  1. MOD WARNING This thread is entering politics-territory for the most insignificant reasons. Either shut it down or I lock and ban a bunch of you.
  2. Now that this show is done... It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. It's sitting down there with Boba Fett. Deborah Chow did a good job telling the story, visually. I didn't have a problem with the camera work. Actors? Fine. No issue there. Writing.....Oh FFS. I liked the 1st episode. I kinda liked Ep 2 but parts were annoying me. Ep 3, 4, 5 were bleh. I liked the last episode. Like everything in between was....frustrating. Breaking down each episode, I like certain story pieces in each episode, but then the stuff in between started to annoy me. Muddled execution? Yes. Looking at the writers for this I can see a trend: Ep 1: Story by : Stuart Beattie and Hossein Amini, Teleplay by: Joby Harold and Hossein Amini and Stuart Beattie Ep 2: Story by : Stuart Beattie and Hossein Amini, Teleplay by: Joby Harold Ep 3: Joby Harold & Hannah Friedman and Hossein Amini and Stuart Beattie Ep 4: Joby Harold & Hannah Friedman Ep 5: Joby Harold & Andrew Stanton Ep 6: Story by : Stuart Beattie and Joby Harold & Andrew Stanton, Teleplay by: Joby Harold & Andrew Stanton and Hossein Amini Like a certain something in the execution...🤨🤔 I would have preferred Obi-wan to have faked a death, at least to the Empire, to get some heat off of him. Vader would have seen through it but at least to the greater universe, he's dead. Having Palps tell Vader to "Let it go" felt a little underwhelming. Though, Vader is now 0-2 so I even admit, his odds are not in his favor now. Production, FX, VFX...I already addressed it earlier. Inquisitor make up was absolute garbage. Boba Fett did a great job with make-up and VFX. Jennifer Beals still looks hot, even with Twi'lek makeup. And the Pike Syndicate. That was done really well. Boba Fett riding a rancor looked awesome but WTF happened in Obi-Wan? Flashback with original actors? Makeup is not enough. You have de-age them with CGI or it doesn't look right. Argh.... Use of night-time fights...argh...It tells me you are trying to hide something which could be done with CGI and good VFX. Don't be lazy. Characters? Mostly fine. Except for 3rd Sister/Reva. She should have died or come off more injured coming out of the confrontation on the Lars farmstead. For frak's sake, she got stabbed pretty good and she's deflecting with some degree of accuracy? Gimme a break... I liked Leia but the character kinda dragged on as the show progressed...kinda like the writing... Okay Andor...no Jedi/Sith. Let's see how you turn out.
  3. Palpatine plays the long game and is opportunistic. Yes, in the end, all that matters is his endgame and he'll pull as many threads as he can until he gets a full bundle of yarn.
  4. Considering it was posted on Tamashii, it’s likely a new toy line. Mix of Hi-metal an DX Chogokin perhaps?
  5. Who the heck is doing the VFX for these Star Wars shows? They screwed up Hamill in The Mandalorian, only to fix him Boba Fett. Now they screwed up Hayden. Conventional makeup only hides sooooo much. Which is funny. Mcgregor actually had to wear a wig and fake beard when they did reshoots for AOTC. He grew the mullet and beard to film principal for AOTC then had to cut it all off and film principal for Black Hawk Down, then he went back to do the reshoots on AOTC sporting the standard military haircut.
  6. Still won't comment on story since we still have another week of this. Production values I will address. If you're gonna do flashback scenes with the original actors, DE-AGE their faces. I can see the lines on Hayden's face, not to mention his more rounded face compared to 20-something Hayden. Jeez, if some keyboard warrior can spend 2 housr to de-age someone, you guys who do this for 8-hours a day and get paid to do it can too.
  7. If you're running an Asus router, you can try an AI Mesh wi-fi setup with a compatible Asus router and reuse the old router. I tried it but found it to be unstable and went with a conventional extender/repeater config. Your mileage may vary. Another issue was because I was using was the wi-fi backhaul instead of an ethernet backhaul, my AI Mesh wifi speeds were on par with extender/repeater-config speeds (which means my wi-fi speeds were cut in half when connected to the node). My repeater/AI mesh speeds are fine for WFH and even 4k steaming but having stability is more important, especially on meeting calls. As for cable modems, the Motorola MB8611, Arris Surfboard S33 or the Netgear Nighthawk CM1200 should all work. However, if you are not planning on breaking 1Gb speeds, I'd save money and drop down to a Motorola MB8600 or Arris SB8200.
  8. I'm referring to this part of the article: There's no need rely on supplemental material (which I also hate) if it's showed on screen, which it is. It's easy to blame the writers, but if the audience didn't understand the repetitive nature of the narrative (three times they showed work, train ride home, get on his "horse" and go home, wash-rinse-repeat with only minor variations), that's the fault of the audience.
  9. As much as it is easy to blame the writers for this, I'm blaming the audience for that one point. There is a narrative beat showing Obi-wan's day 3 times in one episode. Did the audience not see his day was wash-rinse-repeat?
  10. Yes, this argument has gotten stupid. How about you kids stop and come back after this show has finished in 3 weeks. Or do I have to boot you kids.
  11. Conceptually, I fine with what they're trying to doing. Beaten-down hero needs to go out and save his former friend's children. How it's doing it is bugging me, especially the Inquisitors. Sometimes less is more. We still have 3 more weeks so I'll hold further comments until we're done but so far, this is what's bothering me.
  12. On the subject of the Inquisitors, I'm not happy with Fifth Brother's look now that I've seen it in motion. I thought it would be better on motion vs stills but it's not working for me. They should have made prosthetics for Mr. Kang (more pronounced brow, different color around the eyes to get a more "mask look"). I'm fine with changing the skin tone to white/ivory since grey on black probably doesn't look good on film but the lines on the face do no stand out enough and he needs more of a scowling look. Edit: More I think about it, the less I'm agreeing with the choices from the production standpoint on the Inquisitors' makeup. Facial lines on the boys (5th Bro & GI) should have been more defined. Any facial or head features are just getting lost under the face paint.
  13. https://www.cinemablend.com/star-wars/jon-favreau-confirms-hes-working-on-the-mandalorian-season-4-while-opening-up-about-star-wars-crossover-opportunities Part of me would prefer there to be not THAT much overlap between shows. It gives a less "It's a small world"-vibe by not having things cross.
  14. Bail likely knew the importance of the "radio-silence"-rule. Any comm traffic to Obi-wan or Yoda could be traced. Whether or not Bail knew Vader was alive was inconsequential to keeping the twins safe. Heck, the less Bail saw of Vader, the better. The running theory is Vader only came out when needed. His appearance was more mythical with the Inquisitors doing most of the hunting while Vader only came out against the tougher Jedi or when they failed. The Imperial Army only saw him when they needed "motivation" or a matters of importance to Vader or the Emperor. I would imagine Vader spent more time in the Bacta tank than we thought, especially during the first years after ROTS. The surviving Jedi went to ground after Order 66. Cal Kestis (Junk guild scavanger), Obi-wan (meat processing plant), Kanan Jarrus (cargo hauling/smuggling), they all likely took meaningless jobs and kept a low-profile. Forged chain-codes, no Holonet presence, no name to property, etc.
  15. Considering Obi-Wan and Boba Fett both filmed in late 2020 and location filming was..heavily restricted. I think they made good with what they had. Obi-Wan doesn't need expansive landscape shots for a guy who's supposed to be maintaining a low profile. Spoilerish comments on Ep 1&2
  16. Bumping the thread since the Bad Batch panel will be on Sunday, May 29 and Season 2 trailer will likely be posted afterwards.
