Electric Indigo, you could have fooled me into thinking it was an actual CG pic of BG.

Out of all the recent announcements, FOC voyager Soundwave is the only one that piques my interest. Having only starting my collection after the 2007 movie, and not yet able to find TFP Soundwave, this will mark the first time I'm getting a Soundwave with attachable minions, just like his G1 incarnation.- 17112 replies

Awesome review, UN Spacy! Thankfully, my local hobby store actually came through this time, and brought in the Super Parts for both Alto and Ozma. Too bad about the latter; couldn't find myself an Ozma, so I only bought the Alto Super Parts. BTW, welcome onboard, NightCastle! Same here; hoping for a bundled Ozma VF-25S with Armor parts. It'd be the only way I can get Ozma's ride.

Wow, that's some pretty intense bling! Gold parts might not look too good if you're going for accuracy. A word of caution when using Tamiya clear coats. I'm not sure about other paints, but if you're using Tamiya spray paints and top coating with the same brand of clear coat, DON'T wait for it to cure! There have been numerous reports of paint jobs cracking due to the different off-gassing times between the color and clear coat in Tamiya paints. Try to spray your top coat as soon as your color coat dries. Apparently, doing so allows the color and clear coats to off-gas and cure at the same time. If you choose to clear coat with FFP, some modelers have reported no incidents of hairline cracks if you allow the color coat to dry for about two weeks. I've never had any first-hand experience with these things, though. I mostly build Gunpla, and prefer to simply spray a matte coat onto the plastic itself, since the colors are all accurate. If all this sounds too scary, you might want to avoid Tamiya clear coats and go for another brand instead.

Nice work! That's one massive ship. BTW, is the wood deck custom or does it come with the kit? I've never built "real-world" scale model before, so I wouldn't know what usually comes with these kits. That thing's gorgeous. I'd buy one myself if I didn't already have six other kits waiting for me to complete,

NEED HELP! Need some advice on ac adapters here, guys! Turns out, the local Tamiya store doesn't sell the ac adapter required to run the compressor (the Japanese adapter is 100v, which is incompatible here). They said I had to go to an electronics store to buy one. Here's the real problem: the specs they gave was for a 12V 3-5 Amp AC adapter. But the specs on the compressor itself says 7.2V. I've read from a local thread where a guy ran his compressor through an ac adapter at 6v, but the power was too low. He had to switch to 12v for it to run smoothly. It seems to run fine on a 6v battery, but not on ac with the same voltage. Either way, I'm worried that running the compressor at 12v might fry the motor. Any advice?

Among 1/72 Macross fighters, the VF-1's are usually on the smallish side. But if something like, say, a 1/72 YF-19 or VF-0 could fit, then the booth shuld provide ample space for all my spraying needs. As for the Musashi, dude, I seriously doubt it'll fit in your spray booth--not sideways, at least.

For the past ten years or so, I've survived on a diet of homemade beef stew, fried rice, canned tuna, grilled chicken, fruits and boiled veggies. Yeah, typical bachelor food.

I'm surprised the smokestacks haven't been neutered. As for the fig itself, I also wonder how Hasbro managed to lower the price that drastically. The only difference I see is the missing silver paint apps in the trailer, OP's face, ribs and groin. The coin, too. Could it be cheaper plastic?- 17112 replies

Understood, and thanks for the tip on the windows. Some modellers complain about the booth being too small for them to turn their scale jet fighters around when spraying the other side. It should be okay for me, since I mostly build bipedal mecha kits with smaller footprints. BTW, I made a mistake about the difference in psi between the basic model and the Revo. The basic one is only 7 psi for continuous pressure, while the Revo's is 10 psi. I don't know how much of a difference this makes, but the guys who reviewed it didn't complain about it, so it should be okay. Wow, that kit you're building looks massive. 30 machine gun turrets? Just looking at those rows of tiny parts you've got blu-tacked to those sticks...I bow in respect.

Thanks for asking, Jefuemon. I settled for the Tamiya basic air compressor w/ airbrush. While I initially wanted to get the Revo you recommended, the price is a little too steep if I also buy the spray booth at the same time (and I HAVE to get a spray booth, since I can't find a respirator). I read through some reviews, and it seems the basic compressor does the job well enough for an airbrushing beginner like me. Not so great for fancy detailing work, but does a good job of giving a smooth even coat on large surfaces. Pretty much does exactly what I need an airbrush for in the first place. One of the main drawbacks of the basic compressor is that it's a little louder than the Revo (68db to the Revo's 56db), and can only be safely used up to 20-30 minutes. Any longer, and you risk overheating the plastic gears. The included airbrush is also a single action one, but that's more of an advantage for me, since it's easy to control and clean. You also have to buy a separate AC adapter or one of Tamiya's RC battery packs. Other than that, the specs are pretty much the same as that of the Revo: 15 psi, etc. For the spray booth, I'm getting the Tamiya spray booth II, single fan version. One question: is the single fan one good enough if I use it with only a NIOSH N95 mask (non-FOV)? I'll be doing my spraying in an air-conditioned room, and the filtered air is circulated back into the room. About that 1/350 scale battleship...how big is that thing? Looks like a ton of assembly work.

TRU exclusive? Makes me feel better about getting the Takara version. The local TRU never brings in any Hasbro Masterpieces...EVER. BTW, anyone getting the Perfect Effect Not-Arcee's?- 17112 replies

Thanks, Nash. Price is kind of steep, especially before shipping costs. I'll text the owner of my local hobby store and see if he's bringing this one in. He usually sells at a cheaper price than online shops.- 17112 replies

Kind of kicking myself for getting the no-frills Kotobukiya kit. Never even knew there were so many different versions. Should have went for the Revoltech ones and collected the whole line--less space used, more variety. BTW, that vector cannon looks sweet.

Missed out on the game, but I like the shorter one's design. If it doesn't take up too much space or cash, I'd like to buy it as a display piece. Hopefully it comes out a little later in the year--not much in the way of disposable funds, after pre-ordering a ton of stuff earlier.

That is a thing of beauty.

My thoughts exactly. I mean, they've been carbon copying so much from past TF media, they might as well take a page from TFA and give fans what they want. And yeah, that Cyclopean Ravage design is horrid. I remember seeing an early concept design of Ravage with a much cleaner, Alien "chest burster" type head design that looks worlds better--it's on the second bonus DVD of the limited edition ROTF pack with the Bumblebee case. A shame they settled on this one instead. I've got my eye on the blue one. Hopefully the local hobby store will be bringing these in.- 17112 replies

I plead lack of space, you honor. Besides, I'm only allowed on bank-breaking purchase a year. The one for 2012 has already been filled by HT's 1/60 Tumbler.

I'll say. My FF XIII-2 Lightning not only has a somewhat bent left lower leg (thankfully covered by her feather-skirt thing) but the ankle joint is also busted. Recently broke after I tried to move it a bit. It's now held together by blutac. FF XIII-2 Serah fared better, but her ankles aren't as flexible as I'd like them to be (seems to be the case with all PlayArts Kai figs), and she tends to fall over at times.
