Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

Oh, wow. I was so taken aback by the absent legs, I hadn't even noticed those attachment points. Yes, that's precisely where the Tread would connect with the Legioss... in Armo-Fighter mode, at least. I don't know what Sentinel thinks they're doing, but they're completely ignoring the 35-year legacy of Mospeada toys. The fighter mode is supposed to have the legs hanging off the back, not tucked in like the animation design... and you're supposed to provide a lousy sticker sheet, not print tampographed details on the toy. And what's with the navigation lights on the wings? You don't paint details like that on a Legioss toy. Most insulting of all, it looks like they've engineered the fighter with built-in attachment points for a Tread, which is totally against the spirit of the Legioss design. Have they no respect for tradition? The Tread is supposed to be an awkwardly-designed afterthought, with no secure way of connecting it to the Legioss. How arrogant and presumptuous they must be to plan these things out in advance. Who do they think they are, Bandai?

Nice photoshopped Jonathan Wolff, Cap'n.

So the Robotech license prevents BBTS from selling Macross toys, but Mospeada toys are okay?
-
If Amazon bought up all of Bandai's stock, they wouldn't have sold out in five minutes... But regardless, Bandai is seriously underestimating demand.

Correction: Amazon’s stock was listed TWO hours and 35 minutes after...

Just get 'em sent to me, RavenHawk. I'd be happy to ship them to you at cost, just so I'd have a chance to look at them first.- 818 replies

It's Eaglemoss. They take great pains to ensure that nothing they produce is ever to scale with anything else they produce. I've got five different starship displays, at five different scales, and I'm still stuck with ships that won't scale properly anywhere...

Definitely not. Thankfully, it looks very easy to remove. I'm not sure. Let me consult with my dog on that one.

We've just addressed the same question here.

I used to be an exterior home painter, and the latex brands we used came in four types of finish: Gloss, Semi-gloss, Satin (Eggshell), or Matte (Flat). The Tamiya and Mr. Hobby paints I use come in 光沢 or つやあり (gloss), 半光沢 (semi-gloss), 3/4つや消し (3/4 flat), or つや消し (matte). So I suppose the 3/4 flat could be called a "satin" finish. Yeah, same with Wave's model kit. Basically just a movie-style flight suit; certainly nothing like the helmet seen in the OAV.

Not "Skynet," but Lazlo Zand... and not "Terminators," just duplicates. "Clones" is equally inaccurate, because it's impossible to clone a hairstyle (or a mustache).* * Of course, the artists and/or writers probably just don't understand how cloning works.

Looks like a late '70s setting to me... but more New York than Chicago. Chicago's the real-world analogue for Gotham City, of course. New York is the basis for Metropolis.

Damn, Lolicon, you're doing it again... Making all our beloved Macross toys look like crap compared to yours. A satin overcoat? Seriously, what model paints come in "satin?"

That yellowing is much too pronounced (and much too widespread) to make it worth the effort. Unless it can be done with chemicals, I don't think that Max is worth salvaging. It's a mess. Better to repaint with a unique color scheme... something like this, maybe?

Okay, so who's the Bowie sound-alike singing a duet with Freddie Mercury? Me too. At first, I was like "Why would I even transform it?" But now... Having a gunpod to wield makes a huge difference.

The Mk. 43 (from Age of Ultron) is the last suit I actually liked. The new suits look too much like a painted bodysuit... ...or a kid in a onesie.

Nope. As always, Lolicon knows what he's talking about. Note the wing alignment on the Wave model kit:

Stick to Japanese modeling materials. Having grown up in Canada with Testers, Humbrol and the like, I can tell you that Mr. Color and Tamiya brand paints are much higher quality (and considerably easier to use) than what's readily available in your neck of the woods... Unless you know your way around an airbrush, spray cans and masking tape is the way to go. This is what I managed to achieve this week, without the aid of an airbrush:

Loki should be taller than Cap. Tom Hiddleston is taller than Chris Evans. In fact, he's taller than everybody! -

As are the Moebius models, that come in 1:72 (too big for HMR, too small for 1:60) or 1:32 (too big for... anything Macross, really). There are smaller die-cast toy versions available, but I wouldn't use "highly detailed" to describe 'em... I think you're SOL, scand.
