  1. I do not want a transforming Kia Forte that badly.
  2. Huh. You learn something new every day. Well, I think ergonomics studies showed that most participants were faster with a touch pad, so they're not popular enough to warrant the extra hardware on a lot of computers. Like I said, though, they're still standard on Lenovo ThinkPad laptops, including the Twist. Personally? I have a mouse for three out of the four laptops we have laying around. Only the 17" Dell I rescued being recycled didn't warrant its own mouse.
  3. Pointing sticks? You mean those little nubbins in the middle of some Lenovo keyboards?
  4. I'm not sure about the aesthetic... I expect that the eventual MP release will be less Choro-Q and more accurate to a real Classic Beetle in alt mode. I think it's tough to say that matches the scale of the current MP line, though. The thing is almost identical in proportion to Classics Bee. The current MPs have been slightly larger than their Deluxe-class CHUG counterparts, but on the other hand a Beetle is smaller than a Lamborghini or a Fairlady Z, so maybe that would be the right size for an MP Bee?
  5. The cartoon looks horrible. But I could see myself buying the Tobot toys. Transforming Kias aren't a bad thing.
  6. Lots of people in this thread seem intent on comparing Bii to a future MP Bee we haven't even seen yet. Why? I get that the MP cars have been smaller than MP-08, MP-09, MP-10, etc. And I get that the price of a third-party figure like Bii is closer to the price of an official MP release than a Deluxe-class. But it's pretty obvious, especially from the comparison pics with Classics Bee, that Bii is meant to be more CHUG than MP.
  7. I know! I mean, I figured that they'd take effort to find, but after not having too much trouble finding an Xbox One (or a Wii U last year), I didn't expect that two months after launch and I'd still be more likely to find Bigfoot than a PS4 in the wild. Even better for me, I got the email from Amazon that they shipped already! So instead of "in stock on the 19th", I should actually have it Wednesday. The logical, rational side of me is still doesn't even really want any of the PS4 games that are out (although as a PS+ member, I claimed my freebie Resogun from the web version of the PSN). But I guess I'm just not right in the head... my brains need to complete sets turned a very rational "I'm sure I'll get one eventually" into an obsessive "I must have it now!" Especially because, for me, it completed not one but two sets... it was the only next-gen system I didn't have, and the only PlayStation I didn't have.
  8. I was sleeping by then. Went to bed after the Pens game. EDIT: After refreshing my browser most of the day, I completed an order that's supposed to ship on the 19th. Got the order confirmation email. Now it's a waiting game...
  9. Lucky. May I ask what part of the US you're in? (I'm in the Pittsburgh area). The problem is, every time it says it's in stock at Amazon, when I try to actually put it in my cart I get a message, "We're sorry. The item PlayStation 4 is no longer available from the seller you selected." As I'm typing this, a search for "PlayStation 4" will show it as the first item, in stock for 1-17. If click on the product page, I see it as "ships and sold from by Amazon" and "Backorderd until 1-17, reserve yours now". But no matter what, I never get to the shopping cart with it. So it doesn't matter what the product page says, until I can actually order one, it's out of stock.
  10. Well, was out making the rounds again this morning. A Walmart employee confirmed what I'd suspected- they haven't received any PS4s since the week of Christmas.
  11. Smaller. It's meant to be Voyager-sized, not MP sized. EDIT: There aren't any pics of Mania King next to MP-10 that I could find. However, if you have or are familiar with Transformers Prime Ultra Magnus (the first one, not the Beast Hunters one that's a remold of Optimus), or Generations Blitzwing, Mania King is about the same size as them. Or, if you have Universe/Henkei Cyclonus, Mania King is a head taller than the top of Cyclonus' bunny ears.
  12. I think the whole argument is kind of getting ridiculous. On one side, I'm basically hearing "Mania King is the worst thing ever because he's not the right shade of purple!" On the other side, it's, "Galvatron has been depicted in as all sorts of purples and even grays, so your opinion is invalid/wrong/stupid!" To the first group, yeah, that purple is a little dark. I'm sorry if that bothers you, but I still feel that Mania King is 100x better than the G1 toy, the CHUG toy, Energon Megatron, or any other Galvatron toy to have existed, and if Mania King is a little dark, well, he's still purple. It's not like he's orange. I'm not picky enough about the color to pass on what appears to be an excellent Galvatron toy. To the second group, no one gives a crap about promo art from Japan, promo art from America, or old Marvel comic books. In the cartoon, he ranged from a bright to dull lavender purple, and Mania King is clearly darker than that (although probably not as bad as a crappy low-light cellphone pic makes it out to be). No amount of arguing or pics from other sources is going to change the fact that Mania King isn't colored exactly like the cartoon, or that for some people that matters. The sooner we all agree that Mania King's color doesn't match the purple from the cartoon and that fact really bothers some people but other people not so much, the sooner we can talk about not-Menasor, not-Predaking(s), not-Headmasters, etc peacefully again.
  13. Looks like a crappy movie based on a crappy anime (that people seem to like for some reason). No thanks.
  14. I do wish that Mania King's cannon was more orange and less white, and that all the white was gray. It's hard to tell from the lighting in that pic if his purple is too dark or if there's just not enough light in the photo. Even supposing that it really is that dark, I'm ok with it. Most toys, especially given that it's only Voyager-sized, have some flaws, and the fact is Mania King is indisputably the best representation of Galvatron in toy form. Cannon mode is solid, and that bot is fantastic, just the right mix of G1 animated look and the more menacing IDW-verse Galvatron. It's miles better than the crappy CHUG version. I know you can be a little particular about color, but frankly the only question I have left before I buy one is "how much?".
  15. Well, I'll caution you that I'm a lot less knowledgeable about this than I am about computer stuff. That being said, upconversion, in my opinion, is generally ok, and can vary between devices doing the upconversion. However, depending on what you plan on hooking up to it, I don't think it's necessary for the receiver to do it. A lot of devices, such as the PlayStation 3, will upconvert the video before it's even sent to the receiver (and the PS3 does a pretty good job of upconverting, too). (Guys, please feel free to contradict me if you know better than I do!) I doubt that this is still as big a deal now, but a few years ago when I bought a receiver, I found out later that it only supported pass-through on HDMI audio. In other words, I could get 5.1 sound out of toslink or coax, but if the source was HDMI it'd just send it through to the TV's tinny stereo speakers. I'd be more worried about making sure the receiver can decode HDMI audio than whether or not it upcoverts video. Also, the more HDMI ports the better. I got one with four, and it's full. I actually have my Wii U and my Xbox 360 sharing a port via a small manual switch so that I have a free input for whenever I finally find a PS4.
  16. Yeah, no dice for me. I got to the product page, saw it with the backordered status and a message about preordering for January 10th, but again when I clicked to add it to my cart I got the out of stock message.
  17. My local stores have Xbox Ones, too. But I've bought one, and I've witnessed other people buying them. I can believe that there's a higher demand for the PS4, but if a store is well-stocked on Xbones, sells some, and is well-stocked at a later day, while same store hasn't received any new PS4s since before Christmas, I can only conclude that Microsoft is restocking retailers, and Sony isn't. My only questions now are if this is because of the upcoming Japanese launch, and if I keep checking back every single day how soon can I expect to actually find a PS4?
  18. This morning, I check Amazon to see if they have any PS4s. It says they don't, but I decided to look to see what the third-party offers were. Suddenly, it says that Amazon has them in stock, Prime shipping and all, but it might take an extra day or two to process. That still seems faster than the local stores, so I click to add it to my cart. No dice, it tells me there's none in stock. Dunno if there was a glitch on the Amazon page, or if they someone sold out in the seconds it took me to try to add it to my cart, but disappointing either way. Speaking of local stores, I've talked to a few Gamestops, three Targets, and two Walmarts. None of them have actually received any new ones since before Christmas (this, despite the Target website advertising they'd have PS4s in stock the day after Christmas). I wonder if Sony will be able to maintain their 0.1 million console lead when the Xbox One is readily available and the PS4 still isn't? As I've said before, I really doubt people are just passing up the Xbox One while they wait for the PS4 to restock (I know I didn't). I wonder if the 2-22 PS4 launch in Japan has anything to do the total absence of restock?
  19. I'd have to have more tests with and without to get more accurate averages, as well as an idea of how much and what for you're using your internet. But my gut says no. Maybe. I don't have a PS4 (yet), but if the PS4 supports 5Ghz, then yes. You can run it on the 5Ghz band and the Dell on the 2.4Ghz band.
  20. It won't hurt to invest in a dual-band router, but it's like investing in the future. You likely won't see any payoff now, but in the future, who knows? I've been waiting forever for Verizon to make FIOS available in my area. Not sure how fast Verizon's FIOS is, but I know some fiber companies are aiming for 500-1000mbps. 802.11 technology is wonderfully backwards compatible. However, a downside is that the network is only as fast as the slowest device. If you connect with an older wireless G laptop, you're going to cap out at 54mbps, even if you have another N device capable of 150mbps, for as long as the G device is on the network. Which brings me to another benefit of dual-band. In effect, it's almost like having two networks. In theory, I could connect my older devices to the 2.4GHz network, and newer devices to the 5GHz network. That way, the the older devices aren't slowing down the newer ones. Of course, I get an average of around 13mbps with Comcast, so in practice I still connect most of my devices to the 2.4Ghz network and pretty much dedicate the 5GHz network to game streaming through my Nvidia Shield. As for your "Premier service," when a cable company says "up to" they really mean "up to." Not sure if Cox is the same way, but Comcast has "burst" speeds. What it basically means is that when I start a download, I'll have really good speeds, but they'll quickly taper off. Comcast can say that those fasts bursts are speeds I might get "up to," but they're not even remotely indicative of my average.
  21. Not really. In the days of 802.11b, maybe. B was only rated for 11mbps. And while technically good ol' 10/100 Ethernet is faster than 802.11G, G was still rated for 54mbps. However, at that point, your weakest link is no longer the Wi-Fi speeds, it's the cable speed (which, on your best posted speed test, was less than 33mbps). Of course, the more devices you have, the more that 54mbps is divvied up... but that's where newer standards like N and AC come in. My router can do 1000mbps over Ethernet, 450mbps on a 2.4GHz band, and 1300mbps over a 5GHz band. All much, much faster than the internet coming in.
  22. Nope. The only source I can find reporting this is some Spanish-language site called Revogamers, which seems to be a Nintendo fansite. They have quotes from Team ICO's Ueda, but no links or sources, and I can find zero mention of this from anywhere that doesn't link back to the Revogamers article. Oddly, the article claims that Nintendo bought Team ICO on the 28th, but was published on the 27th.
  23. Still no PS4s in my area, and that this point I'm starting to think the shortages are more supply-side than increased demand over the readily-available Xbone. I did visit a friend who got a PS4, though, so I finally had a chance to experience the system. The new controller is definitely nice and comfortable, a huge improvement over the DualShock 3, but I personally found the Xbone controller to be a tad comfier. The interface is practical, but the way people were talking it up I guess I expected more. There isn't a game on disc that I'd buy for it (that I don't already have on PC), and the game my buddy showed me (Killzone) looked kind of boring and fairly unimpressive graphically. That said, Resogun was really fun, and I could see myself sinking a bit of time into it when I finally get my hands on a PS4 of my own.
  24. Yeah, this, pretty much. So you're probably fine without doing anything more. That said... Maybe both. A better router, can handle traffic more intelligently. And running wires reduces the possibility of interference or conflicting IPs on the network. When I redid my network, I actually ran an Ethernet line down from the router into a gigabit switch, then hardwired the printer and the quartet of computers in my "man-cave". Should you choose to wire your network, Cat 6 is better than Cat 5e, which is better than regular Cat 5. However, real speeds are limited to the capabilities of the devices you're wiring, and in real-world conditions you're unlikely to notice the difference between Cat 5e and Cat 6. For what it's worth, though, you're also unlikely to notice the difference between wired and wireless, especially if you're network is small.
  25. If Cox works like Comcast, I just connecting the new modem to a PC directly, and the activation page would come up in the browser. A few clicks later, and I was all set up.
