Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
wolfx replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It had me at episode 1, with the RPG game parody bit. ROFLMAO! The rest was just plain cool and funny. -
This show rocked. I believe I was about 8-9 then when it showed. Almost 20 years down the road, I searched it up the internet and found out it got alot of flak from parents for depicting war and all that during the politically correct cartoons revolution. Under pressure and low ratings towards the end of season 1, they had to scrap the show. Pity. I think I cried when Power was in his ship flying off to safety as he reminisced the last Christmas he had with Pilot after the base exploded. I think that and Optimus Prime dying in the movie was my most traumatic childhood experiences

Looks awesome!

Thanks for the feedback, Jenius. I was playing around with my shadow fighter yesterday. It wasn't as crappy as most ppl make it to be. To me it was a pretty alright toy.....not worth the uber price but alright. I guess i'll say what i don't like about it 1st since its easier to define. 1.) Arched back....buggerit....i can't stand to look at it in fighter mode. It looks too weird. The lower part of the nose cone's angle is off making the nose look like its pointing upwards. Should have made it symmetric to the top. But this maybe due to wrong transformation out of the box. I'll try transforming it again to night and see what happens. 2.) Plastics....wth...is this made from a plastic tree like gundam kits? I see white marks where i assume it was cut out of plastic trees. At least paint it back over them for cryin out loud. 3.) Joints....overall joints on the figure were so-so but the worse one I thought were the hands! The shoulder joints are weak...heck...i'm not sure what's keeping it together. Pulling the arms out of shoulders was a nightmare. I swear I can see the plastic straining when I pulled the damn thing out, thinking I would snap it in half after applying so much force to get it to dislodge from the shoulder in fighter mode. As for knee joints, the knees don't bend back much, so battloid can't crouch. 4.) Instructions, for the slightly intelligence impaired. I couldn't find out how to hold the gun. They even missed out on the "butt" compartment. I digged the damn thing with my fingers...wouldn't budge so i thought it wouldn't move and decided to rotate the torso from guardian to battloid mode. Big mistake. The sensor housing came off with stress marks on the flimsy joint. Thankfully nothing broken. I then used a small screw driver to pry the butt compartment open later. Now it opens up with ease. I saw some pictures back in this thread of fully stickered Shadows. They look great! Can't wait to sticker mine up later.

Hi guys....i got my 1st Alpha which happens to be a shadow fighter. Its serial number is 1120 out of 15000. I am annoyed at the arching back in fighter mode and tilted nosecone. Bah. But someone please tell me...how does this damn thing hold its gun? Am i missing its handle or something cause i can't find any possible way for its claws to grab the gun in any way. EDIT: Silly me....found out the claws can be pulled forwards a little to accomodate the gun to be put over the claws. Manual skipped a step which was to open the sensor housing....though it has not sensor. I kinda snapped it open and its not broken but the hinge has stress marks on it now....hard to budge open.

You have GOT to be kidding. "Equivalent Trade," or whatever your translation of choice calls it, is one of the fundamental premises of the show. 324901 Yeah. And with the introduction of the black gate, that whole premise is shot to hell. What "Touka Kouka"? (Equivalent Trade) SPOILERS We're just feeding off the dead people from another realm. This is the truth about Alchemy. To be fair, with the introduction of the black gate, everything was a big blur to me. It felt like the whole Touka Kouka premise was shot to hell when they revealed the truth of Alchemy. I gotta rewatch the last few episodes but can't be stuffed. Probably go read the manga now.

Pretty good. It provided closure for the series in a way that ended one story but opened the door for another to continue on (ie, the movie). 324661 Nah...i felt the whole gate thing and "Equivalent Trade" to be rather kooky and last minute.

Ghost in the Shell's Motoko action figure
wolfx replied to aaajin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wonder if they'll make a "naked stealth" variant. -
They're 2 different kits, and its not paratrooping. Its actually Reactive Armour, which looks like kevlar vests for the mecha. Thanks for the tip though. Got myself a clear green tamiya paint for perhaps 1 or 2 measly amounts of plastic.

Well due to lack of response, I got the Ingram 2 anyway and i was disappointed that it didn't have the decals to allow me to change it to unit 1. The "2" was also sculpted into the head antennae....so i guess that's that. Question to the modelling folks, i realise the visors are moulded in transparent plastic. Why didn't they just mould it in their colors is beyond me. So I wanna paint it green, and let it still be transparent, how do I do it?

He does a good impersonation of David Haytes...

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!!!

What else would be an example of this "soft" pvc? Is it the type of stiff plastic that you can easily mark up with a fingernail? I have a very old, 4" Tall 1/200 Gundam F-91 from the early 90's. It's stiff, shiny plastic, but the shoulder fins were definately the sort of plastic I could snap or mark up. Are these made entirely of this material? 323408 Its the stuff that you can bend in hot temperatures. Its the same stuff most gashapon are made off, but abit more in density. I personally have no problem with the Deep Striker despite being in a hot tropical country, but wouldn't be surprised if it really does bend. But its easily correctable, though not permanent. Just dip the droopy part in hot water, and then bend it back to shape, and dip it back in cold water.

Thanks for the pics, Graham. Man this rocks! The turbine that split into 2 always bugged me with the original 1/48 design. Glad they fixed it here in the VF-0S, and in the vision that I thought it should be as well! Overall great sculpt, cept i'm bothered with the ugly seam lines that run the middle of the legs, and overly "fat" air vent/thighs.
-
i'd say just get it mate. I wasn't disappointed. I think the Gundam Sentinel line for the GFF were the best in quality and design. I absolutely love my EX-S Task force Alpha and Deep Striker. I'm having some trouble finding a good display space for the deep striker, as some of you might know it can't really fit into the DETOLF, big cannon and all.

Hey guppy, i realise you got that matchbox control car to go with the patlabor as well. Was planning to get one from HLJ too. Ok so people i plan to get the Ingram 2, with the LED system. http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN907022 According to the picture you can change the face masks and it seems without the mask it looks about the same thing as the Ingram 1. Is this true? If so, do they also include decals for the Ingram 1?
-
Thanks for the links. Sweet as.....i want them all now. No Ingram 1 reissued yet i think. The old 1/144 Bandai kit's Ingrams used to have the conversion parts to change between Ingram 1 and 2. These don't seem to be the case?
-
There seems to be reissues of the once rare Bandai Patlabor MG kits. I am planning to get an Ingram or 2, and the one with the LED system looks kinda interesting. What do the modellers have to say about the kit? I'll try to paint up this kit (without an air brush cuz i dun have one) but overall how's the poseability and quality of the kit? I really liked Patlabor and would like to own an Ingram. Comments?

Sorry. Got it off 2chan. So know nuts about it.
