFAIK, Best Buy matches Amazon's prices now. Not sure how much tax is in San Diego, but I can't imagine you'd be paying more than $10-$15 more for a sealed retail box.
  5. What kind of shipping are you planning on going for? I see it for around $80 on Amazon and Newegg, and that's enough that if even if you don't have Prime you should qualify for free Super Saver shipping or whatever. Shopping for routers, though, yeah, it's a headache. Especially when you don't want to spend too much. I didn't want to spend a lot, and I wound up spending $150 on just the router.
  6. Basically. It's also a way to "encourage" users to get on a new standard, reducing the need to support the old ones. As well you should. It's worth a shot, to make sure that you're not having issues with the router Technically, even 802.11b should support internet that slow. But, older devices can't handle as many devices. Back when I got my b router, I had two wired desktops and one wireless laptop. Today, I've got four wired computers, a wired printer, a wired PS3 and Xbox One, plus a couple of wireless consoles (Wii U, 360, and a second PS3), four laptops, two iPads, two smartphones, a Vita, a 3DS, a Shield, two Chromecasts, a Nexus 7, etc. So... what kind of router do you have, and how many devices are connected to it?
  7. Hard to say. It doesn't matter what your modem is rated for... you connect at the highest DOCSIS version supported on both ends. So if your modem is only DOCSIS 2, and they're pushing you to upgrade to DOCSIS 3.0, they could be throttling DOCSIS 2 connections (for the record, I thought my cable speeds with Comcast's cheapest internet were pretty crappy, but I'm getting something like 10Mb/s more than you, and I've seen faster DSL). DOCSIS 3.0 does support more throughput than DOCSIS 2 anyway, so it's not like upgrading will hurt anything. I'm not sure what all Cox offers, but I know that the cheapest modem-only from Comcast is $8/month. When I pointed out that a good modem like the SB6141 pays for itself in under a year, I convinced a friend of mine to to finally buy his own modem. And then, like I said, if you like your router, you don't have to change it out, so you don't have to mess with your Wi-Fi settings or anything like that.
  8. What Az said. Put more simply, you probably don't need a to buy a new modem. You can buy one if you want (I did), since DOCSIS 3.0 is the new standard, but I don't recommend buying anything directly from Cox, and certainly not renting (I figured out how long I'd been with Comcast when I bought my modem, and realized that if I was rented I'd have paid over $800 for my modem by now). I do heartily recommend the Motorola SB6141. Like Az, I recommend buying them separately. I went through two routers and three generations of 802.11 Wi-Fi in the time I had my old modem. Router's improve a lot faster than cable modems. Likewise, suppose you switch ISP, like if FIOS rolled into your area. Then you'd need a new modem, but you wouldn't have to change your router or Wi-Fi settings. But perhaps the best argument for going separate is that Motorola is still the king of cable modems, but the router field is a bit more messy. I had a Netgear wireless B router for years that was pretty solid, until it totally died. I replaced it with an N300 router from Netgear that started dropping the internet connection and randomly dropping devices from the network after only a year or two. Linksys, who's WRT54G router was almost legendary, started releasing some pretty shoddy routers, followed by some good routers, before being bought up by Belkin, who (in my opinion) always made pretty lousy routers. When I decided to upgrade my network, I had my modem picked out without any issue, but I agonized over my router. After reading a ton of professional and personal reviews, I eventually settled on D-Link AC1750 router that was pretty easy to configure and set up, and has been solid so far if not spectacular.
  9. Sounds like Year of the Horse MP Optimus is coming Stateside...
  10. Well, I can't really judge, because Bee is the only one I ever found, aside from the Deluxe Prime/Megatron two-pack I picked up when I went to Beijing. Going just from pics, FE Bulkhead and Voyager FE Prime look a lot better too, but they're not as easy or as cheap to find as the Deluxes. FE Cliffjumper looks a lot better than the regular one, too, but for a character that dies in the first episode, having a great toy of him is a low priority. I do prefer the regular Voyager Prime to the FE Deluxe Prime, though. However, I think that FE Deluxe Megatron is better than the Voyager one... shame it's so small. For Arcee, I prefer the more feminine non-FE version, and I think that the regular Vehicon is an improvement over the FE version in just about every way. As for Starscream, I think it's a tough call, as they're pretty similar. What I can say is that the non-FE Bumblebee was one of the absolute worst figures in the entire Prime line. He was the only one that I felt I needed to replace, if I found an FE version. If I could get my hands of FE Voyager Prime or FE Bulkhead at a reasonable price (reasonable being $30-$40 for a Voyager, I think), I'd consider it, but the regular ones aren't so bad that I feel a powerful urge to replace them. And as I said, I prefer regular Vehicon and Arcee, and Cliffjumper isn't as important.
  11. So a buddy of mine was out looking for some Walking Dead figures for his wife, and he asked me to tag along. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but I wound up finding First Edition Deluxe Bumblebee and Starscream. I passed on Screamer... $16 is a lot for a Deluxe, and it really looks like a smaller version of the Voyager-sized one I already have. But I thought the regular Deluxe Bumblebee was one of the worst figures in the Prime line, and the FE version looked a ton better. I'll start off by saying this... neither figure is perfect. In alt mode, they're very similar, although FE is slightly larger and has more paint apps including his rims, fog lights, turn signals and tail lights, and the small black stripes on the sides of the front. Both have a square of gray plastic on the door hinge that isn't on the animation. FE doesn't have the 5mm peg hole on the engine block. However, on the underside of the car are tabs on his feet. There are grooves on the bottom of his gun that slot onto those tabs, so he can store his weapon in alt mode. The big differences are in bot mode. His legs are fairly similar on both versions, with the biggest difference being the rear windshield is split and folded down on the backs of his legs on the FE version. The FE version is also slightly larger with wider hips. Neither has the black marks on his knees. FE Prime does have dark gray feet and black stripes on his hips, which is a little more accurate than regular's black feet and stripeless hips. Regular has more toon accurate shoulders, with the wheels behind and the shoulder pads in front of the tires. FE's tires are pretty much in the same position as in car mode, with the shoulder pads folding up and pegging into his rims. Regular has toon-accurate black hands, while FE again used a dark gray. On the whole, though, FE's arms have a wider range of motion than regular's with larger forearms and no door kibble hanging off them. Speaking of doors, a slight edge goes to regular. The way his torso sits, his wings are up higher, and FE has part of the roof split and folded down behind his door wings. Head sculpts are VERY similar. I'd think they were the same mold if the clear light-piping part on FE's wasn't so much smaller. Regular's face is painted silver, and his eyes don't seem to stand out as much, though, while FE's is painted a darker gray. Where FE really pulls away from the regular version, though, is the torso. Regular Bee has a stupid mech-tech gimmick where you pull his arms/wheels out and his chest automatically pulls apart and his head flips out. The result is that his headlight chest his closer to his navel, his head is sort of always looking down and his chest slopes sharply downward, there's a very visible hinge and a gap and part of the front grill is protruding from the back of his neck up higher than his head. On the back, his rear windshield is folded under the roof, which pegs into his butt with the windshield between his shoulders. FE Bee has a much better transformation where the middle of the hood folds up, twists around, and folds back down, exposing his head and neck. The rest of the top of the hood is more like his shoulders, and his headlights are where his pecs should be. A panel folds up to make his lats, and the front end sort of squeezes together and pegs onto hooks under his shoulders. The result is both more toon accurate and more dynamic. From behind, since the roof his on his door-wings and the rear windshield is on his legs, only the front window is folding onto his back, between his shoulders. It's a bummer that FE Bee only comes with one arm blaster, but the pegs do accommodate regular Bee's. On the whole, if you're looking for a Prime Bumblebee, FE is the one to get. Even if you have the regular one, get the FE version if you have a chance. It's miles better. Here's some pics. Regular Bee on the left, FE on the right.
  12. I won't say no to an MP Galvatron, but UT's not-Galvatron will look way better with my CHUGs than the itty-bitty Universe one.
  13. Seems like my kind of movie (I liked Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle, after all).
  14. I'll wait until the US release, and I'll look at the roster. I liked the first one, hated the second one, and loved the third one, so it could go either way for me. As long as we're talking Gundam games, what the heck is going on with Artdink? They haven't released a Gundam game since the SEED one for the Vita.
  15. PSP? It only came out for PS2 and the original Xbox. I never played Invasion. I liked Battlecry, aside from one really frustrating level where you had to defend a stadium or something. But I liked it because of the Valkyries... I'm a Macross fan, not a Robotech or Mospeada fan.
  16. I don't follow. LTTP was SNES, so it's not a portable game, nor this generation. Unless you count the GBA version (which, if we're not counting P4 Golden due to it being a remake, we shouldn't), but even then it's not this generation.
  17. Initially, I thought so too. Then I replayed it LTTP.
  18. I had some last-minute holiday shopping to do, and I figured I'd look for PS4s while I'm at it. None to be found (although Walmart.com insists my local Walmart has them, the staff there insist they don't). Target had at least eight Xbones, though. I don't know if Microsoft is manufacturing them faster, people really prefer the PS4 that much, or some combination of the two is to blame, but the Xbone has been way easier to find in my area.
  19. It's amazing how good that Rhinox looks, especially since it's just a Voyager. That said, I'm thinking I'll probably pass on him, just like I did Dinobot. While I really enjoyed the Beast Wars show, there's something about robots that turn into what appear to be flesh and blood organic animals (as opposed to robot animals, like the G1 Predacons) that's always turned me off. That's really why I've never strayed far from CHUG. I'm still planning on getting Waspinator, though. He and Black Arachnia somehow work in my head fanon. Oh, BTW, it looks like your Rhinox still has some of those annoying clear ties on his chest, around the bottom of the rhino mouth.
  20. I didn't know that. I knew about the Covenant of Primus, and the Art of Transformers Prime, but a G1 toy box art book is even better. Thanks for the heads up.
  21. I love the painted art from G1 toys. Anyone know where you can get prints of those?
  22. I don't mind it. It makes use of Motormaster's trailer and helps keep Menasor's feet from being separate pieces, and it's not particularly inaccurate, at least to the cartoon. If you watch episodes with Menasor, his lower legs were gray and the Stunticon cars were actually stuck on the back. At least this way the cars are in the front.
  23. If I consider this generation to be 3DS/Vita (so no DS/PSP games or older), and I take out Persona 4 Golden for the reason you specified (which was why I didn't consider it for Game of the Year, despite it being literally the best game I'd played that year), then I'd say that A Link Between Worlds is definitely a front runner. In fact, the only game I'd say is close is Super Mario 3D Land, which I felt was the perfect blend of 2D and 3D-style Mario gameplay (and, incidentally, was way better than 3D World due to its superior level design).
  24. Ooh, that's a toughie. As much as I enjoyed Pokemon X/Y (and Project X Zone, and Shin Megami Tensei IV... 3DS has had a really solid year), I feel pretty comfortable saying that A Link Between Worlds was the best portable game this year. But the whole generation? It's got some serious competition from Persona 4 Golden, aka the only reason I still have a Vita.
