  1. When I was younger, I remember I would watch bad entertaintment just for the battle porn/mecha porn/cool-stuff-porn, even if the show was lousy. But as an adult viewer, I've no patience for a lousy story even if the porn is cool. So I'm pretty harsh with my entertainment; it either works for me or it doesn't so I end up with good Macross and bad Macross. I'll only ever rewatch the good (unless I need reference for building a fan site about Macross mecha, LOL) Good = SDF Macross, DYRL, FB2012, Macross Plus + Movie, Macross Frontier Bad = Macross 7, Macross Dynamite 7, Macross 7 Encore, Macross II, Macross Zero Among the good... 1. SDF Macross and DYRL sit firmly on top 2. followed by Macross Plus and Macross Frontier 3. Flashback 2012 bringing up the rear
  2. Perhaps Mao sustained some injury due to Space War I. Or maybe she slid backward down the wrong tree and her spine was damaged by a huge pineapple tree sliver As for Birla, who says he's wheelchair bound not by choice? Perhaps he's the 2059 equivalent of cart people, motoring around Folmo's annoying people that actually walk like the cart people do to us nowadays
  3. MisaForever You're no fun RedWolf I really hope they do a Macross Attack mode size comparison chart in the Macross Chronicles. I'd like to know if my guestimate is close or if yours is. I might have overestimated the size of the SDF-1 Macross, so the SDF-1 and the Macross Quarter might be a little smaller. In the anime, it looks like the Macross Quarter is closer to your size, but they often thrown scale out for dramatic effect. It's probably somewhere in the middle
  4. Episode 12 Macross 7 Plus has a brief sequence about Veffidas. Veffidas is shown living a warriors life, facing many opponents and never suffering defeat. But she is alone and isolated. Her motives for becoming a musician are unknown. As a character, Veffidas remains the definition of flat. Her sole purpose in the show (beyond the need for a band drummer) is to remain doggedly silent until the opportune moment arises when she can dispense some fortune cookie wisdom. I guess the rarity with which she asserts her verbal opinion is meant to lend a certain gravitas to what she has to say. Silent Bob indeed
  5. I wanna lick you. May I?
  6. Yeah, I can get you the schematics. You want them in really high resolutions? Here's the VF-4 in a little lower resolution than what you're used to working with: http://www.new-un-spacy.com/miscellaneous/...-schematics.gif
  7. I think that's RPG stuff. The Macross Compendium doesn't have it and if it was a number count, I probably would have noticed the number in english when going through my copy of This Is Animation Special Macross Plus. It would be great to have an ammo count, or more importantly a caliber for the YF-19/YF-21 guns.
  8. Nice work as always Seto. You are the Macross II master. It would be a honor to have your hard work featured on the Macross Mecha Manual.
  9. Are these schematics the ones taken from This Is Animation Special Macross Plus? For some reason they look different.
  10. What, no VF-4? Seriously, I am glad to see some other stuff from you. Nice work so far.
  11. Nice schematic. The VF-25 looks so purty I really need to get you a copy of photoshop No promises, but I'll try to do a Macross Plus Carrier version.
  12. I'll help. For velocities, if one variable fighter can fly at Mach 3 while another can fly at Mach 5, the second variable fighter is obviously faster. The definition of Mach is included in the Macropedia section of my website: Thrust-to-weight ratio is simply a number value comparing total thrust of the valkyrie to the weight of the valkyrie. It is used as a figure of merit to determine aircraft performance. The higher the thrust-to-weight number, the faster a variable fighter can accelerate. Weight and thrust for each Valkyrie can be read as is, though most Macross statistics for the last 25 years featured Valkyrie thrust ratings in kilograms of thrust (kg) while recently the anime productions Macross Zero and Macross Frontier have switched to kilo-newtons (kN). All units are in the metric system (royale with cheese!) Here are the Thrust-To-Weight ratios for the Macross Valkyries: VF-0A (empty) = 1.87 SV-51 (empty) = 2.34 VF-1A Valkyrie (empty) = 3.47 VF-1A Valkyrie (Standard T-O Mass) = 2.49 VF-1A Valkyrie (Max T-O Mass) = 1.24 VF-1S Super Valkyrie (Standard T-O Mass) = 6.36 VF-1S Super Valkyrie (Max T-O Mass) = 3.97 VT-1C Commercial Valkyrie (empty) = 2.91 VF-1X Plus Valkyrie (empty) = 4.33 VF-1X Plus Valkyrie (Standard T-O Mass) = 3.14 VF-4 Lightning III (empty) = 2.01 VF-4G Lightning III (empty) = 2.37 VA-3 Invader (empty) = 3.43 VF-5000B Star Mirage (empty) = 3.01 VF-11B Thunderbolt (empty) = 6.33 YF-19 (empty) = 15.43 (atmosphere limitation = 9.26) YF-21 (empty) = 13.65 (atmosphere limitation = 8.19) VF-11C Thunderbolt (empty) = 6.33 VF-17D Nightmare (empty) = 9.28 VF-17S Nightmare (empty) = 10.04 VF-19A Excalibur (empty) = 12.91 VF-19F Excalibur (empty) = 16.96 VF-19S Excalibur (empty) = 18.32 VF-22 Sturmvogel II (empty) = 13.61 (atmosphere limitation = 8.17) VF-22S Sturmvogel II (empty) = 13.96 (atmosphere limitation = 8.38 ) VF-11MAXL Thunderbolt Custom (empty) = 10.51 VF-17T Nightmare Custom (empty) = 9.75 VF-19 Excalibur Custom (empty) = 13.45 VF-25F Messiah (empty) = 39.09 VF-27 (empty) = 46.48 Fz-109A Elgerzorene (empty) = 8.4 Fz-109F Elgerzorene (empty) = 8.33 Az-130A Panzerzorene (empty) = 7.10 FBz-99G Saubergeran (empty) = 9.29 Thrust Ratings in kg VF-25 Messiah 165,138 kg x 2 Total thrust = 330,276 kg VF-27 140,367 kg x 4 Total thrust = 561,468 kg I hope that helps make more sense.
  13. Aren't the humans in Macross, for all intents and purposes, the Protoculture? Even though the old empire no longer exists, the humans are basically the legacy of that species, made in the same image and with as much or greater potential. I don't believe the UNG/NUNG have surpassed the Protoculture in terms of technological understanding, the size of civilization or the power of the Stellar Empire military. But it seems clear the humans in Macross have weathered the same storms as the Protoculture, but unlike their ancestors, the humans have survived and flourished both because of and in spite of themselves.
  14. Oh yeah, I always wondered about the turrets myself! I'm glad Macross Frontier finally answered that question. http://www.new-un-spacy.com/forfansonly/an...oss-turrets.gif Btw, your model still looks great
  15. At the bottom of the Macross 7 profile on my website, there are two pictures detailing the Battle 7 transformation sequence.
  16. I'd have to say that is a very fair assessment. In fact, Macross 7 was awful from the beginning, so it was very easy for them to maintain audience expectations.
  17. Thank you hobbes221. RedWolf I have a screen shot of of the Macross 1, but that's it. It wouldn't be much of a profile and I really prefer to have line art. I've done screen shot profiles for Macross Frontier mostly as place holders for that section and to keep up to date. BUt they are slowly being replaced with line art (or CGI model shots, as it were) and I prefer that.
  18. I think it's okay to let fans wonder. I admit, I don't see the big need to wedge MII into the Macross canon continuity, but I say let the fans dream and rationalize it however they wish. It's all just Macross anyway and we're supposed to be using our imaginations. But I will say this; I wish fans would spend a little more time acknowledging the real influences/homages in Macross Frontier than attempting parallels with MII where there are none. To supposedly see MII in Frontier at the expense of the true source is a disservice, IMO. I'd like to see more acknowledgment of the true influences/homages on Macross Frontier from anime such as Aquarion, Evangelion, Gundam and films like Once Upon A Time In The West. Particularly Leone's film, since Frontier is practically swimming with references to that classic western. At least some fans have recognized the Aliens and Ender's Game references.
  19. Most of the New Macross Class ships do not look alike. Almost all the NMCs we've seen so far have been different from each other. Other than a few cosmetic differences, the Battle Galaxy looks like a NMC to me. It's the proper size, the proper shape, has all the proper features (like the long legs, the docking bay torso, and the carrier deck forearms) and lastly it has the same gunship as all the other NMCs. The biggest differences seem to be largely stylistic, such as the bridge. The port and starboard amidships (which become the shoulders in Attack Mode) also feature one big cannon each, which is probably the most significant weapon difference from other NMC vessels. The Battle Galaxy is certainly an NMC.
  20. Added a bunch of animated gifs and custom color schemes from whispo and Talos to the For Fans Only section. http://www.new-un-spacy.com/forfansonly/fo...only-index.html Enjoy
  21. I'm not sure if many fans notice, but I revise numerous pictures on the M3 as well. However, I often make note of changes in the updates, but not always. I make better color choices, better shading, minor corrections and all that. Typically the VF-1 receives the most attention, but the Macross Plus, Macross 7 and DYRL mecha have all received similar revisions over the last year. Latest one to receive revision: SDF-1 Macross (Film Version)
  22. I like the custom color scheme for the VF-1A in your avatar, SchizophrenicMC. It looks cool.
  23. Technically, the last third of SDF Macross. See screen shot below:
  24. Didn't the Battle Galaxy's Super Beam Weapon shot destroy the Gun Ship of the Battle Frontier? Maybe I didn't see it right, but it looked like something on the Battle Frontier go blasted to bits. And when the Battle Frontier did it's diving punch upon the Battle Galaxy, it appeared to have no gun ship. I'll have to watch it again closely to be sure.
