  1. 2:54am here in Vancouver Pacific Time also very happy. Almost close to 3:00 so I will test my theory in the next 10 minutes and see if it is available for others over here. Wondering who is winning the ordering race Japan, HK, or the International team?
  2. Whoa - Refreshing for the last 10 minutes. Suddenly Available, 60 - second snipe and confirmed. Refreshed to make sure it is available. 10 seconds Macross World Post. Now Gone again. Total window time is 2 Minutes. Why does AmiAmi keep triggering the orders? For those sniping, watch out for the every 15 minute window. 155am 210am 225am. After watching everyone's posting time it seems like they are slowly adding a few available on a certain time slot. No specific evidence but just a hunch. I guess no one is sleeping over here in North America.
  3. This is the most interesting and funniest thread going on now. We've covered issues such as magic, AI, Top Gun, booty calls, drinking buddies, girlfriend's bestfriend, fanfics, karaoke and who got laid the most. Whenever Basara is mentioned in these forums the best quotes are always made around him. By the way, The flower girl is indeed pure as snow. Like a dew on a leaf - she never goes #1 and she never goes #2.
  4. Both Yamato and Bandai have their strengths and weaknesses. In terms of durability neither company can claim to produce a worry free breakage toy. You really have to be careful when handling their toys like a high priced model. Yamato wins - In terms of quality, ingenuity and accuracy for their Macross toy lines but at a very very high cost. The pilots are better in detail and color. When I started collecting, the cost for a Yammie would be around 150.00 in the 1/48 scale era. Now your looking close to 300.00 for the new releases. Ouch for that cost it doesn't surprise me when we start to nick pick or be a little more demanding for a perfect and flawless valkyrie. Bandai wins - In terms of value for your money when they include extras such as a stand and more importantly it is fully tampo printed - so it is ready to play or display straight out of the box without the hassle of placing sticker decals accurately. Recently their Macross toy lines have started to look quite nice and very close to the linear works. At just about or less than 200.00 your toy is ready to go out of the box with a display stand. In conclusion, neither is better than the other. I would compare Yamato to the Coca Cola the classic and Bandai as Pepsi the next generation. Either way if you have a particularly favorite valkyrie you will have no choice but to go with a particular toy company or just pray and wait for a version 3/renewal release. Just make sure you check up any prone breakage issues so you don't twist instead of turn on your new valkyrie. You can check out Jenius' website www.anymoon.com for his reviews on Yamato and Bandai's Macross toy lines. Cheers
  5. Hey dude, all I stated was the difference of their actions in their own respective planes. I never stated nor mean to imply if one character who kills makes him better than one that does not. Hell I prefer playing Metal Gear than COD. I agree both characters like to do things in their own way because of their personality but what they do defines who they are. Basara is against violence and spreads love through music - Hey that's cool. Isamu shoots down planes so that he can continue making a living through flying - not as noble but it's a job. I'm not posting here to attack Basara. I'm posting to defend that Isamu isn't like Basara. Just because they like to do it their own way doesn't make them the same kind of guys who would hang out at the same kind of pub. Of all the people here Keith - I thought you would understand my intent. Heck you've been doing it for weeks. I don't hate Basara but he's just not my cup of tea kind of guy no matter how logical explanations are thrown out there. The main issue isn't about magic or who saves the universe. In simple terms does Basara jive with you yes or no? For you - A most definite Yes. For others or haters it's a definite No. For me - he has his moments but ultimately no feelings for the man kind of No, My own personal preference in a character Is that okay for you...dude?
  6. Huh? This thread has been very entertaining and controversial simply for a character that isn't a typically likeable or identifiable protagonist. I have my own feelings about Basara and have tried to hold back from posting anything negative. I really admire Keith's determination and loyalty for making a stand for his favorite pilot no matter how many attacks are made at Basara. As for me, I have to put my foot down in regards to the comparison between Isamu and Basara. Isamu is Maverick in the Macross World. If anything, he could very well be the only pilot that could hold his own against Jenius. Basara's also at their level if you think about how he avoids attacks in battroid mode while singing and playing in tune but loses points for not fighting back . Isamu isn't arrogant he's just confident - At times he's childish but he's a badass when he flies. Badasss I say~~~: Who wouldn't want a wingman who can take down a small squadron on his own? He doesn't count kills like Shin nor compete with other squadron members to save face like Hikaru. He lives for the moment between life and death in the sky. He's honest enough to tell a woman he's a horndog and actually gets it. When Isamu whoo hoos - he's expressing his excitement to himself laughing at danger. He doesn't shout to everyone on the battlefield "listen to my whoo hoo!" He's an uncompromising character but he can back it up with skills on the field. Simple minded but honest and that's why I like him. Without knocking on Basara - I'll just say those two pilots are on a different level with each other. It would be an insult for both pilots to be compared to one another. They have different reasons for flying. One pulls the trigger while the other pulls strings. One has a high kill ratio and the other is trying for a zero body count. Complete opposites from one another. If you hate Isamu then you must hate Maverick from Top Gun cuz those two guys are almost mirror images of each other not Basara.
  7. Bandai does please the fans but just not to us Macross fans. If you look at their Saint Seiya Cloth Myth line, how many versions, or variations have they made? Seiya cloth version 1,2,3, God Cloth, Broken Cloth, Original Colour version, Limited Tamashi version, EX versions, etc etc etc Bandai's choice in milking molds really boggles my mind too. Bandai is like McDonalds - They sell so many burgers and fries it won't matter if you cry and boycott them. Yamato is like a family restaurant - They depend on quality and building regulars to come back for more. Personally I feel more confident for a VF-171 then another re-release of a YF-29. The Bandai's been there, done that mentality is making a re-release unlikely as time keeps passing on however a renewal may be possible.
  8. Hey franz, Just like you when I got older, I decided to revisit this hobby and my first Yammie was a Hikki 1S back in the 1/48 glory days. Charger69 is right about matching with all the other valkyries being produced under the 1/60 scale. Once you buy one you will buy another and it might as well be in scale all together. Most of the early 1/60s VF-1's had a serious shoulder hinge problem that would snap right off if you weren't very careful. Actually I received a VT with a crack hinge straight out of the box. Your best bet is going after the VF-1S Hikaru Anniversary Strike +. Apparently it has the fixed hinges. I cannot confirm as I only have the first edition Hikki Strike version and too scared to transform it out of fighter. Bad news is that it is long discontinued and will fetch a pretty penny out on the market now. Good luck hunting
  9. -+Didn't you pay a pretty penny for a 1/55 1S Stike chunk of plastic? C'mon deep down in your heart I'm sure if Yamato revisted a Hikki 1S Strike with all fixes standing on one leg and giving the military salute pose - you would shell out right?
  10. In a business sense that's the most logical move. However I have my doubts about a reissue. It would make logical sense to reissue a YF-29 bundled with the just released fast packs. Bandai is a large toy company that seems to try to oversaturate the toy market with a variety of new releases with limited supply runs on each of them. The DX line is very exclusive in comparison to say the Cloth Myth series. Every Japanese toy store here in Vancouver I always see a Cloth Myth but rarely if ever do see a DX Macross being a shelf warmer. Bandai just doesn't seem to milk those molds as much as Yamato does and they don't have to because they have other toy lines that rake it in for them. . Another thing to consider is that the YF-29 only appeared in one movie. It's not as recognizable as Alto's VF-25F. As time passes will there still be an interest for this fighter in the perspective of a business owner? In most cases you capitalize the toy market when the product is hot in it's short time of fame. Even Pokemon and Sailor Moon had it's time in the sun before and now you can find their toys in the discount bins. Bandai needs to reissue soon if they plan to do so. The longer they wait the less likely there will be a demand for it in the general Japanese market. There are still plenty of YF-29s availabe on Yahoo Auctions JP. Trends come and go so fast in Japan it wouldn't surprise me if this project got shuffled in the back burner. It is evident that Bandai's main focus is supply and demand for Japan and not the rest of the world. I agree with Reivaj asking for a source. It's okay to wish or hope for a reissue. However to present something will happen without a source based on speculation will result in some one asking for one. IMHO I wouldn't expect anything at the moment as I don't see any signs yet. I hope I am wrong.
  11. Sorry to reply too late but just to share my experience: I recently made a purchase from Nippon-Yasan - Sayonara no Tsubasa limited edition bluray. I have mix feelings about my purchase from them. I received my item damaged where some kind of force was pressed on the box and thus caused a tear on the spine. It also may be due to the shuffling on my package in a oversized shipping box. I also believe that some one actually opened the package because the bluray slip was placed on the wrong side. If I absolutely had no other choice I might consider doing business with them again. At the moment I rather pay a little extra elsewhere. Tokyo Hunter takes longer to respond but so far they've been more trustworthy for me. As a matter of fact I just ordered the same item from Tokyo Hunter. If I receive it brand new, unopened and undamaged, then Tokyo Hunter wins the battle.
  12. Has any one successfully removed the "Made in China" tampo print or am I the only one who's bothered by it? Too afraid to damage such a pricy valkyrie but if it is just bare plastic I may just try to attempt it. Just wanted reassurance if it is possible.
  13. I have to agree. When the VF-19 came out so did the YF-29. Yamato's VF-19 - $300+ toy with it's small flaws is an engineering masterpiece compared to Bandai's YF-29 Bandai's YF-29 - $200+ toy that isn't all that bad but at least included full tampo and display stand - ready to go straight out of the box. The VF-19 is the better toy to an extent but for $300 dollars I expect a little extra. At least an open lid box. I know we all miss those boxes. It may be plashemy for me to say but the YF-29 wins because the toy isn't all that bad in design, it is much more affordable (at least back then ), no need for stickers and it came with a full colored SMS stand. It spoke more value for your money than just one heavy toy. Back on track - The VF-19S is a beauty but for the going price it is a pass. I remember Yamato's SDF valks going for about $120-150. Macross Zero and Plus went pretty close if not at least $200. This year they've been floating at around $300. Next year we may see Yamato flirt around the $400 range. Times are tough for the toy business? Well for those prices the consumers will be even tougher.
  14. Just received this bluray, has this happened to anyone? I bought it new but the back cover flap covered the YF-29. I see a lot of pictures depicting the YF-29 as the front? What is the real front cover when you guys first opened it?
  15. For some weird reason after watching the movie and seeing Grace turning out as one of the "good guys" - I thought about how David would react to the film since she was the one character that had a complete change of character from the tv series. So David, you like your Grace a Good Gal or a Bad Gal?
  16. Forget the gap. Surprisingly no one has mentioned The "Made in China" stamped underneath the wing. Of all the places and of all the font size and of all the color combinations we got a CVF-19 ( China's Variable Fighter -19) Personally, I don't agree with Yamato's concept to focus more attention on one mode just because it appeared in that mode most of the time. It is a perfect transformation toy and all modes should be equally balanced. Being a fighter displayer - The China stamp really annoys me when I look at it in flight mode on my Yamato Stand. The non-removable intake covers to compensate for a fatter and more mobile battroid really didn't go well with me either. Surely there must be a way to engineer a small piece of plastic without conceding shape in this day and age of touch screen technology. If Yamato did put more emphasis on battroid mode - It is not that unreasonable to have wishful thinking of a no gap chest. Especially if fighter mode doesn't get the luxury of a removable intake cover and the China thing all for the sake of a better looking battroid. Jenius shared his opinion and he is entitled to that opinion - despite whether the majority agrees or not. Graham: If a V3 YF-19 is in the works - Please, please, please (begging on my knees) - tell Yamato removable intake covers and no obvious "Made in China" stamps or imprints visible on all modes. How about behind the shield??? but not in black markings.
  17. Macross_Fanboy Warning - stay clear from toydiscountstore on ebay located in the CA area. They have a Shin OA and it was an awful experience for me, please check out blacklist thread for the whole story. Unless you can pick it up personally don't go through the trouble of ordering from them, you may get something else.
  18. Chinese black market offering a production sample for the next Joons limited edition valkyrie. No, on a serious note I can't imagine how pissed I would be If I was in your shoes. Total BS plus one Fubar.
  19. $220 is a very reasonable price for a 1/60 0A Shin - congrats. Very difficult to find new for a reasonable price. Yes be very careful with this particular baby as with any VF-1s known with shoulder problems you wouldn't want to risk stressing the shoulders even on gerwalk mode. IMO fighter looks the best and it stays like that in my collection. Sad to say that this hobby is not cheap and given the high quality representation of these Valkyries I handle them like models rather than toys. Also watch out for the small tailfins and other protruding thin pieces of plastic as they are prone to snap easily if mishandled or tipped over (unless in fighter mode). Breaking a Shin is like winning the lottery and losing your ticket. If you managed to get a VF-0A go all out and have fun with that one. It's much cheaper and more easily found than the Shin version.
  20. Seriously. For those who haven't watched the movie yet - Don't. You'll just want one so badly. I'm surprised that Bandai didn't produce enough for most fans to even get one - Business 101 - supply and demand. I'm not surprised that the value of this particular valkyrie is around the 350 mark given the rarity and no news of a reissue. If I didn't own a YF-29 after watching the movie, I would definitely be stupid enough to possibly pay that amount or more. Can't get rid of that song in my head as I look at my YF-29 - Varukuriaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Without spoiling anything all I can say is when the YF-29 appears that whole entire scene is just simply EPIC. Despite the loose joints or parts who could resist not having one to display or play while singing, ahem... Varukuriaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  21. I never really had any love for the design of the YF-29 when it first made a public appearance. Ordered 2 of them just for the sake that it is a sister plane of the YF-19. But you hit the nail of the head about watching the movie for me. I just watched the movie and I absolutely love this toy even more now. I'm so thankful I didn't make a pass at it after watching the film. It's a valkyrie that needs to be seen in motion for you to fall in love with. Maybe not right away but it starts to grow on you after a few viewings. Now anxiously waiting on those fast packs??? Varukuriaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
