Scyla replied to captain america's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
@captain america While these resin kits are not for me I have to say I absolutely admire your talent and dedication that go into making these kits. Thank you for sharing these behind the scenes images with us spectators on the side line. -
I think I need to reevaluate some life decisions. Like not to collect more GFFMC toys.

I would totally buy a G1 MP Barricade Bader on a 1984 Ford Mustang police car if Takara or a 3rd party company would make one. Same goes for Drift, Bulkhead, Windblade and Slipstream.- 17378 replies

I have a preorder with BBTS for the same price. It is like a decade old. I wonder if they will honor the price whenever Berserk comes out (if ever).- 9336 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Scyla replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Interesting, I always thought that the latter one was the title of this thread. Anyhow, I started to watch Bleach again. Back when it aired I dropped out during the Hueco Mundo arc. With thr arc being so similar to the Soul Society one and having to wait a week to move the story forward a miniscule bit forward just to find out that there was another filler arc I lost interest in the show. Now with the news that Bleach will return in 2021 I thought to give the show another chance or at least finish the Aizen storyline. I wonder how it will play out this time. -

I‘m a big fan of FansToys Maverick, while not a perfect Concorde they did an admirable job at cleaning up the underside. The only thing missing is a panel to hide the thighs and a correctly done nosecone.- 9336 replies

As far as I know the big sword was a freebie for PEs 10th anniversary and was originally designed for their Origins Leonidas (Leo Convoy). That might be the reason why it is not featured in the instructions since the base toy is a retool/repaint of their Jetpower Revive Prime that didn’t have this sword. I have the black version of Origin Leonidas (called Xerxes) somewhere and I can check if anything about the sword is mentioned in there.- 9336 replies

Got my MMC Probus in and he is... ok. I really wish they found a way to collapse the legs and upper arms. He is just so blocky and angular and that prevents him from being more poseable. I also wished he had a double jointed knee for better. Playing with him feels limited since every time I try to get him in a more elaborated pose the range of motion is not enough. He also has cuts in his square thighs. Hate to see it. On the plus side he is a joy to transform and besides the blocky limbs the sculpt is excellent. Overall I think I like Volatus the best from the set even with all his shortcomings. Probus, Impetus and Fraudo are right behind him with Incursus being dead last. Which is a shame since Onslaught ist my favorite Combaticon. His proportions are just too far off. I wished they made the lower part of him bigger and bulkier to counter the elongated torso and collapse them for combined mode, plus a way to give his torso more definition. MMC knows this is an issue since they try to hide where his actual wist is with a paint app. And while I like the all in one design I can see how a well made waist and upper leg piece could help with a lot of issues this set has. During combination Incursus just flopps about at his many joints needed to make his hips into Assaultus‘. Need to find a way to display them in bot mode with Onslaught in the back hiding his lower part of the body. Maybe FT will make the Onslaught of my dreams soon. These toys feel like they where lifted from the Reformatted line. Solid chunks of plastic that are fun to play with. Because of that I feel like they have a hard time fitting in with an overall MP collection and MMCs own OX line.- 9336 replies

Finished Build Divers Re:Rise yesterday. It is a good series but it went almost full Gundam and the Gunpla itself has no real impact on the whole story. Build Fighters: Try is still my favorite ofthe Build series so far. -

Yeah, the connection for the hatch is stable enough however it feels flimsy and cheap and I don’t like if my collectibles do this. Here is a comparison with the Rogue One AT-ST and the most recent ISD playset:
-
Finished building the new 2020 AT-AT. In general it is a neat set with fun builds. I especially like the covers around the joints where the legs meet the body. It goes seamlessly from a traditional build to assemblies that are attached vertically; impressive. Few nitpicks. I really wished that they painted the dishes for the leg joints. Would make them pop more. I also would loved to have a bigger AT-AT in general that is closer to minifig scale. However I could see that making it that big could make the set unstable giving the thin legs of the original design. What I dislike about the set is the way the top hatch for the cockpit is designed. The hatch is 5 studs wide and they opted for a 4 stud and 1 stud plate that is only connected by the detailing bits on the top which makes it unstable. I don’t know why there is no 5 stud wide plate produced by Lego.

@mikeszekely I think what I‘ve meant with fit and finish of Incursus are the ugly gate marks on visible places all over my copy. Thankfully Volatus has nothing like it as far as I can tell. After fiddling with Volatus some more I really wish that the inner arm kibble would rotate around 180 degrees to the forearms. This would also hide the front landing gear on the backside of the robot. Shame that they didn’t implement that. It is the only real eyesore of that toy.- 9336 replies

Few more observations about Volatus. @mikeszekely if you are bothered by the fake landing gear in shuttle mode you can flip them to the inside of the pieces they are attached to. Also I think the head sculpt is somewhat off. There is something missing around the neck, and the top of the head looks too long. It seems line art accurate but it looks weird to me. Also am I the only one that finds it odd that the cockpit is on the inside of the shoulder spire? It just looks so unnatural. Gunbuster looks much better.- 9336 replies

Volatus is great, I received mine yesterday and he is a joy to transform. Something you rarely find in most 3rd party offerings and even the most recent official MP figures. Some criticism. While he has the same joint on his mid lower leg that their Vortex has to fake an ankle tilt , Volatus has some clips there to hold it together. That makes the joint pretty useless since you can’t do subtle poses since the clip keeps the joint a few mm open. And the joint only looks good for subtle poses. I‘m not sure about the choice of locks that keep the front and back portions of the shuttle together. Their design seems to be prone to breakage and I think tabs would have been a better alternative. I also don’t like the swirly gray plastic they used for the combiner hand. Looks cheap and I would have preferred a flat gray if they can’t paint it silver due to transformation. Great set so far with Onslaught being the weakest one in design, aesthetic and build quality.- 9336 replies

God, I need to went some steam. What is it with Japanese Webstores these days. I tried to order from HLJ (which is usually my go to store for regular releases) but their site doesn't let me checkout. And I won't order anything from NY (which is was my go to store for Japan only items) because I have three open order of released items that they are not processing for shipment. NY needs to proof to me that they are able to ship any of the items I payed for before I place any more orders with them. Why do they make it so difficult for me to spend money with them, I don't understand! Anyhow... I'm on board for this release but I somehow wished Arcadia would include the head sculpt Bandai put on the HMR Focker release. I know it is not canon but it would offer some variety between the different releases besides the paint job.

Great, now we can build it in military colors!! [edit:] taking a closer look at the instructions and it seems like it is mostly gray. From the promo pics I somehow got the impression the set was orange and a dark blue... odd.
