The Official Yamato VB-6 Monster Thread
Graham replied to Montarvillois's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The VF-5000 does not appear in the Macross Plus OVA or movie, although a VF-5000B did feature in the Playstation game 'Macross Plus Game Edition' (released 2000) as a player selectable mecha. The only anime appearance by the VF-5000 was the Zolan Galactic Whale Patrol's VF-5000G (single-seater) & VF-5000T-G (2-seater) in the 1997-8 Macross Dynamite 7 OVA. Oher console games that the VF-5000 has featured in are: - The VF-5000B was in the 2001 Dreamcast came 'Macross M3' as a player selectable mecha. The VF-5000B was also in the super rare 'VF-X2 Special Edition' (year 2000), of which only 1,000 copies were released and available only as a mail-in campaign prize (I have 1 original copy ). As Renato mentioned, the VF-5000B was to have replaced the VF-1 in the US version of VF-X2, had that game been released. To date there have been no toys of the VF-5000 and the only model kits I'm aware of are: - The VF-5000B, was really first made famous IMO by Studio Half Eye's 1998 1/100 scale Perfect Variable garage kit. Yellow Submarine also released a 1/144 scale resin Fighter mode VF-5000G garage kit sometime around 1998. Yellow Submarine also planned a 1/144 scale resin Battroid mode VF-5000G garage kit, but I'm not sure if it was ever released. The very first time any lineart (fighter mode only) of the VF-5000 was published AFAIK was in the 1995 'Variable Fighters Aero Report' section of the 'TIAS Macross Plus book'. Okay, do I win any prize for knowing all this useless junk? Graham -
Well, at least the 1/100 VF-0S is still shown on Yamato's site, although that doesn't mean much, as they are very slow at updating (pot calling the kettle black ). Plus the pics shown are still of the older sculpt with the large hip sockets. Heh, and the release date is still shown as 2004. Oh well, hopefully they have a booth at the upcoming Winter Wonder Fest and perhaps any MWers who attend can get some info out of them. Graham

LOL.........you made my coffee come out of my nose I hadn't thought of that. Yeah, I better change it Graham

So can anybody identify what the images on the cover of the book are? Graham

Actually, you don't really need the ability to read Japanese to order from Amazon.jp as they have pages in English for entering your order details (click on the English buton at the top of the page). Of course the item descriptions are still in Japanese though. I've been ordering stuff from them for ages without problem, and I don't read a word of Japanese. Graham

I thought the first pic looks like Hikaru and Minmay. Graham

Me . Never played the game. Graham

Heh, for some reason, I couldn't stop laughing when I read this. Yeah, I reckon we're in for a long quiet period again. Graham

Looks like a bastard child of a SIG 551, HK XM-8 and an M4. Lots of thread necromancy today. We must all be bored . Graham

Bah, by all accounts they were never really lovers or lesbians anyway, it was all just a publicity stunt, which the gullible masses fell for. As for me, I could never stand their out of tone screeching and always turned down the volume when they were on the radio. But hey, what do I know I'm just an old fart who can't stand most modern music and mostly listens to stuff from the 70s/80s . Graham

Actually, I also love the old Yoshiyuki Takani box art on the old 1982-3 Imai and Arri Macross kits. More recently in the late 1990's Takani also did the wonderful box art on the Wave 1/72 Mac 7 kits (best VF-17 battroid illustration ever IMO). I've got both of Takani's art books and they are worth picking up if you can find them. Yuji Kaida (of 1/55 VE-1 & VT-1 box art fame) also did some beautiful box art on 4 of the old Bandai 1985 Macross kits. These are some of the hardest Bandai Macross kits to find. And of course Tenjin's box art on the Hasegawa Macross kits is mind-blowing. I've stated many times on these forums, that if Hasegawa were to release a book of Tenjin's Macross art, printed on high quality glossy paper, I would buy it in a heart beat. Graham

I think it's pretty neat that according to the Gunota update of January 24, a recent poll in Japan of 500,000 people lists Lunamaria Hawke as second place in the ranking of the top 30 favorite female Gundam characters. Go Lunamaria! Graham

Next without skirt . Graham

, i guess we will have to wait for them to come up with a way to have Gff gashapon figure, where you can remove/ replace this or that. Blue?,, I thought it was going to be pink or black to match with the uniform Oh I got a way you can remove it,,, But you will have to rub her butt until the panties disappear By the way any pic? Okay, here's the pics of my Lunamaria Hawke figure. First with skirt.......... Graham

It's a Takatoku toy of a mecha from the anime Orguss. One of the rarer Orguss toys as well. It's nothing to do with Macross, despite the auction title. Graham

Heh, saw this thread title and it immediately made me think of this quote from Aliens: - Dietrich: "Looks like some kind of secreted resin." Hicks: "Yeah, but secreted from what?"- Haterist, I'd suggest getting the Pulse Rifle from the armory and checking your house for any signs of Alien infestation . Oh, and lets just hope you don't get any sudden chest pains. Graham

How about some rear visibilty so the pilots can check their 6. Why is it that most sci-fi fighters have no rear visibilty? Graham

Just picked up the new March 2005 issues of Hobby Japan magazine & Dengeki Hobby magazine. Unfortunately, there's no new pics of the Yamato 1/100 VF-0S. In fact, neither magazine has anything about Macross at all, zip, zilch, nada. IIRC, this is the third month in a row now that there has been no updates on the Yamato 1/100 VF-0S, which leads me to suspect that Yamato might have quietly decided to drop it. I'm guessing that one of two things may have happened: - 1) The prototype scrulpt was so badly received based on the older pics in the hobby mags and as seen at trade shows, that based on negative market feedback Yamato figured it just would not sell well enough and it was not worth the expense of starting from scratch to make an all new sculpt. 2) Yamato has taken so long developing this toy, that their licencse with Big West to produce Macross Zero toys may have already expired! I'm reasonably certain that Big West toy licenses last for 2 years. And the 1/100 VF-0S toy has been in development for 2 years already, so it is conceivable that the license could have already expired and Yamato figures it is just not worth renewing it. Let's hope I'm wrong and the toy is still going to be released some day. Graham

Yep, please post all TF stuff in the pinned topic at the top of the page. Graham

I have some of the Great Mechanics books and they are good, but too small and the main focus is Gundam. I really want an A4 size (or larger) 'This is Animation' style Macross Zero book to be able to fully appreciate Kawamori's line art. Oh well, perhaps a Macross Zero book will be released a few years later. And nice to see you posting again Seichi. I thought you had disappeared . Graham

You mean a pic of the figure or a pic of me rubbing her butt? Graham
