THE UN-OFFICIAL COLOR SCHEME THREAD
Mr March replied to the white drew carey's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
No, they are still there. For some really large pictures, like the schematics I've posted, some computers will not display the pictures within an internet browser. This happens on my work computer as well. Regardless, you can still download them directly without having to view them online (right click on the link itself, select save as). Once you've done that, just look at them on your hard drive. -
Blade Runner is not really an accessible film. It works primarily on the strength of the visuals and the subtext. Blade Runner is also notable for the twist of protagonist/antagonist characterizations. The protagonist, Deckard, is nearly devoid of emotion and quite cold while Batty is an emotional and complex being yet plays the antagonist. Lastly, it's also known for creating a very real vision of a fictional world with a visual design so detailed and immersive it looks more realistic than most science fiction constructs that benefit from all the modern special effects technology. Much like Nolan's "Memento" or Kubrick's "2001" you really have to pay attention to what's going on in order to really get a lot out of it. The film is deliberately paced and almost meditative, which for some viewers is just a pretentious, slow or boring way to tell a story. If you rely upon the action sequences and dialog to carry the show, you're missing the other layers of the film completely and end up bored with a film that feels longer than it is.

Damn right. It's about time this classic was given classic treatment.

David Hingtgen: Nope. But I get that question... *click on smiley* ...a lot though

Well, this is certainly surprising news. Especially for a skeptic like myself, it's nice to see things do work out from time to time. Of course, with the amount of money to be made from this Hobbit film, I'm sure New Line and Jackson had more than enough incentive to reconcile their little spat

Aliens Vs. Predator 2 Script and Movie Review
Mr March replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The original AVP is hard. AVP 2 is much easier and a lot more fun, IMO. Gamespot has the difficulty for AVP rated as hard while AVP 2 is rated at medium. You should definitely read the review for AVP 2. It's easily one of the best First-Person Shooters of it's era and I think the sheer diveristy of the gameplay has made this title age very well, in spite of the short half-life for video game graphics. Aliens Vs. Predator 2 review on Gamespot I can't recommend AVP2 enough. It's an undeniable classic of PC gaming and stands well along side Doom, Jedi Knight 1&2, Quake II and Half-Life 1&2 as one of the most fun FPS games made for the computer. -
Yeah, there's no way I'm ordering anything now until after Christmas. You're just asking for trouble

Aliens Vs. Predator 2 Script and Movie Review
Mr March replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Get Aliens vs. Preator 2 for the PC. It's a better game than the first and the graphics will have aged slightly better -
I'd love to, but I just don't have the money right now. There's really no point owning an HD player and disks if I'm using a stereo CRT television. Besides, blu-ray is the superior format, so we all know it's going to fail
-
Ditto. I want that 5-disc case version on DVD. I haven't made the HD leap yet and don't have an AV system to seize advantage of HD anyway.

Aliens Vs. Predator 2 Script and Movie Review

Alien Vs. Predator 2 on the PC was the best game from that property I've ever played. Amazing game. -
Respectively, Hurin. Respectively. Meaning in the order given. Hence, Temple of Doom = more mysticism while Last Crusade = more humor.
-
I do agree with Hurin to a degree; though I enjoy Last Crusade, it is more corny and silly than Raiders of the Lost Ark. However, I'm afraid I don't see a huge leap in "ham and cheese" between the first film and it's sequels. The way some are talking it's analgous to LOTR vs. Harry Potter when the truth is more in the middle. Raiders was firmly set in a silly, vapid genre to begin with, an homage to low brow action/adventure serials of the 1930s and 1940s. Though Raiders is an entertaining and exceptional example of that genre, it's still what it is. Temple of Doom and Last Crusade add more mysticism and humor respectivley than the first installment, but I'm afraid I'm not seeing any major departures that drives the sequels into Spy Kids territory. I think EXO's opinion, and his Die Hard analogy in particular, is more in line with my own. As good as the sequels may be, they failed to improve upon the original and offer only diminishing returns.

Fantastic! That's gotta be the best bank heist since Inside Man. Wow. It's shot really nice too. It's funny, but I got this instant Heat vibe when I saw William Fichtner as the manager. Not sure why, maybe it's just seeing him in another film with a really great bank robbery

The YF-21 requires a fold booster to fold space, just like the YF-19 in Macross Plus and just like the VF-17, VF-22S and all the Sound Force Valkyries did in Macross 7. There is no miniaturized fold system that can fit inside a Valkyrie; the Valkyries all need external boosters as far along as 2047.

Love the new posters! I really like the one with Batman in front of the skyline.

Interesting site and a very good idea to help potential Macross consumers. Just some notes: the frames seem kinda messed up. If I open the site in a reduced window, the text on the main page will overlap the top menu frames. Also, I'd strongly advise changing the text color/background color for the DVD section. There is nothing harder to read than deep blue text on a black background. BTW, thanks for pimping my website

I work everday, but my job is brainless, slow and VERY quiet. Luckily, I work at a software company and our internet connection rocks. So I typically surf the net 90% of the time. Not much else to do but read the news, go to film websites and of course, post on forums I'm active at AP, MAHQ, MW, Gearsonline, Megaverse Forums, and AnimeNation.

Dreadful recording, but the trailer looks very good from what you can see. That joker characterization is working for me. Looks great!
