Oh, they definitely will. They competed mercilessly over MP-scale offerings, until the combiners were the only Sunbow characters that remained; they're competing mercilessly over Legends-scale offerings, until the combiners are the only Sunbow characters that remain; they'll have to focus next on figures that complement our WFC/SS86 collections, 'cause that's where the biggest demand is now. That's why I've held off on weaker Hasbro offerings like Siege Astrotrain, Earthrise Arcee or Kingdom Galvatron; better 3P offerings at that scale are imminent, I'm sure.- 17379 replies

I'm calling these done. It's consistently solid in the anime. I used a layer of PVA glue. It has a flat surface with some elasticity, but not enough to damage the paint. ๐ The mechanical approach I'd come up with for repositioning the biover blasters failed to provide the necessary clearance, and thus scratched up the paintwork. I scrapped that mechanism, and instead went with a much simpler solution.

Fabulous work, as always, but I'm particularly impressed by this interior detailing.

MOSCATO HOBBY MODELLING CONTEST!!
tekering replied to captain america's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Congratulations on launching your inaugural contest! ๐ฅณ Just a few questions for clarification, Cap'n: Would a subject (or diorama) photographed against a real sky background be acceptable? Could said diorama include models (or toys) that weren't Moscato products? I imagine something like this is out of the question, then...? How about, say, a pose that required the support of a stand? Could the stand be edited out of the photograph(s)? How about extortion, kidnapping, or blackmail...? ๐ -
You can only watch one movie for the rest of your life........
tekering replied to sqidd's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I tend to approach these "desert island" questions practically. Only one movie? Shoah. It's not only considered "the greatest documentary about contemporary history ever made," it's also 9 and-a-half hours long. ๐ -
The "Perfect Soldier" BD box set was released over six months ago, and the show looks SO much better in proper HD: ...and yet ADV/Sentai/Maiden Japan is still hawking their SD upscales. ๐คจ

Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
tekering replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Note that, since Hot Toys based their Predator figures on standard male bodies, they're not actually 1:6 scale. Given the actual height of Kevin Peter Hall (2.18m), Ian Whyte (2.16m) or Brian A. Prince (2.08m), the Predator figures should be considerably taller. Note Robert Patrick is only 1.83m tall: The Hot Toys T-1000 is an accurate 1:6 scale, but the Predators definitely aren't. As it stands (or rather, as they stand), they're barely 1:7 scale... ...and as somebody who likes their bad guys larger-than-life as it is, you should probably be looking for smaller-scale human "prey" to display them with. -
A "big" reference to the animated series, too... ...and I particularly appreciated Boimler's use of "insurrect" as a verb. ๐

Is that a subtle jungle camo paint scheme I see, or just really bad compression artifacts? Either way, it's a lousy camera. ๐ I'd recommend the XL Reliant: That also describes the navigational deflector on the Ambassador-class Enterprise (as previously discussed in this thread).

And yet, you kept the olive drab color on the flat deck portion in the center. That's what I was talking about before; creative decisions like that make your work distinct and memorable. No, the blasters can't be glued down, or you won't be able to move them in and out of firing position. See, when the Biovers are deployed, the blasters are retracted: ...and they remain that way pretty consistently in flight. This position mirrors their placement in this animation model sheet: ...which places them about here on Cap's model. However, in firing position, they're extended forward considerably... ...as this piece of line art depicts: ...which therefore places them up here on the model. So, in order to maintain fidelity with the source material, you have to be able to move them forward and back. It was my failure of engineering that led to the damage, since the drum at the base of the control yoke needs to be moved out of the way before the blasters can be repositioned... Live and learn, I guess. Not if you understand the function of adjectival modifiers in English: The purpose of a "house painter" is to paint houses. The purpose of a "cockroach exterminator" is to exterminate cockroaches. The purpose of a "Bioroid Terminator" would be to terminate Bioroids. If that was the intent, Matchbox should've called them "Terminator Bioroids." Obviously Matchbox wasn't clear on how Robotech defined Bioroids either, though. Really, the only way "Bioroid Terminator" makes sense is if Matchbox assumed "bioroid" meant malfunctioning clones... which seems unlikely. What seems far more likely is that they just didn't give a damn. ๐คจ

I believe I mentioned unforseen setbacks earlier... It's gonna take me a week to strip, sand and repaint the primer, surfacer, base color, primary color, highlight color, and topcoat layers again. ๐ฉ Official publications identify them as "combat armor worn by Zor soldiers." I don't think they were originally designed to terminate Bioroids, however. I mean, why would you want your soldiers to take out your own mecha? ๐คจ Seriously, how could a guy in body armor even terminate a Bioroid...? What does that even mean? The Robotech nomenclature is as nonsensical as calling organically-grown clones "androids."
