  1. Me too. I'd have waited a whole year longer if that's what it took. Just a totally unconfirmed theory, but I think they did GZ as a standalone game to get the execs at Konami to give Kojima more time to finish the main TPP game, TPP just seems unfinished. Kojima would most likely have fixed the crazy terrain issues where Venom couldn't even climb over a knee-height rock. BTW, having Venom run into firefights between the Soviets and the Mujahadeen wouldn't be a problem, as we've already seen this being done in MGS4. At least 2 large sections of the game had local freedom fighters going up against PMC's while Snake slipped through enemy lines--you could even help the freedom fighters out and gain their trust. I mean, the programming's already there. Of course, I'm not a game designer, so I wouldn't know if it would be that easy to recycle game programs like that.
  2. Glad to help. On other news, I caved and pre-ordered MP Hot Board Rod along with Shockwave. For some reason, I seem to be making so many impulse buys lately.
  3. Still pining for an Oshii movie version of the Major, but this'll do for now.
  4. Thanks UN_MARINE! That explains everything. I never saw the prompt. I just got up and crouched on the middle of the crate, and fultoned in like usual. I recommend the LMG or D-Walker with Gatling gun equipped against Skull soldiers. Shreds Skulls like nothing else. Keith also recommends the Serval for headshots, but I haven't unlocked that one yet. On that one mission with the sniper Skulls (Code Talker I think), I got pissed after seeing Quiet get killed by them3 times in a row, and I just couldn't sneak past them no matter how hard I tried. Ended up calling in a tank and wiping the floor with them. Killing them alerts the mansion guards, and they call in a chopper and armored vehicle in the later part of the game, but that's the only way to get cammo parasite (extracting sniper skulls).
  5. Yeah, it's a shame that they had to recycle missions to pad up the game. I haven't finished the game, but I've heard enough talk about what's been going on between Kojima and Konami, that MGSV is basically an incomplete game resulting from Konami's reluctance to invest in AAA titles, and Kojima's manic perfectionism. BTW, I just finished Cursed Legacy, and for some reason, I couldn't extract Venom using the Wormhole Fulton while on a crate, which is one of the optional objectives. It Fultoned the crate, but Venom just falls off. It's also the first time in a long while that I left Quiet behind, and used DD. It was actually pretty fun taking out the heavy infantry using DD's stun attack and gas grenades. Earned a bat emblem for it--which is strange. Apparently, it was supposed to be for "whose who achieved victory using all forms of the art of war" or something like that. All I did was use DD's "bark" and "stun" command, and lob gas grenades at the enemy. As for ZoE, I'm still kicking myself for not getting the HD collection for the PS3. Funny thing is, I got to know the mech before the game! I just saw a random pic of the Jehuty and instantly bought the Kotobukiya kit, without even knowing the source material.
  6. Good news for you, David... Trypticon is available for sale at Amazon.
  7. Thanks Keith! "Backup, Back Down" was a PITA even in normal mode with all the running around, and I don't relish the idea of going through it again in extreme mode.
  8. I've gotten to the point where the main missions start getting recycled in harder modes; are they optional or do I have to do them to get more story-related missions?
  9. Strangely, I never tried out the stun, blast and rocket arms even after developing them a while back. I used Hand of Jehuty a little, and the range was a little disappointing. Will have to give the stun and rocket arms a try next mission. Either way, all the rocket/blast hands won't make up for a missing Quiet. I accidentally unlocked her "secret" cutscene where she and Venom were frolicking in the rain at MB. Still got the butterfly emblem on, and I'll keep her until I S rank everything until mission 45.
  10. Well, I just finished mission 31--surprisingly fun. It's now obvious that Quiet becomes less and less "fire and forget" as the game progresses. While still a major help, she can easily get injured enough to be pulled out of the AO if the enemy starts spraying her general direction with machine gun and mortar fire. I now have to get off my lazy ass and take down the more "dangerous" soldiers myself (snipers, and heavy infantry--basically those who are either hard for Quiet to kill with tranq darts or are able to spot and injure her), before using "cover me." Hopefully the wormhole fulton and hand of Jehuty will make things easier for me. Not a fan of the recycled missions on harder difficulties, though. Seems to not be worth the effort. That said, I'd better complete them while I still have Quiet with me.
  11. I think I may be relying a little too much on Quiet. I just replayed Where Do Bees Sleep, trying to S Rank it using her. It turns out, enemy equipment and ranks increase as you progress even on missions you've previously played--I could have sworn there weren't any heavy infantry the 1st time around. Even with a silenced Guilty Butterfly, she got taken out by the troops in Smasei Laman. In a rage, I called for D-Walker and went terminator on the soldiers with a Gatling gun--quite therapeutic, I have to admit . After calming down a little, I restarted from a checkpoint and with a bit of patience, managed to tranq the whole base and Fulton'ed everyone. Got a measly B rank for it, but at least I completed the optional tasks. On the next try, I'll try heading straight for Smasei Laman to save time. BTW, Quiet's grenade ricochet is really great against helicopters. Unlike rocket launchers, it doesn't cause an alert.
  12. You mean the Serval? I haven't unlocked that one yet. Still using the first unlocked Brennan. It takes down heavy infantry, but not sure it it's strong enough for Skulls. I'll certainly try that out later--it'd be nice to take down Skulls without having to dismiss her for D-Walker. After using Quiet for so long, I just can't get used to solo'ing or using any other buddies on missions anymore.
  13. D-Walker + Gatling gun against Skull soldiers is truly a sight to behold. Totally shredded their armor, and 3 minutes was all it took. I think I'll redo Metallic Archaea and Where do Bees Sleep, using D-Walker for the last part and try Fultoning some Skulls.
  14. Doesn't sound as bad as the infamous "spawn-point ambushes" in most other FSP's, but it still sounds like a nightmare to FOB base defenders if some guy tried god-mode'ing through an invasion. Anyway, I just survived mission 28 - Code Talker. For the first time since I started using Quiet, I got killed thrice by those Skull snipers--twice using Quiet (they killed her rather quickly and sniped me while I tried to sneak past them), and once when I tried using D-Walker to hightail it to the waterfall. The third time around, I called in a tank and wiped the floor with them. The mansion infiltration wasn't so bad, but getting out was a nightmare. Quiet can't do much with the enemy hiding inside, and after I got spotted, it was basically run-and-gun all the way. Not exactly a flawless mission, but I got out alive, at least, and miraculously earned a B rank. And now. on to mission 29. I've been hearing great things about D-Walker and it's Gatling gun when going against skull soldiers. Fortunately, I've been steadily upgrading its armor and Gatling and from what I've seen on youtube, it should be a cakewalk, as long as there's open space and you keep moving while firing to avoid the black mist and jump attacks.
  15. As usual, thanks for the advice, guys! I've actually maxed out MB and the vast majority of my soldiers are A+ and above (except for those in the waiting room), so I guess I should be all right. I don't usually play online though (limited bandwidth and monthly quota BS). Out of curiosity though, what are these "hackers" I keep hearing FOB players talking about?
  16. That's bad news. Often times, just one or two extra A+ or A++ staff can make the different between the facility being leveled up enough for a certain weapon development or not. Oh, and I'm about to start mission 21 - War Economy, where... I'm really starting to hate Kojima.
  17. True! Arcadia box art isn't much of an improvement either, sadly. I've always like Bandai's though.
  18. These TF games just keep getting shorter. FOC was about 8-12 hours and I thought that was short. Sounds like the replay value in Devastation makes up for the short story mode, though. I may get the PS3 version, since the cel-shaded graphics aren't going to make much of a difference in quality on the PS4.
  19. Yikes, this is awkward. Anyways, thanks. I'll go with FFP then, since it gives the best gloss effect, and the rest of the figure is really glossy. Just have to give it a few weeks to fully off-gas.
  20. Yamato also did a reissue on the YF-19 with the fixed gun and landing gear not long before they went under. It's easily identifiable with the new illustration on the box.
  21. Yeah, my bad. I've been staying offline playing MGSV the whole time, and it never occurred to me to go online to check for updates. I've been reading some threads on the Silent Basilisk thing, and it seems he does eventually get "fired" after you fully expand Mother Base and keep Fultoning soldiers with better stats. Can't confirm this, though. The low-stat interpreters are still hanging out at my intel strut, and no matter how many times I throw them into the waiting room, they automatically get shuffled back to the Intel unit.
  22. Sheesh man, no need to be snarky. It's a 300 USD fig, and I just wanted to make sure.
  23. Gonna pre-order Shockwave today, but I still haven't decided on Dumbass Hot Rod yet. He'd make a great companion to Generations Springer, but that chest is awful.
  24. Damn, browsing this thread is really tempting me to get some Star Wars kits of my own. Those are some gorgeous builds there, Derex and WM! Anyways, I have a question for you guys. I recently bought a Hot Toys Iron Man MK.III diecast figure, and it seems the paint hasn't had a chance to fully cure. I found light pinkish stains on my gloves after handling the figure, and the chest area of the armor seems to have lost a little bit of it's "showroom sheen." It's not noticeable in normal lighting, but the gloss finish is somewhat less than the other areas under bright lights. I'm thinking of clear coating with FFP (Future Floor Polish aka Pledge Multi-Surface), but I've no idea how it'll react to the paint. I'm guessing the paint HT uses is much hotter, either enamels or lacquer, so an acrylic based clear coat like FFP should be safe. I'm just not sure if it's worth the risk. Either way, I'm going to let it off-gas for a couple of weeks or maybe a month before doing anything to it. Any advice is appreciated. (P.S., thanks for the tips on the original thread, EXO. Not sure if I can find this brand over here, but I'll keep an eye out for it.)
