  1. Since the Hi-Metal line is around 1/100 scale, truthfully that would pair well with 1/144 Battroids for a true-scale.
  2. The 1/48 VF-1A/S was the "Do You Remember Love" version, so it has the movie pilot figure and movie cockpit. The VF-1J is TV version for pilot and cockpit. There's a slight difference between the canopies too, but those kits include both type.
  3. You are correct. Just like with the Wave 1/100 kits, to get Gerwalk mode you need to buy Fighter and Battroid, then combine the required parts.
  4. Hated what they did with the Frontier line. Going to save my money and wait for the probable Hasegawa version in a few years.
  5. Some new models coming out. Storm Attack DYRL SDF-1, Gerwalk VF-1D with Minmei in peril figure, plus a 1/20 scale VF-1!
  6. From Hasegawa: 1/4000 scale SDF-1 (DYRL) Storm Attack mode. 1/72 scale VF-1D Gerwalk, with 1 Hikaru and 2 Minmei resin figures. From Max Factory: 1/20 scale Minmei figure 1/20 VF-1A/S Valkyrie
  7. Always fun to be right front and center at a show!
  8. Just wanted to say that the modifications look to be finished. Started puttying/sanding today; then prime and paint; followed by decalling/detailing.
  9. Miria OR Max, not both. I believe it's molded in white (with grey for the Super parts), so you can do pretty much whatever you'd like.
  10. First shots from Sapporo: Yep, lots of people stopping to check it out!
  11. I don't know about the other kits, but on the Musashiya the missiles were white metal parts, not casted as part of the body
  12. Going tomorrow after Japanese class, then again on Sunday with my wife. Small camera tomorrow, nice one on Sunday.
  13. Nope, because mine is an original Musashiya, not the recast.
  14. We'll be getting Bad Boys 3&4, a Jumonji remake, and Underworld 5 before Robotech.
  15. I think the final round of modifications is finished. Sanded down the epoxy putty I had put at the front of the leg parts to fill in behind the intake parts. Going to work just as I had hoped. Last modification is to the armor on the back of the legs. The Tornado back piece has some tabs you need to cut room for. You don't want to take these tabs off, as they're going to hold the back piece onto the fuselage. Also, someone asked me about why I trimmed the wings so dramatically. Here you can see how much of the wing is visible once built, so that's why!
  16. Yeah, I knew they were missiles.
  17. Macross at the Sapporo Snow Festival. Looks like they're going to have a merch booth, too. Guess where I'll be going??
  18. Next round, the legs. The reason why I picked the Super for the base kit is that the leg armor is just a straight build, no trying to fit Bandai armor on a Hasegawa leg (or Bandai leg on Hasegawa kit). However, the Super kit has an armored cap on the leg intakes, which the Tornado does not have. Luckily though, all the parts to a regular Messiah are included in the Super kit! On the top is the Super leg, bottom is the standard. You'll need to put the intake together on the standard leg (instructions can be found here if you don't have an extra set laying around), then cut along the panel line. The intake part and leg will attach to the fuselage like this. There's a bit of an open area, so to add some fill I used some Wave epoxy putty, and filled in the extended bit on the leg. When it dries, I'll sand to fit. I'm not going to have the two parts attached or anything, I just wanted something there to suggest that the legs are still connected. Think I'm almost finished with the mods. Will updates when more come up.
  19. That's Kamujin riding a Monster like a horse, not getting ready to kill the crew. It's one the the later, post war episodes of SDFM.
  20. The only non-Macross item that will get enclosed shelf space in my Macross display. A mini guitar from one of my favorite guitarists, Ruki of Galmet. Saw them live last Saturday, and I won this as part of a gift bag. It was the only thing in the gift bag that I didn't already have of theirs! Got the signature after the show. Also got a well used pair drumsticks from E-Chang.
  21. 1. Yes, the Tornado "back portion" goes from covering the head, to back over the shield. So, you need to separate out the back leg armor from the Super kit. 2. Yes, the wings are swept back in high-speed configuration. The fighters wings go inside the Tornado Pack wings, and the Hasegawa wings don't quite fit, so they get a bit of a trim. Now, on with some updated mods: During construction, use Part A3. That's the regular fighter version upper intake covering area. (area right behind cockpit). Part D14 needs a trim. Also, the underside of the Tornado back part need some serious inner filing. Be sure you don't get overambitious, and sand through, though! I've already got one area that's pretty transparent as it is. When it fits like this, you're good.
  22. Yes, I'd recommend Bandai for Gerwalk or Battroid, but no matter how much I shoved and squeezed, I could never get my plain VF-25 to look decent in Fighter mode. I've got a YF-29 Durandal kit that will use up a few of the Bandai fighter parts in its construction, so I've got no trouble in trying my luck at kitbashing out a Tornado. Of course, knowing my luck, now Hasegawa is going to announce that they'll be releasing one later this year!
  23. Anyone else having this trouble? Trying to upload images, and they crap out at around 90% complete. Just tried to do 4 at a time, and 3 had to be redone. And going to the old style uploader doesn't change, they still error out early. Problem on my end, or the site? Thanks.
