  1. Looks like real life is not too far from the multi-drones seen in Delta? http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-38569027
  2. Totally agree. And personally, I thought all of the battle scenes and action sequences were exceptionally well staged and choreographed. It had all the feel from the original trilogy yet grittier and better looking. This is one of those rare movies that I want to go watch a second time at the theaters and multiple times when it comes out on Blu-ray.
  3. The fact that the Israeli AF purchased the F-35 says something. I'm pretty sure that when they choose what fighter jet to purchase, they don't take it lightly.
  4. Probably due to a serious lack of spare parts? There was a recent news story of the Marines going to museum display Hornets to pull off needed parts. The Legacy Hornet has been out of production for awhile so I guess spare parts must be getting harder and harder to get.
  5. How about replacing or modding the upper half of the gunpod butt (it would be the lower half in fighter mode) with a landing hook? Or simply put a hook at the very end of the butt and pretend that the arms swing down a bit when approaching the deck... Ofcourse this means that if the pilot loses the gunpod, or the gunpod is heavily damaged, the pilot can no longer land on a carrier in fighter mode or has to opt for the barricade..

I don't know if this was mentioned yet but, if one goes all the way to first page of this thread, it's interesting to note that Bandai had the super packs painted in Yamato/Hasegawa style on their pre-pro Max/Millia models. So, somewhere along the line, somebody decided to make the change and/or was told to make the change.
  7. Next time I go to Japan, I'd like to get all of those old HG kits as well. But I hear they command a pretty high price due to their rarity.
  8. The Xuron cutters are OK for cutting thick trees but for precise smooth cuts they just won't do. Especially on these Tomytec kits that have some really small parts. I highly recommend getting the Tamiya sharp-pointed side cutters. Yes, they're very expensive but the difference is like night and day. You can go right to the edge with the Tamiya cutter. Significantly less Xacto knife cleanup/touchup work needed when using the Tamiya cutters. Worth every penny.

It's not 1/100 scale. All HM-Rs are non-scale. The VF-1s are 1/90-ish. VF-2SS was done in 1/60 scale by Evolution. The likelihood of Bandai doing it in 1/60 scale is now zero. .
  10. Tomytec doesn't seem make a ton of these kits. Once they go out of stock, it takes forever for Tomytec to reissue them. Many haven't. Some of the older OOP F-15 & F-22 kits are commanding crazy YJA/Ebay prices.
  11. If it was non-variable, 1/12 would be a better scale. Would fit nicely with the SH Figuarts/Figma figures and motorcycles.
  12. The VF-1 battroid is fairly easy to put together. Needs a bit of superglue to get things tight but nothing scary. I thought it was easier than the average HG gunpla.
  13. Looks like the nozzles were simply covered over for aerodynamics reasons? I agree with David that the A-7F would have been awesome.
  14. Had the USN purchased the A-7F, perhaps there may not have been a need to purchase the Super Hornet... And had the USAF purchased the A-7F, the A-10 might have been retired long ago? Another pic -
  15. The Girls und Panzer movie is full of awesomeness. Mizushima and Studio Actas really went big-time for this movie. 2-hours long and something like 75% is action-packed tank battles. Not to mention the animation quality and detail that went in. I was particularly impressed with the interior shot of the C-5M (both the cargo hold and the cockpit).
  16. Yes, it's the special type decals (just checked the VF-31A instruction sheet). Just follow the advice above from David.
  17. You can use the Gundam marker panel lining pen. However, it has to be the felt tip version GM21. It'll be easier to just use a mechanical pencil. Recommend getting a 0.3mm version.
  18. I was just thinking that had the Navy selected the navalized F-16 rather than the Hornet, what if they had also jumped on the F-16XL program and made a navalized version of that? If the Navy had a navalized XL, maybe they wouldn't have had to purchase the Super Hornet and had enough money for more F-14Ds or the NATF... Ah~ what if....
  19. I just have a hard time believing that all of those improvements can be made to fit, all while not substantially increasing size, weight, (even with greater use of composites), and cost. Especially weight - the one thing that always seems to grow in every aircraft program. IIRC, the F-22's wings were designed for high speed flight and not particularly for low speed maneuvering hence the reason why thrust vectoring was added.
  20. Mostly nonsense. F-14 fanboy fantasy talk.
  21. David, Did you ever finish that Flanker? Just wondering what your thoughts on it were after completion.
