  1. I seen a Testor airpbrush/compressor kit for $50 at Wal-Mart the other day. I know how to do airbrushing, but curious if anyone thinks this brush is a half way decent one or not. When I did my airbrushing in high school, I used some of the better epuipment the school had, so I really have nothing to compare it to. Also, I'm thinking that I'll probably start out on some Monogram kits (F14, F15, AH-64) and maybe some Gundam kits. Thanks for the info, any more tips are appreciated!!
  2. So when are you people going to make an online networked video game for all these models?
  3. There is a program available (although I'm not sure where you would get it) that offers a free trial version that allows you to open and scan a media file and it will list exactly what codec is needed. Then, I would suggest that you get the Nimo Codec Pack (off the P2P networks) and only install the one you need. If you have too many codecs installed, your media players will get all messed up (i.e. screens will freeze, sound will be off, choppy pictures, etc).
  4. I've been toying with the idea of getting back into model building, but this time, dammit, I want to do it right. Last time I built a model, I think it was a '71 Hemi Cuda, and it was over 8 years ago that I put it together. I think the Hasegawa models are going to be a bit too hard for me to get back into the art, but I need to kinda figure out of this hobby is going to be too expensive for me. Need some ideas on how much you people spend on modeling and what kind of equipment is needed. Any help you can give is appreciated.
  5. I think my son was 2 when we got him his first Transformer. Now I think he has around 5 or 6. Keeps him away from the Macross stuff I have so it's all good. Now that I think about it, the more that I see the new Alternators (Binaltech) figures, I get that long lost itch to buy Transformers again...
  6. Oh CRAP! Now that means that I would have to pay someone to paint the damn thing for me (I suck at painting!). Wonder how much THAT will cost...
  7. I'm not really familiar with this type of kit, so could someone please give me an example of how this thing is to be completed? Is like a toy we put together ourselves? Do we need to paint it? Is it like a high end model? I'm kind border lined right now as to if I want one or not, so don't confirm me on the list. I just need to know more about it.
  8. My kid just loves my 1/48's and is always trying to get at them, so I decided to buy him a Transformers Go-Bot (as seen below). I was quite impressed with how the transformation is very close to what the valks are (more like the 1/55's), and it even has a GERWALK mode as well. The chest and nosecone fold down and the head comes up through the middle just like a valk.
  9. Talk about FUGLY!! Forget Super Deformed, this is SEVERELY Deformed.
  10. Just so you guys know, I'm still collecting all the information from this. I just haven't been able to devote any time to getting new maps up. What I need to know, is what is going to happen to all of this information when it's collected? Are S&G interested in doing anything with this? Posting it somewhere? Pinning it? Or is it just going to reside on my computer?
  11. I put the Yamato stickers on both of my 1/48's and only two of the really, really small ones are starting to curl (and I think they are on a part with a severe roundness). I did manage to cut off the excess sticker mass and got them down to a good size. One thing that you should do if you are going to use the Yamato stickers, is take a dull pointy object and "emboss" them into the groves of the particular area that you are placing them on.
  12. A while back I remember a VF-22S model that was transformable just like a toy. That's about the closest you're going to get to a toy but the prices are terrible for one of those puppies. And to think I could have bought it for $15.00 long ago...
  13. Any reason why they didn't make this figure fully articulated? Wouldn't it have made more sense to do that so you could place the figure inside the toy as well as pose it in front of it if you wanted to?
  14. I hope you put on a bullet proof vest before posting this. Not too many people here take kindly to anti-Yamato/anti-1/48 topics. Your opinion is your own, so I'm not flaming you, but don't be shocked if someone else does.
  15. Trust me, I know the feeling. Just wait until your kid is 3. Hell on two feet!
  16. Hey guys, again I'm sorry about the map not being up like I promised. We recently had a death in the family, so things were a little crazy around here. In fact, I have an 8 hour road trip tonight to pay my respects. I'll see what I can get done on Sunday night.
  17. A 1/64 scale Yamato YF-19 made in 1996? Sounds like a bunch of religion to me...
  18. Hate to burst your bubbles, but what if that is only a down payment on a pre order? I mean, what if you need to put down 50% just to stake your name to it? That would mean that it's more like $254.00. In either case, the design still doesn't look very appealing and I will most likely pass this one up.
  19. EXO, I already told you that I could ink it for you! But did you send it to me? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Nice color job, though.
  20. Update coming this weekend. Got some new faces on here but seems like it's kinda low given the fact that there are over 2,000 registered members... Do you think this would be enough to email a pic to S & G to post somewhere?
  21. Looks like she's mooning people.
  22. Here's a better view of what I was talking about with the little nubs for the backpack. After you do this, the FAST Pack part will fit and you won't have that gap to look at anymore.
  23. To hell with cost cutting! If I'm willing to pay over $125.00 for a good looking 1/48 VF-1, who's to say that I'm not going to pay that much for a 1/48 VF-0 of the same quality as the second releases? I know the VF-0 (as well as the YF-19) would be bigger than a VF-1, but you're not really even getting that much more of a toy. Confused? These toys are HOLLOW inside the legs, arms, chest area, backpack. I can see there being a cost issue of these things were SOLID plastic, but come on! It wouldn't cost them anymore money to make a VF-0 in a matching scale to anything that has already come out. But then again, the Monster would be a pain in the ass to afford in even a 1/72 scale.
  24. There isn't a choice for what I think af Yamato's quality. It seems as though when the first 1/72's came out, they were pretty cool looking and I think everyone was just happy that we were getting something new from the Macross universe. The VF-11B still is my favorite in the 1/72 series since the 19A didn't really look right, and the 21 was just plain old ugly in my eyes. However, I was pleased that they were making the stuff. Enter the 1/60's. I was very impressed when the initial review was posted on this site about this toy. I guess I didn't realize how much removing the legs and lack of stability with this line would take away from the enjoyment of having them. But I still bought the 1S, 1A Hikaru and 1A Max, just so I could have them. Now enter the 1/48's. This was a wet dream come true! Granted there were a lof of QC issues with this line, most of them were barley noticable when they were posed in certain ways. They have fixed the QC issues with the 1/48's and I am completely happy with this line. Now they are making the VF-0, which almost seems like a few steps backwards as far as quality of design. It seems as though they pushed this one through to get it on the market in a hurry. I fear that this VF will become to 1/100's what the YF-19 became to the 1/72's. The Monster is one that I am only mildly impressed with at this point. I'll wait for a few opinions from people that matter before I make a decision to buy one. As of right now, I'm more interested in learning how to make one from Legos. I will not be collecting any more 1/60' or 1/72's unless they make a drastic change to the looks and transformation, or I can get them for dirt cheap. The 1/48 seem like the highest point Yamato has reached thus far, but I hope it doesn't stop with that line.
