  1. Yeah, I mentioned the FAQ in my post, and how I didn't really find it very reassuring. Kurisama I know the movie is out on Blu-ray in Australia and the UK, but it's not out in non-PAL regions as far as I know. The question is, will there be any issue in playback for any of the non-HD contents of the disc (extras), since playback in SD would involve PAL or NTSC compatibility. In my case, though I'm in Japan, a US release would be very highly appreciated, but there isn't one. I thought about importing the UK one, but I'm not sure if it will all work or not. EDIT -- Actually, I'll just throw it out there. Does anyone know what the deal is with the 86 movie, and why it's not out on BD in the US?
  2. Davidwhangchoi I actually went out of my way to specifically say "the series" and not the movie. You'll notice I mention that the movie was targeted to an older audience anyway. I really like the movie. OK, that's an understatement, I adore it as a totally guilty pleasure. Why is it not out on Blu-Ray?? Mikeszekely Depends what you mean by "IDW can do Regeneration One". They did it, certainly, but I didn't hear many positive reviews of it. I'm certainly not opposed to anything G1, I just don't expect much... :/
  3. Wouldn't this concept work better as a fan-made comic? I'm glad that my concerns regarding the tone of the show were actually addressed in the FAQ -- the question about the lightheartedness and weak characterizations and plots, etc. However, I do not find the answer satsfactory. G1 was what it is because of the way those types of TV shows were produced in the first place. We were kids and lapped it up. Now we've grown up and we do not expect to be talked down to... That is a genuine concern for the producers of this entertainment based on the oldschool IP. Look at Transformers Prime. Some fans loved it, some said it was poorly written, etc.. You have to admit that TF Prime is overall a much-better written and produced show than the original series, looking objectively, because there has been an evolution in the way these shows are made and an expansion in the target audience, demanding more consistency and maturity. To continue the G1 story and themes in the way of the original series is to invite a heavy criticism from people who have aged 30 years and expect better for what they pay good money for. On the other hand, inserting a more mature tone will take it further from the source material and you might as well be reading the books they've already put out. Not to mention the fact that Season 2 and the Movie will be difficult to tie anyway simply because there is already a tonal difference between the two -- I believe the movie was targeted towards a slightly older audience than the series. Anyway, I'm interested to see if this pans out, but I'm highly doubtful it can work. I mean, I haven't even talked about how it's also a totally different medium!
  4. There was something that one may consider a revelation regarding mecha -- As Kawamori was transforming the YF-30 toy, the egg-carton thing popped off. Everyone laughed as if he had broken it, but he said, "no no, it's OK, it's supposed to come off. This missile rack can be replaced with other things", to which Tenjin asked, "such as what other things?" Kawamori then replied with: 「ま、それは今後のネタにつながる」-- Which roughly translated (just because "neta" has little equivalent in English) means "Well, we will have to wait and see", but with a more specific tone. More literally -- "That relates to a future theme". It might not be the main mecha, but I'm certain that we have not seen the last of the YF-30.
  5. Gunbuster -- Ah, I see. Thanks! Treatment -- Yeah, I heard those KO's are mostly indistinguishable from the real thing...

    Hi-Metal R

No, it doesn't. Inexplicably. Also, only the VF-19S comes with a stand included, the VF-19Kai is stand-alone, you have to buy everything else separately as websclusives, and it doesn't even come with closed fists.
  7. Gerli, Eaut1994 You guys are talking about the scene in DYRL showing the poster in the Macross City cinema that reads "Il Pleut sur Santiago". That's an actual movie, based on the real life story of the coup d'etat of Salvador Allende's government. Yes, it translates from the French to "It's raining on Santiago", but it's not a weather forecast!

    Hi-Metal R

I was at the show on Saturday and I heard that Bandai was thinking of re-engineering some parts of the VF-1 Hi-metal mold (and Kawamori was actually making corrections to the CAD files onsite). Notably, the nose may be removable a la Yamato, which should help facilitate the Armour Parts.
  9. Hey, what version of Classics Prime is that? I have the Henkei edition, but it only has chrome on the bumper and grill, not on the legs. It looks interesting!
  10. Mini news on the new series from last night's talk show with Kawamori and Tenjin at the Macross Tamashii event -- it's definitely going to feature a female singer, but like all previous shows, it's going to be *different*. Kawamori was concerned that after the first show's "twist" that the enemy is defeated with music, fans know what to expect, but a few months ago he had an idea to make it more interesting. So Kawamori is definitely involved. Also, they still did not reveal the actual reading of the title. I think it's going to be "Delta" as much as most people here, but they were having a lot of fun keeping us guessing. Tenjin suggested "Macross Reconguista".
  11. I was at the show today and I took quite a lot of photos, here are a few that I feel will help aid the discussion regarding what's happening with the legs.
  12. That may have been true for the v1 DX 25, but so where is the photoshoot with a grinning Miyatake holding up the Megahouse toy? Kawamori hardly ever did that (not never, though) for Yamato products, yet it is a fact that he told them to re-do some parts and sections and keep changing the colours.
  13. Price-point aside, it has been stated that this toy has been designed under supervision of Miyatake, so any inaccuracies to the anime or whatnot have probably been OK'd by him.
  14. I heard that Crichton wrote the second book under obligation since the movie had already been greenlit... not sure how reliable that info is, though.
  15. Ah, so it was cleared up, good. I saw that on TFW earlier but I don't have an account so I didn't correct them. That thing is written in terrible Japanese grammar, and uses a font that Chinese sites use as standard, not Japanese, and actually it doesn't look as if the main text (which is nonsensical anyway) has anything to do with Megatron, or even Transformers. They've just stuck the words "Megatron" randomly in the text. In fact, the words "MP25Megatron" actually appear right in the MIDDLE OF ANOTHER WORD. That just does not happen with Google Translate. This looks like a deliberate attempt to troll the Western fandom and trick them into thinking "OMG MP Megs!!" as JB0 said (mission accomplished, btw). The question is, why? If I had to guess, somebody does not want the X-Transbots figure to do very well. :/ TL;DR version -- It all smells real bad.
  16. Wasn't it back in 2006 or so? That's a lot of weeks, more than "several", I would say! Just kidding:D
  17. Looking at the scan, the first thing I noticed is that they spelled Tamashii with THREE "I"s. Wow, that's hardcore! Watch out Arcadia, they mean business!!
  18. Nekko Basara: Yep, Tochiro went. I couldn't go because I missed out on tickets, but I heard it was amazing. Save had a ticket but his car broke down and he missed out, too.
  19. Hoho, it looks like Tomo Sakurai and Chie Kajiura will reunite in February for Chie's unofficial "Not-MyleneNight" third party event
  20. You can also just pop off the other side lasers since they are just on a peg, and then you have a perfectly clean fighter mode. Although, those lasers are there for a reason, of course. In space, you gotta watch your back!
  21. Yeah, I think they made quite a few production runs of the VF-19S, while they only did one, AFAIK, of the 19F. Ideally, of course, it should be the other way round. But I guess in the end more people would rather buy just the one iconic valk rather than going all out to get the entire squadron, so it does make sense economically.
  22. I preordered that Movie OST vinyl as soon as I saw it in the news on TFW. Yeah, that is a high price for a single disc, bare-bones release. It would be an excellent value deal if it had the full score, and it doesn't even say if it is remastered or not (180g audiophile vinyl is one of those buzzwords, really, 180g doesn't really guarantee improved audio apparently). But I still couldn't help myself. I love vinyl and I love the 80s OST, so this is a total no-brainer for me.
  23. I should point out that the CG textures in MacZero were not "farmed out to CAD monkeys in China" or whatever... They were mostly developed by one Hidetaka Tenjin, who most certainly is a very passionate aircraft enthusiast.
  24. Thanks to the Asia Exclusive reissue, last week I finally got a Masterpiece Prime MP10, and I'm loving it. That is all.
