  1. From that screenshot alone, does it say "SEXY" ?
  2. Hidden sex messages in Macross?! Just more evidence of Disney ripping off ideas from anime .
  3. Dagnabit! Y'know, considering the nature of the show, I don't want to speculate any further as to what a "Sparkling" attack might consist of.
  4. If this is the same show you reviewed a while back, my guess is nosehair.
  5. I think just a little over two years. I still remember Joke Machine helping me out with my JM (thanks again!). Before I posted, I just cruised the toy and magazine sections without even knowing about the forums until I "clicked on the fish". Now caught in a deluge of kits, toys, and books that I don't have time for, I ask myself: "Why, oh why did I click on that fish?" DAMN YOU CURSED FISH HEAD! AAAAAAAAArgh!
  6. Big time. Here's the cover page, AF:
  7. Title: INNOCENCE Copyright: 2003 Size: 13.5 x 10.25 x 0.5 in Pages: 120 Cover Price: ¥3400 ISBN: 4-04-853663-X On a whim, I picked up my copy of INNOCENCE from San Jose's anime mainstay, Nikaku Animart, for $46. Calling it a book would be kind of a stretch since there's hardly any text at all. Covering works from 1994 through 2003, INNOCENCE is a collection of over 180 illustrations by the perennial anime artist, Haruhiko Mikimoto. The bulk of the book consists of beautifully illustrated pictures of young girls and Mikimoto's mastery of watercolors and pastels shows in each one. Familiar faces from Gundam, Gunbuster, Orguss, and the Record of Lodoss War can be found (Deedlit by Mikimoto is really nice). The Macross section is relatively big with some rarely seen drawings. By comparing older drawings of Minmay from his older books to the ones found in INNOCENCE, one can really see how much Mikimoto's renditions have changed, yet still retain the same style. The theme of innocence rings true through the whole collection, there's nothing really racy or ecchi about this book making it great for any coffee table. If you want to see why Haruhiko Mikimoto has remained such a big name within the anime industry, be sure to pick this book up when hits comic book shops this spring. Page sample:
  8. The pic you saw may have used the old HCM valks as a reference. HCMs have one hook that swings out from each rear wheel bay. Back on subject, that VF-0 doesn't look half bad! Which technique did you use for the panel lines, Ancalagon?
  9. 13 eps for $30 isn't a bad price at all, but there's something about this show that puts me to sleep everytime. The repetitive sequences, the repeated sound effects and the pauses just add up to a big snore fest for me. BTW, if you want to check a far grittier version of this story, track down an old trade of Frank Miller's RONIN. Classic Miller stuff.
  10. It looking real slick so far, fulcy. Ever consider going full bore into a 1/48 GPB set?
  11. I've been thinking of giving a valk the classic 1960's "Wild Weasel" look. I've got a lot of kit parts that I need to find a use for. Now if I can only find the time...
  12. Time to bust out the ol' Top Gun soundtrack, it's a MW sing-along! Going to the forums ready to bitch and mo-an Finally got a valkyrie Just needed a student lo-an Highway to the Danger Zone! Ride into the Danger Zone! Coming from the package, I broke off her wings tonight. I'm gonna make a thread, Cuz QC sure ain't ri-ight. Highway to the Danger Zone! It'll take me Right into the Danger Zone! This valkyrie really sucks The nose looks a really big, white dildo I don't know what I should do Maybe Yammies were not the way to go-ooo... (insert cheesy guitar) Finally got some feedback It's good to know I'm not alo-one. Now I know for sure Where to go to piss and mo-oan. Highway to the Danger Zone! Gonna take you Right into the Danger Zone! Highway to the Danger Zone! 1/48s rock! Thank you Cleveland!! *my apologies to any Kenny Loggins fans*
  13. When I first saw the movie, the story seemed open with no clear delineations-was it a time paradox story? Was it just a delusion of some kid who skipped his medication? Or was it just weird for the sake of being weird like Twin Peaks or Lost Highway? Either way, I thought the movie was cool enough to warrant a $10 DVD purchase (with a great soundtrack to boot). After watching it one more time and going through the extras, the movie seemed more like a hero story with a bit of divine intervention. Watching the extras pretty much ended all the squablling with my friends. Anyways, for only $10, the movie's definitely worth it.
  14. Nice designs, DA! My vote goes to either DA's v3 or v4. I prefer Mikimoto's work over the mecha, so the rest can go.
  15. Yup, nothing wrong with the 60s. I just wish Yamato went through with the upgrade parts.
  16. Heh, it reminds of one of the kidde droids in Batteries not Included. Kawaii!
  17. For future submissions, to whom should we send our pictures, G?
  18. Sweet idea, but like EXO pointed out, can JMs get some love too?
  19. I too am not a fan of the Minmay Guard scheme, but still...HOT DAMN! Your decals have reached the level of uber-sweet, Devin.
  20. The packs looks fantastic, I'm really digging the inner detail.
  21. No one? Ok, the plane Arisa was flying was a Russian Flanker (Su-27, Su-35). Next: Which unique anime has an homage to South Park?
  22. Nope, Airbats was produced by Studio Fantasia (A-ko the Versus, Gunbuster), co-produced by Gainax, and character designs were by Yuji Moriyama (Project A-Ko, Agent Aika, Maison Ikkoku). Kenichi Sonoda did the designs for Riding Bean and Gunsmith Cats.
  23. Sorry Sean , I was stumped on all the music questions as well. Ok, in 801 T.T.S. Airbats, what plane was Arisa flying in Isurugi's dream sequence? (I'm not being variant picky, as long as the answer is close enough)
  24. What is Sanctuary? I know there was a live-action version of this manga title, but I didn't know there was anime. I gotta track this down.
