  1. They're canceling shows that don't do well. Television networks have been doing this for decades. Would Willow have been given a second shot if it was part of a franchise like Marvel or Star Wars? Maybe, but it's not.
  2. How could they have known? They had already finished filming when Everything... came out. People would be complaining if the movie turned out to be a cameo-fest.
  3. Edit: Removed my post because it's not current. I fail at reading. The only new anime I've watched in a decade was Chainsaw Man. I'm not as head over heels about it as others, but I liked it well enough.
  4. The final episode of the first season was the one bit of the story I actually had clear memory of from the game. And it impacted my enjoyment of it.
  5. I read the headline and knew immediately it wasn't worth reading. Maybe the writer's TV isn't properly calibrated. I had no issue watching it.
  6. I've been rethinking this. Does the story need a full second season to tell the story of game 1, or just a few more episodes? Maybe 10 or 11 episodes instead of 9 would feel better. But damn, still a great show as it Is.
  7. The show has been great, but with the end of the first game/story upon us, I'm really feeling that they should have done two seasons to tell it all.
  8. I have thoughts, but I really need a second episode before I can comment. Given the shortness of the episodes, I do think they should have given us two the first week.
  9. I didn't realize it was only 9 episodes. My first instinct is to ask if that's enough time, but they have done a dynamite job with this show up to this point, so I'm just going to assume they'll stick the landing in the first season.
  10. Was Iczer One the third anime on the Books Nippan flier announcing Gunbuster and Dangaioh? Anyone remember?
  11. I sold my VHS copies of Gunbuster on eBay years ago. Sold all of my anime I had on VHS. It sold well, even though a lot of it was available on DVD at that point.
  12. So, we were paying, what, $30 per VHS? At two episodes per (am I remembering that right?). Which is $65 in 2023 money. The modern anime industry in the US was built upon our wallets.
  13. I currently have the old Bandai(?) DVD set, but have wanted to upgrade to blu-ray for a long while now. Like many, I was introduced to Gunbuster via the US Renditions VHS releases and it's been a favorite of mine for decades now. I still recall the flier I got from Books Nippan that listed the upcoming releases of Dangiaoh, Gunbuster, and one other anime that I can't recall. Dangaioh and Gunbuster were must haves because of Kawamori and Mikimoto.
  14. Apparently, this was announced last year. I'm pretty jazzed that we can finally get the full 6-part OVA in NA on blu-ray and not just the condensed movie version that's been the only thing available.
  15. Discotek Media is releasing the full, 6-part Aim for the Top! Gunbuster OVA in April on blu-ray. Will include unspecified special features and a brand new English dub. It's available for preorder on Amazon and RightStuf.
  16. For those who might be interested, I listen to The Prestige TV Podcast quite often and their The Last of Us Deep Dive pods have been really good. They add some game perspective into it, which has been great for me since I played the game a decade ago and don't remember a lot of it.
  17. Also, I'd like to note that I haven't heard Bella Ramsey's accent slip once. Or if it did, I didn't notice it. She's done a great job.
  18. Another excellent episode. I've said it before and I'll say it against: TV and film adaptations of video games cannot be what they were prior to this. The previous level of quality is just not acceptable after what they've done with this show.
  19. Good friend of mine saw it yesterday, her thoughts pretty much matched up with reviews. Not a good movie. I'm leaning toward finally making a break with Marvel here.
