  1. Because why not? Pilots were getting into hand-to-hand combat situations. Why not have a knife? Seeing that later VFs incorporated a combat knife, a bayonet wasn't a bad idea. VF-11s did have wing hardpoints. They just didn't show it on-screen that much.
  2. This is suppose to be a 3-part 60th anniversary special with the next 2 episodes airing over the next 2 Saturdays. "You've re-decorated. I don't like it."
  3. In most cases, yes. The SV-51 was unique with its LiftSystem™ fan jets. But it lacks auxiliary thrusters that other VFs had. And if the legs provide VTOL capabilities and the fan jet is useless in space (the SV-51 was designed from the get-go to be use in atmosphere), then the fan jet is unnecessary.
  4. Funny that you mention that cuz here's a quote from the Vanity Fair article: I can see Filoni is trying to flesh out things post-Empire, but he's also holding back (hence, I'm being underwhelmed by the shows we have). The shows should come to some narrative ending each season, otherwise we get a "That's it????"-kind of ending. Like with Ashoka. I do appreciate Filoni is trying to not repeat sequels cookie cutter plots that they were.
  5. Eclipse? Or Freedom? Eclipse is a manga series which is also currently on the Youtube channel. Freedom is a movie coming out early 2024. There's no new TV series for Seed in production.
  6. It's hearsay and conjecture based on text in the Master File books and some materials for the YF-29. As mentioned, we don't have any real data nor evidence to back up any of it. Is any of it actually canon? 🤷‍♂️ As @sketchley has indicated, people may be mis-interpreting the YF-24 destructive capabilities in terms of firepower when its power may be in its engine/airframe performance and maneuverability. But since we don't have any documented evidence of that either...🤷‍♂️
  7. I don't think he has a choice about the direction KK put the franchise on. She's still in charge, unfortunately. I am somewhat glad they put him in charge, but the stuff coming out from his neck of the woods has been... underwhelming of late. And I don't know how much patience the suits will have with him if he doesn't bring the numbers up (and it's not helping that streaming subscription prices keep going up making it less attractive to continue).
  8. Speaking of OLEDs... Longevity And Burn-In Investigation 10-Month Results (Rtings.com) Take away is, there's still more testing and more improvements needed on OLEDs.
  9. If you think you will end up using this mostly for work, then I would go with the multi-monitor setup. What configuration you want will depend on if you decide to keep those old monitors around or how many you want to keep. There's no rule book. It just depends on your space and workflow.
  10. It would be best to look at your workflow. For ergonomics, you'll want your main monitor front&center or in a direct-eye-level. Ultra-wides are good if you need to look at a lot of information at one time without horizontal scrolling. That why content creators and Excel users like that form factor; there's little, if any, horizontal scrolling (or vertical if you are placing it in the vertical orientation). It sounds like you're thinking of the sideways-T configuration. I think it would help us to know what your usage is. That could help us recommend a monitor configuration.
  11. Oh the infamous "make Destroids better"-thread. Might as well just use the Cheyenne II. It's a ADR-spec that is also an MBR. The old Tomahawk, Phalanx and Defender all used the same legs but with different stuff added on. All 3 are walking turrets. And their weapons are already noted as interchangeable. There's no evidence EX-Gears actually improved pilot aiming. Destroids already use a sophisticated FCS with AI support and radar with excellent target tracking. Destroids aren't THAT big so they don't have THAT big of a reactor to power everything. Pin-point barrier and ECA use power dedicated to powering weapons which have significantly more firepower than most VFs.
  12. The one about UNIT has been floating around for a while since Davies was announced to be coming back. Any announcement of spinoffs with the Mouse-money coming in, I'd say, is too early. With studios looking at belt tightening on streaming shows, they will likely take a wait-&-see. If Who does well on Disney+, they may consider it.
  13. Steam Deck OLED silent announcement: https://www.steamdeck.com/en/oled There are some small spec bumps. They're touting better efficiency thanks to moving to a 6nm APU along with better battery life, Wi-fi 6E, slightly more screen real estate (7" to 7.4"). Performance should be on-par with the current Steam Deck but should last users longer than the original model. Here's the specs for the base model: 512GB OLED 512GB NVMe SSD 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display 7.4" Diagonal display size 6 nm APU Wi-Fi 6E 50Whr battery; 3-12 hrs of gameplay (content dependent) 45W Power supply with 2.5m cable Carrying case Steam profile bundle On sale Nov 16, starting at $549. Valve did say they are working on a next gen Steam Deck/ Steam Deck 2 but that's still a few years away.
  14. Doesn't look like it. Just taken up and down. It likely needs some more details hammered out behind-the-scenes so they stuck it in a "preview"-mode.
  15. Saw this article this morning. Consumers are paying more than ever for streaming TV each month and analysts say there’s no reason for the companies to stop raising prices (Yahoo Finance)
  16. Considering a VF's primary weapons are either located or used by the limbs, having detaching limbs adds no benefit if your only only way to use your armaments is blown off/rendered ineffective. Standard doctrine always calls for aiming for center mass since it's the biggest target and has the greatest chance of making sure your opponent doesn't stay combat effective. Aiming for limbs or headshots are acts of luck and chance. If I hit a wing or something, that's nice but I'm still aiming for the main fuselage of the aircraft since that's where the engines, avionics, etc. are. Oh you're talking about battroid mode? Might as well paint a target on the main body since that's where the pilot is and happens to be the biggest target of a Battroid VF.
  17. That's because we locked it to let things cool off back then but forgot to reopen it. It's back open now.
  18. Unfortunately, the Empress will not let others kill her baby she was supposed to care for. I would like nothing more than to take an eraser to the sequels and wipe them away. But the Empress refuses.
  19. Just making a note that we've warned him several times now. And should he start his long-winded piss&moan session like he has for other shows, he's got no one to blame for watching the show but himself.
  20. Yes, the quid-pro-quo can be annoying, but what's a Mandalorian to do? He's the only active Jedi out there. There aren't many left out there who would pick up the phone. What @Mog said. You'll want to watch the Mandalore episodes of Clone Wars and Rebels before you continue cuz if you want to understand the "why", it will be explained in those shows. Gideon already mentions part of the "why" behind why Bo Katan will not just accept the Darksaber this time around. And you should do so before you start Season 3.
