The Acolyte - Disney Plus Star Wars Series
Duke Togo replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This is a good read. I especially liked the show runner talking about the Jedi being at the height of their powers in this era, and that they'd only pull out their lightsabers if they were really threatened. And really, not much can truly threaten them in this time period. https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2024/03/the-acolyte-leslye-headland-opens-up-about-the-series-following-trailer-debut.html -

It's about time they moved away from the Skywalker era. -

Hot damn -
I thought MotA was uneven, but still fairly good. Better than The Pacific but not as good as Band of Brothers. Definitely felt like it needed a 10th episode so the story had more room to breathe.

I'm not sure I understand this. We complained for decades about how difficult it was to get anything Macross outside of Japan. And now that it's opening up and we'll have legal options, you're still going to pirate it? That's kinda a stick in the eye to Big West who is trying to make this available to us.

Yeah, I saw it opening day in my preferred seats, but have had trouble getting tickets in those same seats since then. Movie is doing a lot of business.

I generally don't buy tv shows on physical media, but I may make an exception for Andor. Though, I'd wait for the complete series to be available in a single purchase.

The series is moving very fast and they're condensing events more than I thought they would given the run time of it. I suspect they're saving a chunk of time for -
The first movie is the bulk of the book. The second movie is maybe 1/4 or 1/3 of the book and it goes pretty quickly. So, not rushed, it's just how it was written. The main difference being there is a multiple-year time jump in the book that would have had to take place early in the second movie (if not in between movies).

Napoleon is bad. Like The Counselor bad. And the guy who wrote it wrote the script for Gladiator 2. Does not bode well for that movie.
