    I'm a little more than halfway through Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Solid show, but I think I was expecting a bit more from it given what I had read about it. I've also checked out the first episode of Dan Da Dan. Kinda bonkers in an interesting way. I'll keep watching.

    Picked up Furiosa: Black & Chrome Edition as part of the 4K 5-film Mad Max Collection, and it's the superior way to watch this movie. So much so that I think it should have been released in the theaters like this. It looks far less cartoonish and reduces the noticeability of CG.

    Dug the first episode of the new Ranma 1/2. Set in the 80s, so it's not been transposed into the 21st century.

    The season ender did not work for me. But, to be fair, the show hasn't worked for me overall. I feel like I'm not the right audience for it, as I am not an avid Tolkien fan.

    The studio has already seen a rough cut of the film, if not the finished product. They're not going to make a decision based solely on hype.

    They don't have any rights to anything in the Silmarillion. They can only pull from the LotR novels and the appendices.

    I'm late to this party. I started watching 2022 last week on CR and am 9 episodes in. So far I am not enjoying it as much as 2199. 2202 just is a bit too convoluted. At least early on.

    The show isn't bad; it's just not terribly compelling.

    For being the most expensive show on TV, it sure suffers from looking like a mix between a video game cutscene and something shot on a soundstage.

    Finished the first season of Delicious in Dungeon. It was good. Watching Beastars, which is really good. Also, I finally watched all of Space Battleshio Yamato 2199, which I thought was really good. Currently watching 2202.

    Blu-ray.com is a great resource for collectors, but the community there can be kinda looney toons--even by MW standards, lol. They can be quite fanatical about certain things.

    Just to be clear, I'm being hyperbolic here, but this is how those of us in the 4K collectors community feel about stuff like this.

    This is what I was afraid of. They've used AI to totally scrub the grain from the transfer, and we've lost detail with it.

    I've tried using my VPN (PIA) to stream Disney+ from Japan, but it's blocked.

    It's an upscale of the old 2K transfer that has been scrubbed of all grain. And the color still isn't right. I worry they'll use AI to process the hell out of DYRL, trying to make it look "new" like Cameron has been doing with his films.

    Plenty of directors with more prestige and fame than Kawamori have supervised disastrous transfers.

    I was in the verge of completing an order on this and stopped myself. Concerned about the quality of the subs and how the transfer turns out. May hold off on this until people have these in hand and can speak to how the final product turned out. I'm not concerned about any first edition bonuses or whatnot.
