  1. 6 hours later of intense cat and mouse chases throughout most of Mong Kok's little alley ways, tiny dens and numerous "bargaining" with shop owners, the suspects were almost apprehended when they were spotted resting by Pearl TV's news team. There were two additional female hostages amongst the group and sadly, they are all still at large. If you see or know the whereabouts of the suspects, please report them to the proper authorities immediately. Do not engage them under any circumstances. Frustration from lack of obtaining "killer deals" and high anxiety levels due for the forthcoming Causeway Bay onslaught have the authorities worried of escalating destruction and fury.
  2. So I decided to search through this thread to see if I can contact folks for the meet. Well, I turned on the TV and what do you know? A ruckus broke out in Mong Kok where PTU and SDU were called in to seal off the area. Supposedly, a dispute between a traveling group and the shop keeper erupted due to lack of quality services and offerings. "What?!?! No discounts for 2 MPC Optimus Primes and the 4 1/48s?" was heard amongst brawling and the sound of crushed boxes under trampling feets. Here's a screen capture from Pearl TV showing the suspects. Be aware of these people and inform the proper authorities if you have sighted them:
  3. Eternal D, If no one at the shopathon can get you the Convoy, I can get it for you. We can arrange payment and I'll hand it over to a MW member to have it delivered to you. I would hate to see you miss out too much. I missed todays event but will try to meet up with the gang.
  4. Interested in clear full FP set for yamato customers and a cheaper alternative to the existing FP for painting / customizing.
  5. I forgot to check MW's main site when I found those. Thanks for the correction!
  6. Great job! If you have progressive build up pictures, I would love to see them. Keep it up!
  7. Macross Aiuchi Typing Game (Graphics are pretty good)
  8. and Macross Plus Game. I don't know if this is an action or strategy game.
  9. Macross Flash Back ? 3.5 floppies
  10. I was cruising Yahoo Japan and found these Macross games under software. Anybody have any idea where I can get a "demo" copy or a cheap place to buy them in Hong Kong (bootleg or original). Macross Another Story
  11. How did I miss this thread? Welcome to MW! Nice pictures! Post your progress shots on your factory. I would love to see them.
  12. Is there something in spray can paints that is different than air brushing thinned paint from jars? I really don't know this so would like to avoid any future mistakes.

    1/1 DYRL Helmet

I'd wear one on a motorcycle if it was in the $400-500 range. Probably not the shoulder pads/armor though. I only mentioned that to see if the cost is justified. A nice helmet from Arai costs around 500-600 for their low end models. The top of line versions with air inlets, in helmet mike attachements and etc... cost over $1200 USD so the cost of these helmets would be worth it for limited production item. A snell rating would be cool to have though. Since its for display and cosplay only, the price is too high personally. However, think how much those old stormtrooper helmets and armor cost way back in the days when they were garage kits. For a professionally made item, it is about inline with pricing.
  14. You know, for the price you listed, you could buy 2 1/60s with Strike Armor so you can have both Roy and Hikaru. If you like the 1/60s, I would buy VF-1S Strike Roy and wait wait wait then buy a Super VF-1J Hikaru with GBP-S Armor Kit. You can swap the FB and GBP Armor kit around for posing. See pictures here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...t=ST&f=4&t=4227 Personally, I ended up buying both VF-1S w/FP and VF-1J Super in 1/48 for posing, playing and displaying. Once you go 48, its already to late!
  15. If you wet the glue stick, you could introduce a place for bacterial growth in the model. Or the glue will revert back to its sticky state when the liquid evaporates. I was thinking more along the lines of cellophane wrap or a piece of shrink wrap wire insulation. Heck, a piece from a stretchable plastic bag would do, but those would degrade over time quickly. There is a rubber coating compound that you can buy for insulating wires or even rubber shoe ahesive (for repairing or adding new heels to dress shoes) that might work. You just brush it or dap a little on, wait for it dry and form the rubber "film" and re-attach the joint. I would test it on a piece of sprue to see if the chemicals would eat into the styrene first though. This is sounding more like the McGuyver thread of model fixing... I wonder what a lighter, sand, twigs and pocket lint could make? A perfect transformable VF-4 Lightning? LOL
  16. I don't have this kit so I'm just guessing. Are you referring to the hip joints? If the joints are loose, try wrapping something thin and "rubbery" around the joint or insert a piece of said material in-between the polycap, then re-attach the hip and thigh together. This will provide some friction to hold the pose. It will eventually wear out with a lot of posing and transformation so plan ahead to make that part removable or replace the polycap / joints with something better from Wave or Kutobukiya. A picture of what the internal hip area would better let us help you.
  17. Nice job! These customs sure looks great. We should have a pinned custom gallery thread in here.

    1/1 DYRL Helmet

It these were made for display only, then the prices are a grip. If the quality is actually up to professional use levels, meaning in the same class as racing grade snell 2000 + auto/moto sports helmets, then the prices are absolutely worth it for the custom looks and usability. Size will be a problem for many.

    1/48 Enigma Custom

Kurt, My favorite custom 1/48 from the ones I've seen so far. Jung's CF 1/48 is a close 2nd though. I wish my bank would inflate right now so I can send you and Jung a case of 1/48s each for commission work. I can't wait to see you finish off the Fast Packs!
  20. I think the Hikaru 1S is about the same price as the re-issused 1A now. Plus you get the better pilot sculpt.
  21. You're right in that using the line art would be better for proper proportions yet I do want pictures of the back of the ARII kits for engineering references. I want to know how ARII handled the attachment points for the armor and how the pieces came together. The lack of detail in the ARII kit would be added back on from the line art references if I have the right tools and can figure out how to get them in. And yes, the low resolution scans were not detailed enough, hence the requests for some hi-res ones.
  22. I think this is going OT but I would have love to see a Macross / Yukikaze crossover. Get Roy, Hikaru, Max, Isamu and Basara (for the M7 guys - Kidding ) behind the FRX-99 and Super Slyph to see what those bad boys can really do. I also didn't like the Rei's character development but maybe thats how the Japanese portray being "in touch with yourself". I sure don't see that in Hong Kong or Korean Cinema though.
  23. Strange question Anthony. ... I am sure you will not get bored, also if some of us are not the cool type or party type, it doesnt matter, for me is pretty exciting the idea of meeting people from MW and share our passion for toys and anime. We are the rare type , we may look and act different but we are alike and that is the reason we all are getting together in HK, right? To have fun no matter what. After writing it, I thought it was a tad strange myself but remembered why I wrote it. I've been to many gatherings (not just Macross related), and while attendees appeared to be relatively social on the internet, most were introverts at live meets, especially their first or nth ones. I found it underwelming to say the least with me gabbing and the others listeing, snickering, looking at their shoes or all of the above. It sounds like we have festive group and I'm also looking forward to meeting you folks. I have no expectations or particular preferences for any people other than to enjoy our commonalities. See you all soon
  24. Hey all, I think some of you may have these kits sitting in your closet, in your grubby hands or sealed in that Michael Jackson Youth Chamber, and I humbly request hi-res detailed pictures of the armor pieces from the front and back. On the sprues would be great but detailed shots of every piece would be best. If possible, scanning the whole sprue sheet would be a nice way to get scaled sizing out of them without distortion. I would also like a scan of the instruction sheets. I want these for reference since I'm considering custom making a set for the Hasegawa 1/72 Battroid and other derivative designs. Thanks for any leads.
