  1. Edit: I re-read your message and I think you simply want to switch your menus and interface to English right? Read this article but it tells you the MUI pack is for corporate users only. You can made some applications such as office switch to English by changing your regional settings. Goto START | CONTROL PANEL | REGIONAL SETTINGS and click on ADVANCE. It should list your preferred language and change that to English. Note that your system will display that menu in Japanese so translate it. Pick America or England or whatever you prefer. It will ask to install some files from the CD and reboot. Your OS will still be in Japanese for the menus but UNICODE aware apps will now be in English for certain dialogs and such. So, back to the original response: First backup all your important stuff to CDR, CDRW, DVDR, DVDRW, another HD, etc... If you are strapped for time, boot into Windows XP Japanese, insert CD rom and attempt to reinstall. It theoretically should work, but will require you to use the CD key from the English (American) version. Your Japanese applications should work but the fonts will be all messed up. I'm running Japanese applications on the Chinese version of XP and those apps do not display perfectly, even with the proper mime type installed. If all goes well, you're up and running in an English environment. If not, you will need to wipe your boot partition and install XP from the CD during bootup. Basic setup without downloading SP1 or post SP1 patching and installing all apps from scratch is at least 1 hour (49 mins to install XP, at least 10 mins of just pressing enter, continue, entering your cd key, setting your time and local settings, etc...). Personally, I would backup, wipe HD and reinstall OS, followed by SP1/post SP1 fixes and updated drivers. Then install your most used apps and games. Forget about stuff you didn't use over the last month. Install them when you need to or think you need to use them again. Good luck.

    Yamato 1/48 Valkyries

You buy GBPs for all of them and WAIT for Yamato to release the 1/48 GBPs, then you sell the 1/60s with FP and GBPs in a nice custom box. I don't know if I want to continue on the 1/48 line since there will never be any villians of that scale for me to stand them next to, but I was waiting for the M&M set though... Hmm...
  3. Graham, Thanks for the review and saving me some money. Now I need to decide if I'm going to invest in the 1/60 line to complete my Macross collection.
  4. If Yamato continues to work on the 1/72 scale, I could be happy about it but ONLY if they revise their molds and sculpts to include or better yet, be on par with Hasegawa's details. After you come the 1/72 YF-19/21 and VF-11B to any of the Hasegawa models, you realize Yamato can improve significantly, as shown in their continued improvements as they ramped up in scale from 1/72 M+, to 1/60 DYRL to 1/48 DRYL. I'm at a stand still for completing my Macross mecha line as I await to see what direction Yamato will take. Then again, If Yamato won't do 1/48 Villians, perhaps someone on this board or one of the garage guys can work on it...
  5. Ugh... So I guess my 1/48s are going up on the trophy case then.
  6. If you watch Macross Plus, you can see most of the full detailed cockpits and note how the monitoring system wraps around the pilot so he can see front, top, bottom and sides. Having eyes in the back would have the pilot turning around to see what was behind him. As most have said the multitude of radar and threat sensors to warn you of proximity and imminent danger with that full screen hud is overwhelming enough.
  7. For a project that I'm evaluating, I need to cut curves. Do you have a picture or recommendation of said Jewlers Saw? I just picked up a BIG 1.5" deep model saw for 3 bux. That has got to be one of my better tool deals next to my 20 piece file set for 3 bux.
  8. That doesn't look bad at all! Is there a snell rating for the helmet? and who makes it?
  9. Great recommendations folks! Thanks a lot! I already picked up The Patlabor Movies (1-3), the newer OVA releases and Cowboy Bebop. Just waiting to get it warmed up on the dvd player. I actually do like comedies but I was looking for more action packed movies with a deep story. I love Lupin III (have TV series 1 - 2 to start - My GOD! ) , Miyazaki and have Shirow's Collection to finish (Dominion Tank Police just cracks me up). Wings of Honneamise, Jin Roh, and Golgo13 are going on my must have lists now and I'll pick up the UC Gundam Movies and Votoms. I love those old school mechs. I tried to watch Lain but that just bored me stiff. I need something more hardcore than that. My copy is for sale now. PM if interested. Also whats up with all of these Gundam X, Y,Z, ZZ and etc... My god, I could teach the alphabets to my niece and nephews with just the covers from the series.
  10. I was cleaning out my Anime collection and realized I need NEW animes to watch. I already have M:Zero on order and saw all 3 Yukikazes. I'm looking for recommendations based on more military and semi-possibly realistic mature scenarios and less of the SD funny kiddy stuff. Yukikaze would be one example and some of my old faves include all of the Macross animes cept for M7 (didn't watch that yet), Mospeada, Megazone 23, Bubble Gum Crisis, Space Cruiser Yamato, Captain Harlock, Spriggin (short but action was good) Blue Sub 6, Crying Freeman (man, is sanctuary ever going anime?) and occult (not hentai) demon shows. This is to give you guys a feeling for my tastes. I watched some Gun Grave from the dvds I bought for a friend and it was pretty good cept for the quality. I have not and never had watched any episodes of Gundam (I counted almost 15 boxed sets and individual titles at the shop) and don't know which ones to start on. I saw a few minutes of the most recent release and the CG was fricking awesome. Let me know!
  11. THANK YOU for the McGuyver's method of re-casting! Very cool! What was the biggest piece you item you had re-casted using this method? Any other methods for cheapo casting? Maybe a new thread is needed! Thank you again.
  12. I 2nd the Dremel. Now If I can only get my friend to ship one over here...
  13. I don't know about Australia or Canada but the US has a 1400 USD allowance where no custom charges (tax) will be applied PER PERSON for items you had purchased outside of the country. So bring big empty luggage and friends to "spread" the wealth. You can declare less too but that would be bordering on... inappropriateness... Or just peel the price tags off.

    YF-21...

I nominate the perch mode to be officially dubbed the "Chicken" mode. Bawwwk bawwwk bawwwkk come here little red ghost ship... Bawwkk bawwwk bawwwk..
  15. Great Job! I love your paintjob! I wanted to buy the Yukikazes too but at 1/100, I think I'll hold onto my money. wmcheng, what do you think of the Platz version? Is it worth the cash for it? We found one on the shopathon and its a grip.

    YF-21...

You mean Gerwalk? Post a pic!
  17. So is his name Isamu, Basara, Shin or ... Rick Hunter The 2nd? ... waits for mods to ban me ... J/k! Your baby is beautiful, even though he did try to eat my cell phone.
  18. Bitorrent is one method and I would also add Overnet since that has the ability to propogate on its own and setup your own upload limits so everyone within the network won't have their uplink saturated. 0.5 Kb/sec from 10-20 people could help the ftp servers a LOT.
  19. Just curious but has a toy (doubt this) or garage model of the Megaroad or the SDF-3 (not counting the big one off by a MW member here) ever been produced? I would love to see all of the details of that ship in 3D.
  20. I want to thank Graham for hosting and guiding the ratpack of MWers through the busy streets of Hong Kong, answering all of our pesky questions, and not getting mad at us for doing stupid but fun things! THANK YOU GRAHAM for making this trip so memorable. I also want to say that it was great meeting everyone. Recon: Super nice guy and I'm glad to have met you and your wife. If you still want that TF set from CTMA, pm me and I'll try my best to help you. Lazyman: thanks for being our local guide and helping everyone. I felt bad we cut into your personal time but I'll buy you a drink the next time we meet up. Sebastian: Man you are too funny and have a great personality. Kept me laughing most of the time and take care of your beautiful family. Guppy: Did you think you bought enough this time? You know you and your girl have a total of 4 arms and can stuff more into your luggage right? Let us know when you land in HK again! I think all of the toy shops are going to welcome you with open arms! Deadzone: Cool to meet you and funny how we lived so close to each other (both sides of the globe) but didn't meet until now. By the time you read this, I hope you have all those valuables stuffed in your luggage and on your way or already back home. XSToys: Well, what can I say? Really, what can I say? Haha... Great meeting you and your wife/gf. I hope you had a great time. It was entertaining talking to you and regardless of what Sebastian wrote in all of the public men's restroom, you're a cool guy. Oh yeh, All MWes on the tour can PM privately me to exchange for hires pictures.
  21. All offenders were spotted wearing group identifiers. Maybe the authorities can decipher this:
  22. MWers escapes to elevator and ducks low after asking the shop owner to open, look at and not buy the nth toy / model / item. Staying low kept them out of line of sight. I think someone felt up on guppy but we don't know who or maybe he just passed some gas?
  23. Graham and Sebastian shows their prized possession after rummaging through and bypassing old pricey Macross toys and models.
  24. MW'ers invades Causeway Bay and makes good with mad shopping!
  25. Horrific picture of hostage in despair among the destructive group
